Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
Review: This is without a doubt the worst Star Wars book in print today. It surpasses Darksaber in tedium and stupidity. The plot is predictable, the villians are trite, and the characters are as wooden as my front door. Vector Prime does have its moments though. There are some funny scenes involving Chewie, but overall the book is a real stinker. I had high hopes for this novel considering the good start the Hand of Thrawn Duology had given but it was a profound letdown. Hopefully the powers that be in the Star Wars franchise will not allow another magnificent blunder like Vector Prime in the future. As for Mr. Salvatore's writing style I think it best that he should stick to novels with titles beginning with the word Demon and stay as far away from the Star Wars universe as possible. If you want to read a good Star Wars book stay away from Vector Prime and reread the Hand of Thrawn Duology.

Summary: A few Comments
Review: I have a few comments about the book and about some of the reviews. First Why does everyone see fit to reveal that Chewie dies? Do you people reveal the end of movies? Let us read the book to find out what happens! Next there are a lot of comments about Luke and Mara being Newlyweds. If you read the timeline at the beginning of the book, you will see that they got engaged six years ago at the end of visions of the future. Besides, she was sick and not in the mood. Maybe Salvatore does not know how to write touching love stories. He did keep mentioning their love.

Now a few comments about the book that nobody else mentioned. Except for the three solo kids, nobody really used the force correclty. Kyp was supposed to be as powerful as Luke and he never even uses the force here. Did he feel Miko's death? It as mentioned that there are over 100 Jedi running around now. We should see some more of them. Except for Curren Horn, we haven't seen any since Dark Sabre. I am sure it will be explained later, but it seems to me that the reason the aliens are outside the force is that they are for outside the Galaxy. They probably have their own force

I also found the writing style difficult to follow. The fighting sequences and ship battles are very hard to visualize.

Summary: Mara's illness
Review: For all you people who seem to be so obsessed with Mara's illness, I have just a couple of things to say. First of all, Luke can't do everything, neither can the Force. Second, this disease is from another galaxy, so it can't be healed by the Force so stop bickering, and get on with your lives!

Summary: 3 stars for a galaxy far far away...
Review: I know, I know...Chewie's death is quite a blow to SW and everything seems a bit too real to the SW universe, but despite that, I think Salvatore did a great job weaving the characters of the SW universe into an action packed new adventure. This book really creates a new style for SW with problems that are believable and that you can relate to. But this "real feel" is what somewhat made me give it a 3 star rating. The reason I have always loved the SW books was the reason for this or that seemingly impossible feat done and the characters seemingly invincibility. Then Salvatore just went off, killed a main character and gave another a terminal disease...and now i'm afraid of what the other books have in store...But also, my rating comes from my hard look on new authors to the SW universe. My "you better do better" kind of thinking. But,despite it's stark reality that I much don't like...it is a superbly written book and all SW fans and just general sci-fi fans, should read it.

Summary: At last one of them dies !
Review: First of all let me say that this was an enjoyable book and was good to read. Second to all those who are moaning about Chewie dying its about time one of the main chracters died and personaly I think salvatore could have got rid off some other charachters as well e.g Kyp durron and Lando for instance. This was well written with agood theme although not completley original (evil aliens). One thing that did get on my nerves though was that Han and Chewie were treated as incomptents when piolting in the astroids(Author has not seen ESB then) Plus the Solo children are annoying to say the least as these arrogant young do gooders who need to be taken down a step. And did not Yoda say Adventure Excitment a Jedi craves not these things. But other wise a good book.

Summary: Starting with a Bang
Review: I've never read anything by R. A. Salvatore before, but I have always been curious about his work. When I found out he was writing a Star Wars novel, I knew I had to see what his writing was like. Before Vector Prime shipped, I found a copy of the collected Ice Wind Dale trilogy and started reading it. It was good (I have yet to finish it though), but Vector Prime arrived... I enjoyed Vector Prime a great deal. This was a great way to begin a new era for the Star Wars novels. There were some good things going on in this book and some things that I thought were a little slow. The new villains, the Yuuzhan Vong are interesting, but for some reason, I don't want them to stay around for very long. The research outpost I found kind of boring as well. I did, however, like the disagreements between Anakin and Jacen over the nature of the Jedi. I am also looking forward to the reformation of the Jedi Council. As for the "shocking" moment in the book. At least he died well.

All in all, I liked this book and will be reading other Salvatore novels in the future.

Summary: Salvatore Rules ?
Review: I must say that I found some of the other reviews of Vector Prime amusing. I am a big Salvatore fan but even he can write a bad novel. This one, thank god, is not one. Please don't bicker about what is going to happen to Mara Jade, we'll find out soon enough, and also don't be mad at Salvatore for killing Chewie. The publishers wanted one of the main characters killed, so who did you want them to kill, Luke or Leia? So come on an just enjoy a new chapter in the Star Wars Genre.

Summary: SPOILERS (AS IF YOU HAVENT READ ANY YET)
Review: woah woah woah. You're all complaining about the death of chewi and the quick stages of Mara's Illness. Is that what you rated this book so low for? I mean with all the action taking place it would be impossible for one of the SW charictors not to die, i'm surprised just one died. I mean, we are not little kids anymore. Also, Mara's sickness was given to her, thats why it was so fast coming on. This SW book added a new feel to Star Wars books, a REAL feel, it answerd my questions like "What is beyond the star wars galaxy?" (not really but it was close) and it finally delt with real topics that we on earth would deal with, making the SW galaxy not all just sci-fi anymore, but have some truth in it. I read this book for hours and hours just to see what happend next, and im satisfied. I've seen a lot of wose sw books people, this rates high o my charts as #1 with Darksaber and Courtship of P. Leia.

Summary: Vector Prime
Review: I felt the book was interesting in the way she was trying to bring a new chapter to life for Star Wars. I did not like that Chewie was killed off he was a good charater and side kick to Han & will be missed. Also, with Luke being a Jedi Master he should have felt Chewie's death. The only thing that makes sense is maybe he is not dead and in some future chapter of Prime we will find him a prisoner. (which is what I personally hope happens).
