Summary: Another awesome book to add to my collection.
Review: R.A.Salvatore has done it again. I have followed his work from the beginning and must say this is a plus for his carreer. I was worried that this story being of the Star Wars nature would not be as graphic as his other works, but boy was I wrong! You can see this entire story in your mind from beginning to end. For his first attempt at a Star Wars novel I think he did an excellent job. Mr. Salvatore, THE FORCE IS TRUELY WITH YOU.

Summary: Thank you for ruining the book!
Review: I would like to thank all the morons who RUINED this book for myself and others when reviewing it on here and revealing the MAJOR death of one of the characters! Good Job!

Summary: Wait a second!
Review: Okay, I haven't read this book yet, but from some of the other reviews, I have learned, that Chewbacca dies! Chewbacca is one of my favorite characters, he can't die! And anyways Mr. Salvadore or whatever havn't you read Kevin J. Anderson's and Rebecca Moesta's books - Young Jedi Kights, Chewbacca's alive in them and unless I'm mistaken which I don't think I am, young Jedi Knights, comes after Vector Prime. I was going to read this book, but frankly, now I don't think I want to. I am very dissapointed!

Summary: Brilliant!
Review: Man I really liked this book. I feel Salvatore has done a great job in advancing the SW saga. The Yuuzhan Vong are a deadly opponent and one which will give the new Republic a run for their credits. I find nothing wrong with this production, ie. I bought the audio version; I'm glad to see Anthony Heald reading the new crop of books; I think he does an excellent job along with the sound effects and music accompaniments. As for the story itself I felt it was fast paced and well thought out. Personally I feel its about time a main character died, I mean come on, and wouldn't mind seeing one or two more go. In adddition this was the first SW book which wasn't loaded with sugar coating. Some say it was too graphical in vilence but I say not. The X-wing series also carries the same tone as this book and I enjoy those too as well. The Jedi are not unbeatable as another reviewer stated and thus are susceptible to disease and alike. All and all great job Mr. Salvatore.

Summary: This is an outstanding Star Wars book with a new twist.
Review: From start to finish this is a hard book to put back on the shelf, it is nonstop excitement from Lando's Folly to the outskirts of the Helska System and back to the core planets. The threat seems real to the New Republic, but with the arrival of the three Solo children the outcome is never in doubt. I think that the plot was excellent and it is worthy of your time.

Review: ... and I'm dead halted at the beginning of chapter 18. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but all true Star Wars fans will take a moment of pause after Chapter 17 let me tell you.

Well, as a quick review for would be buyers of this book, some quick comments. I'm not too big on the author's writing style, but as he is more accustomed to fantasy than Staw Wars, I can accept that. But one comment stands out in my mind. I hate how he keeps using the characters' full names when mentioning them. Also, a glosary of the words and how to say them would be helpful. But aside from those few things, it's going pretty well. Interesting story and race. If I can I'll post when I'm finished reading it. And a special note, for a lost friend ... "Naaarrrrllll!"

Summary: Salvatore underrates his Jedi and ignores physical laws
Review: Giving the go ahead to kill a major character was a great plot move. However, we have seen in past books the power of Kyp, Luke, Anakin and the twins and Salvatore down plays that power too much. Mara's illness should not be beyond the force, nor should the life forms the aliens use for technology. The scientist were shown as bickering fools and incompetents, and the alien biotech did things that were inexplicably powerful without having to account for a source of that power. Jedi use the force, engines have power cores, light sabres have power cells. Organic machines must still have some metabolic energy source. The rules may be bent but not ignored in a universe that is to remain somewhat consistant. The things I liked about the book were: It set the stage for forced cooperation by the new republic by creating an outside threat. A main character was killed. Elements from the new movie were incorporated into the sub plots. Luke and Mara Jade were finally together. (though I wish I knew how that happened!)

Summary: Good Start and First attempt by Salvatore
Review: This book looks to be a great launch point for a new sub series, however some problems need to be resolved for the next book. If Stackpole takes the helm with the same thoroughness and creativity he used for "I, Jedi" then I have few doubts it will accomplish greatness.

I like the way the Solo Kids are portrayed, I thought the introduction of the new characters was handled well if not unexpected. And the other Jedi in the story help mark the evolution of teh universe. Luke reforming the Jedi council was inevitable it had to come to complete the New Republic's ability to obtain even a fragile peace.

Character interaction had it's stong points, I agree with many in saying that Mara is a strong person and to even incline she is weak will kill the character, but I liked the interaction between Jania and Mara, as well as the interaction between Leia and Mara.

Now the problem! Luke and Mara are newly weds in my understanding that mean a little passion would be nice along with the friction (not neccessarily a bad friction) that make the Jade Skywalker relationship so popular. They were always chalenging each other physically, mentally, phylosofically and emotionally. Please get it back. And like one other reviewer I read I need the supporting cast, not just the maystream. Where is Wedge and Rogue squadron (maybe Coran, he is a Jedi afterall!) Crisis for the new republic and the hottest pilots aren't there come on. I wouldn't mind a joint Alliance Empire bit, I always liked Palleon and he was still in command and at Peace in the end of Zahn's Duology. Finally Talon Karde has to be one of the freshest caracters and I think leaving him out would be a mistake in the future.

Good first attempt for Salvatore keep at it and I am sure he will get better at SW. As for Stackpole taking the reins Great lets line up Zahn for the one after that and maybe Anderson could join them.

Summary: The story sounds fimiliar...
Review: I don't know about you, but I have a great love for sci-fi. I've watched nearly everything there is of Star Wars, Star Trek, you name it! But this particular book seems almost a copycat of a two-part Star Trek Voyager episode called Scorpion. Both stories deal with an alien coming from an unknown place that uses organic technology to fight with. Also, in both books, one of the charactors comes down with a mysterious illness. Coincidence?

Summary: You complainers. . . .
Review: . . . sound just like those people who saw "Phantom Menace" and said "What! That overly nice little kid is Darth Varder! I don't believe it! " "Vector Prime" is the BEGINNING of a much larger story. Does EVERYTHING have to be spelled out and concluded by the end of one book? Personally, I LOVE the fact that I have to wait and see what happens next. I like the fact that Mara has become ill and there is not a "simple Jedi save." Contrary to popular belief, the Jedi are not omnipotent. If that had been the case Vader and the Emperor would never have "wiped them out." I think this argument also applies to the death of Chewbacca. It would have been much too easy for Anakin to just swoop him up with the force. Death happens. Even the death of a great character. Chewbacca dies an honorable death maintaining his life debt to Han Solo. I think we will all be pleasantly surprised as the story unfolds and we witness Mara's journey towards health, Han's mourning of Chewbacca, the invasion of the Vong, the new characters that are sure to come along, as well as the return of many old characters we haven't seen yet. Overall, "Vector Prime" is a wonderful, intelligent, human, exciting, and logical next step in the "Star Wars" mythology.
