Rating: Summary: Bre's Review: This book follows in the tradition of it's tweo predessors. It is funny, but also meaningful. Allston has done a very good job in setting the stage for The Courtship of Princess Leia. The author sets the characters on their paths and pretty much leaves them to live their own lives. If you liked the X-Wing books, than read this one.
Rating: Summary: Not so big and bad Zsinj Review: I loved this book because it really expands the characters from the first 6 books.Zsinj is the perfect bad guy you just love to hate but he doesnt quite beat out Thrawn. I loved all the comedy elements up to and including Wedge's mutiny and Face's awesome practical jokes. This is a great book for everyone. Yub, Yub Commander.
Rating: Summary: Had its moments Review: This is among of the finest books in the X-Wing series that does a good job of combining the tactical elements with the ship to ship dogfights that are a trademark of the entire series. Unfortunately, these dogfights are not very exciting, and the tactical element is BADLY flawed. The Rebels do incredible amounts of damage, striking with all but total impunity at the Imperial ships. This is especially noticeable when a single Calamari Cruiser takes on a Super Star Destroyer towards the end and forces it to retreat. The book had its moments, however, like the infiltration and covert elements of the story. These were generally well written and compelling, and they were the most exciting parts of the book. Also, the attacks on the ending are unfounded. Anyone who scored a 7 on an IQ test will be able to understand what happened, and I think that the way the ending was setup throughout the book was artistic. Attacking the final sequence because it doesn't tell you EXACTLY what happened (it MERELY implies it throughout the entire book) is like saying that an author cannot write: ""Very well, we will settle this with a coin toss." The coin tumbled through the air." because the author never said that anyone flipped the coin! The reader is expected to have passed a second grade reading comprehension test. IF you liked the other X-Wing series books, then this is a good book. If you did not(or did not pass that Reading Comp test back in grade school), then this is best left on the shelf.
Rating: Summary: Great Review: This book was great. The only thing I have to say about it is that Zsinj ws pretty pathetic. He really doesn't live up to the Grand Admiral uniform. Look at Grand Admiral Thrawn! Tactical genius, and nearly crushed the New Replubic if it weren't for the Noghri.Zsinj isn't the Big Bad Guy of SW universe.
Rating: Summary: No words to appropriately describe this exellent book. Review: The best book I've ever read. Allston makes the life of a pilot sound like an exciting and daring adventure. And he picked his charactors so well. who woulda thunk that Solo woulda become commander of a star destroyer. An excellent book to use to convert anyone to the SWU.
Rating: Summary: Damn, Allston is good... Review: The X-Wing books have fulfilled the promise of what an independent Star Wars series could--and should--be. Rather than focusing on Luke, Han, Leia, and the Rest, we see a pack of original characters in the Star Wars universe, and get occasional cameos. Great drama--these guys, after all, can die (and yes, I *do* know about Vector Prime), often do. The writing style is concise, word choice is excellent, characters well-written (with, I must say, the lamentable exception of Wedge..he never seems like more than a talking Exposition device. I can't blame Allston for this, however). Very funny, with a lot of heart. Buy it, read it, you won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: is that supposed to be a pun? Review: I laughed so hard when I saw the title I fell over. Is it supposed to be a pun, or am I just too smart for my own good? The X-wing books all rule, but I enjoyed the Wraith ones more. I laughed so hard I cried at all three books! Wedge is my absoballylutely favourite character, and both Aaron and Mike present him well. These books all rule, and if this stupid computer would let me, I'd give them a six out of five!
Rating: Summary: THE BEST X-WING BOOK OUT Review: THIS ONE IS THE BEST. You got to like han solo. and the roguesare back i repeat the rogues are back. That's why itl just might be thebest. It was uiet surpriing to hear the wraiths becoming an intelligence squad then an x-wing squad but there's bound to be another book about the wraiths and there 'hopefully' many missions afterwards. those damn wraiths grow on ya. YOU GOT TO LOVE 'EM. WELL SEE YA WRAITHS NICE KNOWING YA. END
Rating: Summary: So so Review: For those who've already read "The Courtship of Princess Leia," you alrady know the ending of this one. Han Solo seems to be out of character commanding a Mon Cal Cruiser. Even in "Return of the Jedi" he was doing covert stuff as a General. It seems that he would be more aptly placed within a group like Wraith Squadron were he could use his true talents. The battle segments in this book are a bit confusing - especially the last part about how Zsinj escapes.
Rating: Summary: A must read! Review: This is defenetley a good read. It follows in the tradition of all the other books in the X-Wing series.
