Summary: Building a future......
Review: It seems that we have an author that has put our hero's and future hero's back on track. They are actually working as one. Even though Han is still grieving over the loss of Chewie, Leia still feels his presence around her. The Solo children (I really shouldn't call them children because they are becoming adults) are learning from the Master. Luke and Mara were more believable as husband and wife in this book. One could feel the unspoken love between them.................... I am now waiting for part 2.

Summary: A New Order, A New Face for Stackpole
Review: This is a very strong book that makes the Yuuzhan Vong out to be the threat they always should have been. The sequences with Anakin, and Jaina add to their characters. The only thing that I missed was Jacen and Like's continuing debate about whether or not to reform the Jedi council. I was surprised by Stackpole's faster, cleaner, neater depictions of combat, and of his apparent mastery of the ground (after that idiot Corran decided to put a cubix zarchonia into his lightsaber). I must say that though I have not enjoyed many of his previous books, I am looking forward to X-Wing 9(?) with Jaina as a member of Rogue Squadron.

Summary: "Star Wars TNG"
Review: Here we get "Old Luke" where "Old Ben" was once sitting--he has graduated a number of younger Jedi (including his niece and nephews). He is also married, when I'd thought that the Jedi were a lot like some knights and western heroes--the extent of the role of women in their lives is to rescue them. Luke's not the only married Jedi--Corran Horn of Stackpole's X-Wing series was already hitched but he's been through Luke's Academy. We also have Bothan extremist Borsk Feyl'ya as the current Republic head of. Last I knew, he was the "galaxy far away's" equivalent to Pat Buchanan--all bluster, xenophobia and conspiracy theories. You see, the Republic is now nonhuman-run and the element who blames the human race in its entirety for the Empire (Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader and all) is in the forefront. Jedi Knights have become a mistrusted "special interest group". The only real squawk I have, though, is that this book is the only one of this series in paperback and it isn't the opener--that one's still in hardcover. So I guess I'm going to be reading this cycle out of sequence.

Summary: IT Ok
Review: hEY WHAT I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WAS WHY WAS JACEN SO DARK AND ALMOST MOODY? IN THE YOUNG JEDI KNIGHTS HE WAS ALWAYS MAKING JOKES, EVEN IN TOUGH SITUATIONS. AND JAINA AND LEIA ALWAYS SEEMED CLOSER THAN THEY WERE HERE OTHER THAN THAT I THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD

Summary: Pretty Good!
Review: I enjoyed this book. Light reading, yes, but entertaining none-the-less. However, I have a problem with depiction of Han Solo. This "I'm hurt so now I'm a worthless sponge" bit is not in keeping with his character. I'm afraid it's a move to distance us from him, so the author can kill him off in a heroic, selfless sacrifice (to make up for his behavior). Other than this, great book!

Summary: Redemption
Review: Michael Stackpole is pretty talented. After I read Vector Prime, I was ready to toss the whole "alien race coming to get us" into a garbage can. Onslaught did a good job of making them a real threat, and having our heroes deal with them. I also like his development of the Jedi. Jacen's interior search, Jaina's struggling out of her mother's shadow, and Anakin's learning to "walk without his crutch" were all compelling. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Summary: WWYD
Review: Having missed out on Vector Prime (I don't pay extra for hardcover), I came into Onslaught kind of flat-footed. While the Yuuzhan Vong were fascinating (Star Wars really needed a new villain), the battle scenes were good, and most of the character development was beneficial, there were what I would consider some holes in the plot. The most glaring one was Han Solo going off on a drunken binge while his wife and children are risking their lives on the other side of the galaxy. You'd think after 25 years of being a family man he'd have grown up a litle more than that. Especially the part about Anakin and Han both blaming themselves for Chewie's death seems kind of stupid. People who live so dangerously really shouldn't be so surprised when somebody doesn't make it back, as if they were all invincible. So in short, I think the characters' reactions to Chewie's death should have been handled differently. On the other hand I liked the development of the Jedi ethic of self-restraint learned by Anakin. It seems very consistent with Yoda's teaching/example (What Would Yoda Do?) and gave the story more background continuity to the Episode I era Jedi. I am looking forward to seeing how the new Jedi finally settle their differences. I think Luke needs to preach a little more about the dark side.

Summary: Not Very Good ...
Review: This Author shouldn't be allowed to write within or about the Star Wars Universe.

I've read Stockpole's "I, JEDI" and I wouldn't recommend that book to anyone who likes reading about the Star Wars Universe. I thought the book lacked any credibility.

This book has (in my opinion) gone in the same direction. Lacking any credibility. Stackpole takes a fantastic story idea and trashes it unmercilessly. What a pity !

Summary: What do you mean, she's not a Jedi!
Review: The book was good. After the massacre of some of our beloved characters, this one had a lot more to offer: the storyline is on the spot and the battle scenes are very good. But I agree with the others that it could have been longer.

What most surprised me is the 3 or 4 pages Han Solo got and the amazing fact that Leia is not considered a Jedi?

I'm stunned by this information because in the latest books there was no doubt that she was! She trained, eventhough she never spent time at the Academy. Luke considers her a Jedi and whether we liked the book or not, she DID go through her own test of facing herself in SW:Planet of Twilight. So what's all this about her not being a Jedi. And to top it all off, it's her own daughter who makes the call! Come on, Mr. Stackpole, this is ridiculous.

You wrote a good book, but details make them great.

Summary: Another Great book by Stackpole
Review: The Book was great. We were supposed to read one book in six weeks for english and of the 7 that i read i reported on this one. I like the real life problems that were addressed in the book, like the failing New Rebublic government and the coming of age of the young Jedi Knights. I am eagerly awating the next book.
