Summary: Carol Berg does it again!
Review: This is the final book in her trilogy and is as good as, if not better than, the first two. I was told about her by a good friend and could hardly wait for the first one. Ever since, I have put in advanced order for her books.
She is an excellent writer with the ability to make you visualise entire scenes. Her dialogue, discriptions and charactersations are excellent!! I was so engrossed in "Restoration" that I managed to read it in one day! (Being a homemaker helped!) I can't wait to see what she will gift us with next.

Summary: Too much. I have had enough.
Review: This is the third book by Carol Berg that I have read. The first was Transformation the second was Revelation and the third was Restoration. Enough !! The first two books were exellent but the theme gets repeatative. I couldn't get farther than the first hundred pages for book number three. The plot is convoluted but I could kind of guess what was coming next. More hard spots for the hero and then the ultimate sacrifice. I have seen that before in book number two and one. I do not recommend this book. You need to know about the first two books to get full value for the third book, but after the first two you get bored reading the same basic plot. I really do recommend book one and two since Carol Berg is an original writer who breaks new ground in the science fiction genre. The hero Seyonne is a new type. A broken down hero who finds the courage to rise again. However enough is enough !

Summary: A ray of light in a fantasy world of increasing conformity
Review: When I first saw this series upon the shelf of a used book store, I was skeptical. But after the first few pages, Berg's novels held me captive and unable to tear my eyes off the page.
As an avid fantasy reader, I can assuredly assert that many of the novels in fantasy are becoming ever more similar, with the familiar plot of an evil villian, the "knight in shining armour", and etc. Although Berg's story line does somewhat follow this theme, she presents it in a totally new way. Seyonne's plight for a peaceful life after slavery and exile appeals to the reader, causing one to sympathize when nothing seems to go well for Seyonne. The first person point of view allows the reader to become Seyonne, feeling what he feels. In this last book of the trilogy, Seyonne must keep hold of his sanity, fighting of the demon he joined with. He has become more interested in the roles that the demons once played in the lives of the Ezzarians and seeks to unravel the mysterious lies that his society has based itself upon.
For the sake of keeping the plot from being revealed to interested persons, I will comment no more, except to say that if you have not read the first two, they are a must.
Carol Berg, you have my full appreciation and gratitude for allowing me to regain faith in the world of fantasy. It is possible to find a series that is not exactly like the last.

Summary: Hard to believe it's the last book in the series
Review: With "Restoration" Carol Berg brings her excellent Rai-Kirah series to an end. This book can only really be appreciated if you have read parts 1 & 2 of the series (Transformation and Relevation). It's hard to know what to write and not give away any major plotlines.

In this book Seyonne finds some hard won, and unexpected truths about the ancient war that ripped his homeland apart. He also finds he must make a larger sacrifice than he ever dreamed to prevent himself creating a worse situation in the future.

The other characters you grew to enjoy in books 1 & 2 are not forgotten here, but the real strengh of these books is in the character of the narrator, Seyonne. He keeps the books "centered" and you have a central character who you really care about and can understand.

All three of these books were an enjoyable read and I look forward to more books by this author. I hope they live up this fantastic first run series.
