Summary: Not the best, not the worst
Review: I have read every post ROTJ book released and have to say I didnt find this one that great. To me it lacked originality. Haven't we already had an alien race come in from another galaxy(Truce at Bakura)? Luke has had numerous women leave him because of some problem that they want to deal with by themselves and it happens again. Hasn't Lando set up numerous dodgy mining operations before and put Han in the middle of something?

Ignoring that, the story was OK. The new characters were pretty good(Is Danni force sensitive and if so, why was she working on a scientific oupost as she obviously new about it) and the move away from everyone surviving every battle was a good one although a little upsetting!

Summary: A Pleasant Surprise
Review: I just finished reading "Vector Prime" after not being able to put it down. I've always been a big fan of Salvatore's and was shocked when I found out he was taking the "Star Wars" plunge. As with all of his fantasy books he did a superb job - the writing flowed fantastically and the story was incredible.

Until now I've been very disappointed with most of the Star Wars novels that I've read, and have simply stayed away from them. Coming in on "Vector Prime" wasn't a problem - because I thought Salvatore did a good job of filling in any background information that was necessary - and he kept it brief.

I am so intirigued by the new menace that has come to haunt the New Republic - that I plan on going on to read the books that follow under "The New Jedi Order." The Yuuzhan Vong are just the shot that the Star Wars series needed to become interesting again.

On a side note - I recommend that interested readers get "Rogue Planet." I believe that there is a lot of background information there that will probably surface in the future concerning the Yuuzhan Vong.

Summary: MAGNIFICANT!
Review: "Vector Prime" is the first book in the STAR WARS novels I've read. I picked it up at a book store, planning only to read it until the books I ordered arrived, but I got into the story so much I've gotten addicted to the series, I've ordered two more. "Vector Prime" is wonderfully written and has action after action. It has fallowed up on the characters very well and has given us the chance to witness, possiblely the down fall of our beloved characters. The introduction of the Yuuzhan Vong gives our heros a worthy villan. Plus, the writer adds something to the story that will change the lives of our hero's forever.

If you haven't read this book, read it, if you have read this book, read it again!

Summary: Very interesting indeed, but with some flaws
Review: A very Star Wars book, full of action, with all our well known and loved characters, and with some interesting new ones. I was fascinated by the book, it was fast paced and intriguing, and, at last, we have gotten rid of all incompetent "would be" emperors and warlords (with, of course, the exception of Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose brilliance goes without question, but then, he is dead!)

I was saddened by the death of a beloved persona (no, I won't tell the name, though I don't think it's a secret among fans), but accepted it. After all, after all those years of battling against the Empire, Thrawn, kidnappers, crazy Admirals & Dark Jedi, it is only logical that someone was bound to die, even with the legendary Solo luck and Luke's strength in the Force to protect the family and friends.

However, although it was a great Star Wars story that kept me reading it way into the night, in fact kept me almost sleepless for three days until I finished it, I have to admit it was a mediocre Sci-Fi book. I mean, what previous writers talked about was scientifically plausible (think about cloning!). But this book : having a people come in from another galaxy and be humanoid, so humanoid in fact that with a little disguise noone can tell them from humans? Come on, what are the chances of such parallel development between galaxies lightyears apart? And not only that, but they speak a language that C3PO can translate without any hesitation? They come from a different GALAXY for heaven's sake! Here on earth there are dead languages that we cannot translate despite having records of them, despite all being languages spoken by humans, and yet the extra-galactic Vong speak a language that 3PO can simultaneously translate?

Also, the idea of being "invisible" by the force is not new, the Ssi Ruuk in the "Truce at Bakura" also had it, why not develop their story more? What happened to them, anyway?

And finally, did Mara have to be ill? She was my favorite heroine, so full of life and with a character so distinct that she really stood out. I have already observed that noone other than Timothy Zahn has managed to portray her as she deserves. But to turn her into an ailing, albeit courageous middle aged woman was, in my opinion, quite disappointing. And it doesn't allow for her relationship with Luke to evolve, nor does it leave room for children, and why shouldn't they have some to continue the Skywalker line?

All in all, a good book, and well worth reading. The new story line has started in a very promising way. Let's hope that the few flaws will be corrected in following books. I have already ordered Stackpole's duology Dark Tide and expect a lot from the author of "I, Jedi"

Summary: If you can do better, I invite you to try...
Review: This is what rattles me. I see opinion after opinion trashing this book. But that is what they all are... OPINIONS! But every one expressed feels the purity and truth behind their words. That's the problem. Your not right. Your not wrong. Your just expressive. My opinion of this book is a favorable one. Salvatore does a good job with the story and characters though I know we all have our expectations of developement, and sometimes things don't go the way we expect. I really take umbrage to the opinions of people that trash him as a no talent hack. He is a novelist. What are you? It's so easy to judge but why don't some of you expert reviewers try writing a SW novel sometime. Any novel for that matter. I applaud Salvatore's effort and have to say I enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Bre's
Review: Firstly, I'd like to say what I liked about this book. Finally, the safety of the characters is no longer assured, adding to the tension. The Solo children have their own personalites. The galaxy is no longer some big, happy playground where no one of importance gets hurt. It starts of in a new direction, and breathes a little life into that far away galaxy. It has a good plot. The characterisations - with the exception of Han and Mara (few people get them right) - are good.

Now for what I didn't like. The writing style is very ordinary. Too ordinary. This may be a Star Wars book, but that is no reason why a few literary niceties can't be included. Second, are Luke and Mara really in love? Because they sure aren't acting like it? And why, may I ask, have they no children yet? I thought that the fans of Star Wars would be thrilled to see Luke as a father. They're both getting to old. Something needs to be done about this.

Summary: Not for the casual Star Wars Fan.
Review: This is an incredible book by a formidable author, but I can't recommend it for a casual fan. First of all, a character you'd NEVER expect to die bites the bullet.Secondly, though anybody can understand the book, its a big help if you've already read some other novels, since many of the locales and characters aren't even mentioned in the movies. This is definitely a book for fans of the Extended Universe. Regardless, this book is an experience. It has great characters, (especially for fans who are already acquainted with the X-wing, Jedi Order and Hand of Thrawn books), a great story and good action. HIghly recommended.

Summary: One word... PERFECT
Review: This book is one of the most complete and thorough additions to the Star Wars Universe. R.A. Salvatore adds a wonderful touch to the developing relationship between Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker. The introduction to the Yuzzhan Vong provides a fresh new enemy to be dealt with, and a powerful one indeed. A MUST buy for ANY Star Wars fan!

Summary: Great Beginning to a New Era
Review: This was an excellent novel. It definitely shows that the balance of power is not only changing in the Star Wars galaxy (with the corruptness spreading through the New Republic government and the invading Yuuzhan Vong), but also in the Jedi Order. Jaina, Jacen, and Anakin prove in this novel that they are worthy of the title Jedi Knight. They will become the leaders of the Jedi one day. This book is great for anyone who has read other books in the Star Wars series, but it also stands alone quite well for anyone just starting to read Star Wars. I look forward to the upcoming books in the New Jedi Order series.

Summary: The New Era
Review: I have often wondered about the journey of the Star Wars saga. Star Wars seemed to me, to be traveling very fast (Publishing more and more books) without going any where (slowly grinding to a hault; no dirrection),untill this new series was published. This book is FANTASTIC! It brings back the intrigue and adventure that we all know and love. I stongly reccommend you get this book and read it more than once.
