Rating: Summary: a great book ive recomended to all my friends Review: I liked the beginning of the book the best, but at the end it gave no discriptions of the battles. It was like they just were hurrying through and skimped on the details and in the end it just ended.Im just dying to know what happened after this.
Rating: Summary: Good fast paced story, but needs a sequel Review: Not much to add to the other reviews but having read this book for the third time I found the story just as interesting as the first time. I also find myself waiting for the next book in the series. However, I am afraid this may not happen as two years have passed since In Death Ground came out.
Rating: Summary: A gripping sci-fi novel Review: A great book. I read it and shared it with my friends. We have read it so many times that the binding came off! All of us went on to read Crusade and Insurrection, the book's prequels. I have one question... WHERE IS THE SEQUAL?
Rating: Summary: An enigmatic piece of writing in more than one way Review: Let's get something straight before I begin: I enjoyed this book immensely from start to finish. Despite this, though, I am forced to give this book only three stars, as it's formula (battle-suspense-battle-suspense...ad nauseum) is neither original nor surprising. In addition to this, the ending to this book feels forced, which is truly sad, as it was not a recovery from his dying (at that point) formula, it is simply a retreat.
Rating: Summary: Exellent Review: Great book, on the order of crusade and Insurection. I was disapointed in the ending, IT JUST ENDED. Where is the rest of the book?
Rating: Summary: Plenty of good SF action but leaves you hanging Review: I thought this was a pretty good SF action novel. However the last page of the book just ends. I thought I had a book with missing pages. Went back to the book store and all books "just ended". No mention of "to be continued..." A cheap trick to pull on those buying the book.
Rating: Summary: Great Read, Space Opera at it's best. Review: The strategic situation is such that each battle in the novel is like what the Japanese faced at the Battle of Leyte Gulf. A force comes out of the warp point and "Has his T crossed" by the defending enemy force. That is why huge fleets are used and used up. It is the space war version of the Battle of Somme. The only way to get thru is to smash thru or trick your enemy. This is a great book. But is just kind of ends after the Bugs big assault on A. Centuri. Where is the next novel in the series?
Rating: Summary: A fast paced..militarily descriptive novel Review: I thought the novel very good.In military terms it was very descriptive and I felt the authors had displayed a great deal of imagination in writing it.It kept my interest thruout the story.I would recommend it to all military scf-fi fans!
Rating: Summary: The work of a new Golden Age Master Review: With this edition following as it does on the heels of the earlier Federation novels solidly establishes Weber and Steve White both as peers of the golden age masters of the likes of John W. Campbell's The Dark Star Passes, Flight of the Ancient Mariner, and Invaders from the Infinite, as well as E.E. Doc Smith's Skylark and Lensman series. This is space opera at its greatest. I personally feel the character development is superb in depth and scope, with a stupendous cast of dedicated warrior heros upholding the great traditions of honor, sacrifice, and service to mankind. All the while struggling with the inner demons of their human frailties and fears. Here are humans cast in the mold of history's greatest heros and villians. Now is their darkest hour and White's and Weber's protrayal of their answer to the call of duty will stand the test of time in the Hall of the great masters of the Golden Age. Don't pass this up if you read Drake, Forstchen, Stirling, or Berry.
Rating: Summary: In Death Ground has some of the best space combat ever. Review: This book has lots of action and adventure. The battles are first rate evryone is a knock down drag out bar brawl. If you want action and lots of combat, this book is for you.
