Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Haydon matures as an author with "Prophecy" Review: I purchased "Rhapsody" last year after succumbing to the hype, and although I enjoyed it, I did not feel it entirely deserved the overwhelming praise it received. The characters acted extremely inconsistently, Haydon's writing was jarringly rough in places, and Rhapsody's constant "adopting" of children, her brattiness, and her overwhelming perfection were quite irritating. In "Prophecy," however, it seems that Haydon has finally found her stride, and she has become a much more polished writer.Gone at last are several of the qualities I found so obnoxious in the character of Rhapsody. Although she is still prone to teenager-like flashes of irrational behavior (despite her true age!), she, along with the other characters, acts in a much more consistent manner. This book focuses more on Ashe, and we finally learn exactly who he is and what has happened to him. I really enjoyed his character -- he and his intentions remain mysterious for the vast majority of the book, and it was fun guessing at the outcome. Haydon's structural style has also improved with "Prophecy." The book didn't drag nearly as much as "Rhapsody" did, and the foreshadowing was subtle but effective. I already look forward to reading the next book. There were a few things I didn't like. "Prophecy" reads like a romance novel in several places, and has *lots* of sex. Some of the angst is way over the top, and in several places, it feels as if new characters are introduced only so we can (once again) see how beloved Rhapsody is. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed "Prophecy," and would recommend it. It ranks at about the same level as Goodkind or the first 6 Dragonlance novels -- not as good as Martin or Hobb, but definitely worth a read.

I could not put it down, and finished it in two days. The book is fast paced, containing humor and tragedy, action, twists and turns and timeless love. I already want to read PROPHECY again and the anticipation for the third book is already killing me. PROPHECY is the perfect continuation to RHAPSODY. The series now stands as one of my all time favorite trilogies--even though the third book isn't published, I am positive it will be just as wonderful as the previous two.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Wonderful Follow-Up! Review: I have been eagerly awaiting this book since I finished up "Rhapsody" back in December. The wait has been worth it. I got my copy of "Prophecy" on Saturday and I would have finished it on Sunday had life not interfered (damn life!) I wrapped it up this morning (Monday) and am very pleased. The characters held true to who they were (this is not always the case with 'new' authors, or even old authors). It was a delight beyond description to be back with Rhapsody, to grow with her, to be in Grunthor's company, to be reminded that, harsh as he is, Achmed is a good person to have as an ally. Not only was this a wonderful follow-up, it was also an improvement. This is hard for me to say, as I adored the first book. Storywise, there is more. We're starting to get into some real issues ~ finding the F'dor, uniting the Cymarians, ending the strife on the continent. Not that the other book didn't have issues. It did. But now we're starting to tackle heavier, more time consuming issues, ready to get down to the task of bringing about peace. War is just below the surface of everything, ready to errupt, and our characters are getting ready to deal with that. We are coming into contact with races we haven't yet been exposed to (Dhracians, for example) and while, in the last book, we were teased with threads of the web, in this book it is starting to fit together very nicely. More prophecies are revealed, more problems, and more characters. And Dragons. Let's not forget the Dragons. If I were to find a flaw with this, it would be only that we see Grunthor less, I think, than in the first book. Or maybe I just miss him. :o) Well, that and it's riddled with typos, but that isn't Elizabeth's fault and it's a very minor thing. All of this has me eager, once again, for the next book. November couldn't come soon enough! Wonderful, wonderful job, Elizabeth! This lives up to the first book and surpasses it. Congrats! I highly recommend this book. Fans of Robin Hobb, J.V. Jones, and Melanie Rawn would, I think, very much enjoy Elizabeth Haydon's work.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Loved it even more than Rhapsody Review: Great book! Most of the time in series the second book is weak and makes me lose interest, but this one was even better than the first. I think Grunthor and Achmed have to be two of the greatest characters ever written for fantasy. The music in this book is amazing. I love the songs for the Sleeping Child and the marching chants for the Bolg. It made me feel totally awful to see it end. A book like this should be regulated 'cause its' intoxicating.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Definately worth waiting for! Review: This book is fabulous! I first picked up Rhapsody and read that and I couldn't wait for the story of Rhapsody, Achmed, Grunthor, and Ashe to continue and once again I can't wait for another installment. The way Ms. Haydon writes is magical. The story deals with elements that are common to sciece fiction, but the way it is composed, this book is a refreshing in its plot twists. I found that this book impossible to put down. BUY THIS BOOK!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I love this book. I love this author Review: It's been a very long time since I have been pulled inot a world this deep. RHapsody was an awesome book and I thought it might just be a fluke, something someone spent theyre lifetime writing and would never be able to live up to again, kind of like the very disappointing books that followed Outlander and Wizards first Rule. That is not the case with Prophecy. If anything, this book is better than the first, funny and frightening and wonderous. Elizabeth Haydon is a rarely talented writer, someone who I will always buy in hardcover. I highly recommend this book and this series.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: At last! Review: I have been hungering for this book since last fall when I read Rhapsody. Haydon is an extremely talented author, certainly the brightest to come along in this field for a long time. Her characters are well drawn and her use of language is superlative. My favorite is Achmed, the sour mooded king of the Firbolg, but was a hard choice between him and Grunthor, who is even more visible in this book than he was in the first. Haydon's female characters are not the cool and flawless heroines of more typical writing styles. This was worth every minute of the wait. Great; now I have to suffer for a year until Destiny: Child of the Sky.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A must read Review: All Goodkind books are a must read, this one undoubtedly ranks up with the best of his. It has been eagerly anticpated, do not hesitate to make the purchase
