Rating: Summary: best sci-fi/horror book ....ever Review: I'm not a huge fan of the resident evil games, only have played the first, second, and some of code veronica. I picked this book up on a whimp, having nothing better to do, but once i started reading i couldn't stop. This doesn't just repeat the first game's story, but also filling in some of the gaps that the game has. Thus making a nice fluid story, with great character vocies too! Anywho...buy this book wiether your a big fan of the games or not, it's almost a garunteed hit.
Rating: Summary: Better each time I read it Review: I've read this book about 5 times and I never get tired of it. My copy is falling apart though (a couple of my friends have read it to). All the books in the series were great (except Code: Veronica). This is my favorite video game series next to Final Fantasy. I think that since the original Resident Evil has been remade for the GameCube, S.D. Perry should write a remake of her book which follows the new game. The original is great, but Rebirth is better. The action and horror are multiplied with Lisa Trevor, Crimson Heads, and new rooms. I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping Ms. Perry will write a book based on the remake.
Rating: Summary: a well written, exciting book. Review: Im into scifi and i love resident evil i also enjoy reading. i didnt thnk Resident Evil would be any "award winning book", a book i may add that is based on a video game, and not to appealing to alot of people. i decided to give it a try. Not only did it thuroughly entice me with its magnificent "follow the game" story, but it provided a viewpoint for every character, which is a unique plus. I have read this book twice andenjoy that it holds nothing back as if it might because young kids read it, and to my surprise is superbly written, congras to S.D Perry. Im 16, my dad 45. He is an inteligent man and does not like video games and like me did not expect to enjoy this book. he thought it was great and has a knew found respect for Resident Evil. This is a marvelous book for every fan of resisdent evil, scifi, or anyone who likes to read.
Rating: Summary: 2 and 1/2 stars -------------**1/2 Review: Maybe I walked into this series with the wrong mindset--- I was expecting another game/book adaption on par with the DOOM books. I quickly realized it would not be so. The characters are interesting enough I guess if they weren't so cliched. Perry's writing is often amateurish (spelling). I am only 16, and this is the kind of material that I produced when I was 12/13. This is not a bad thing, mind you. I suppose for hardcore gamers this is a fun experience. Is it a crime to look for more than mindless glorified strategy-guide material in a adaption like this???? Some men named Hugh and Linaweaver proved that it wasn't w/ Doom. I haven't played the game, but I have seen it played on the Cube. What perry needed to work on was establishing a MOOD and ATMOSHPHERE. I wanted this book to chew at my subconcious and get under my skin. But it was too shallow. To Perry's credit are here excellent and gut-wrenching descriptions of the creatures themselves. When Perry talks about rotting flesh and bullets punturing the skulls of drooling zombies, I see a dedication that should have been applied to the rest of the book. I can still recommend this book however, to provide background in order to read CALIBAN COVE.
Rating: Summary: Awsome!! Review: I bought this book two years ago but just finished reading it for the 4th time. Once I start reading this book I can't put it down, it's so intense. It's close to the game but not so close it makes it seem like you are reading the walkthrough. It's very well written all the way down to the bloodiest detail. I recommend this book for anyone who is a fan of Resident Evil!
Rating: Summary: excellent book... Review: This book is the 2nd best in the series. Caliban Cove was just terrible, City Of The Dead is the best, Underworld is decent, Nemesis was good, and Code:Veronica was somewhat lacking. But this one tells the story from pretty much every main character's point of view. Jill, Chris, Wesker, Barry, and even Brad are spotlighted in the types of POV. Most of the puzzles and rooms are replicated perfectly throughout the book, except for a couple (like the armor puzzle, where Jill just breaks the glass and takes the item inside). The ending is alright. There are also some good parts, like some history of the mansion, the Keeper's Diary (Itchy. Tasty.) being in the book, and a few awesome fights with the creatures inhabiting the Spencer mansion. Overall, an excellent story, that would be even better than before if they added story points and things from the remake, like Lisa Trevor and the Crimson Head/Crimson Elder, new puzzles, and stuff like that. Great Buy!
Rating: Summary: amazing , edge of your seat action Review: this i found was the best book of the series. It really shows the thoughtfullness it needs to take a video game and turn it into a best-selling book. It shows the true conflict between umbrella inc./albert wesker and the real s.t.a.r.s. operatives. iI strongly suggest this book to anyone who has heard of or played the game. This book makes you feel like your actually in the book! It really illustrates the true meaning of friendship between Jill and Barry plus a lot of action
Rating: Summary: RE:The Umbrella Conspiracy is a good start. Review: S.D. Perry gets the Resident Evil saga of to a good start with this book. Alot of things I had a hard time understanding in the game are made better for me to understand in the book. My only gripe is that I knew, generally, what would happen in the book because of playing the game. Yet, even so, it doesn't mar my reading the book. It's a really good book. One you ought to check out.
Rating: Summary: My good'ol review Review: First off, this was a good book. Dont think that it will (be bad) from the movie. This follows the Playstation version quite well. S.D. Perry did a good job writing this. My applause to her. This book did very well with detail. Very nice with giving the story a twist in the beginning before the characters entered the mansion. In some spots it seemed that it was alittle slow with talking. But it still held it very well and kept flowing. It also adds a new perspective to how the characters felt in the ordeal that you could not tell from the video game. This book also gave very good detail to how the mansion layout was. It made it very easy in some parts to envision the building. There was also great detail to how the zombies and other evil geneticly altered creatures were detailed. Good description to how they died. :-) (Not a book I would let a 8-year old read). Also in the end it made the battle between Tyrant and the other S.T.A.R.S. members almost an exact from the game. When they were on the helipad it was described how they fought the giant mutant. I was able to envision how they were set on the helipad and how they were facing and fighting the monster. Good detail to how it was finaly put to rest when Brad Vickers in the circling chopper overhead droped the rocket launcher to Jill Valentine to put down Tyrant for good. Very good reading in my opinion. I recomend this book to any fan of the Resident Evil games. I think this book does deserve the 5 star rating...
Rating: Summary: under the umbrella Review: When random corpses are found savagely torn up and dismembered, the Special Tactics and Rescue Squad are called in to do an investigation on the brutal murders. The Umbrella Corporation, known for their expirements, becomes a key suspect when all the incidents in the mountain-community of Raccoon City lead to the Spencer Estate, an annex of Umbrella. A strange, flesh-eating virus has bestowed itself upon the isolated Mansion. Follow the S.T.A.R.S as they witness all the unearthly effects that the virus has had on the place after all the expirements gone wrong, and encounter gentically altered creatures which have a strong appetite for blood. The S.T.A.R.S are pushed beyond their experience and have little time left before the virus gets out, free to infect all of Raccoon City and anthing else in it's way. I really enjoyed this suspensful novel. I liked the feeling I got of being kind of terrified for them once I read far enough into novel and could imagine myself in the same situation.
