Rating: Summary: Vector Prime, good and bad Review: Vector Prime was yet another Star Wars book that had Leia, Luke, Han and the gang facing another galaxy threatening enemy, this time there is originality in the story with an enemy from beyond the gaxaly with original weapons and technology. This book also showed more of Han and Leia's children who are teenagers in the novel, it explores the different children from there personalities to how they get along together. The only downside to this novel is the killing off of a character that has been with us since the original movie, I will not say who it was or how the character died for those of you who have not read it. It was on of my favourite characters and it won't be the same with out them. Overall it was a very good book, well written and leaves you looking forward to the next book in the New Jedi Order series.
Rating: Summary: Great book...wonder what the other reviewers read! Review: This book was a wonderful addition to the SW universe, RA Salvatore did a great job with everything...especially with the death of Chewie(since LFL told him to do it). It was well structured and flowed nicely from scene to scene. I wonder just what some people were reading...this book is much better then some of the others and starts the new jedi order just right and gives futur writers in this series a great start. To bad so many people don't realize this is George Lucas' universe and nothing happens unless he SAYS SO!(that's right...the boss said to do it!) The true SW fan will enjoy this book and see that this is just what SW needed to give it life again, you always knew the good guys would make it out alive...now you don't know what will happen and that's what makes a book worth reading and a series worth buying...hopefully people will see that and hopefully mr. Salvatore will be back.
Rating: Summary: yeah, death is sad Review: yeah, death is sad, but this is star wars...which means that eventually Chewie will be found alive, having come through some strange and incredibly lucky adventure that saved his life, from an otherwise certain death. Look at Boba Fett, we all thought he was dead at the end of ROTJ but lo and behold, he comes back having gone through hell and back to do it. And besides...would George Lucas really authorize the death of one of his main characters? In my opinion, this is not the last of Chewbacca... oh, and the book was pretty good too :)
Rating: Summary: I've read ALL the starwars books, this on is in the top 3 Review: R.A. Salvator opens this new series with a huge bang! I've never seen so much gritty and believable character development in a Star Wars book before. It seems to me that the few people who trashed this book havn't read it, and the rest are just unable to deal with a real universe where people die. If you ever buy a Star Wars book, make it this one!
Rating: Summary: That about wraps it up. Review: Mr. Salvatore's book is good, however when you combine it with EP1, it starts to paint a very lousy picture of where the Star Wars Universe is heading. I think that now is probably a good time to say goodbye to this once great achievement. I believe that Mr. Lucas has forgotten where the interest in these stories came from. I hope Micheal Stackpole and Dark Horse continue with Star Wars, because they seem to have the right innovations needed to keep it fresh.
Rating: Summary: NOT a Star Wars novel Review: VECTOR PRIME would be an okay novel if you changed the character names and took it out of the STAR WARS universe. The characterizations are decent and the situations enjoyable enough, even if the book reads like one big sci-fi/fantasy cliche: the impossibly young and beautiful damsel who is praised for her smarts although all the reader sees is her immense gullibility; the race of big, bad scary conquering aliens who have absolutely no discernable motivation other than they are a race of big, bad scary conquering aliens; and a centrally controlled invasion force (Independence Day, anyone? Starship Troopers? Phantom Menance, for goodness' sake! ) The author has a very simple style and vocabulary; some variation in his choice of adverbs and adjectives would have been highly appreciated. The plot, especially when it comes to a major character's fate, relies on contrived coincidence and it is transparently obvious that it is some editor's idea of a press release soundbite rather than being a story driven event. The characters bear little resemblance to how we saw them last; the author has admitted that he didn't know who Mara Jade was so he sidelines this strong, fan-favorite character with a plot written like a weepy CBS Movie of the Week. The concepts that make the SW Universe so unique such as the Force are badly misused and mischaracterized; and the Dark Side, which should be the ultimate evil as it is the darkness that can reside inside each of us, is usurped by an enemy that would better belong in the WWF. In short, DelRey has missed the mark badly; and I advise others to treat VISION OF THE FUTURE as the last book in the SW saga.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the greater SW novels ever written Review: Well I must say that the people that brought us Star Wars have done it again. The addition of R.A Salvatore to the ranks of authors for this Galaxy far far away was a smart move. I love this book. The character developement is excellent, the plot was straight forward; it didn't leave you running around in circles as some of the other SW novels that I have read. However, I must say that I was more than a little upset that some of you that have read this novel had the gull to reveal a tragic and most important aspect of this book. That just wasn't proper to do that. I still love the book, but it ruined the entire experience for others.
Rating: Summary: Patience. Next book not far, not far! Review: All i have to say is this. I agree Salvatore went a little over board with Chewie's death and Luke and Mara's marraige. But I have to admit the book was pretty good and creative, and worthy of the 'Star Wars' title. I am looking forward to the next book and you should be too. And remember: *The Force will always be with you.*
Rating: Summary: Salvatore must not like Star Wars Review: I don't think Mr. Salvatore should continue writing Star Wars.Unfortunately for us he has to. Star Wars is a space opera not an intense drama. Killing off characters and warping others isn't my idea of a good writer. The book doesn't even refer back to other Star Wars books. However if you are a die-hard Star Wars fan you might enjoy this book.
