Rating: Summary: an arch missing a keystone.... Review: This was an amazing link between The Forest House and The Mists of Avalon. And an almost perfect book, except for a few things. I the first part of the book, Ms. Bradley doesn't seem to know where she wants her "hero" to go with his life. The second part is almost useless, unless you enjoy reading about politics instead of people...which is ok if that's your thing. The last part is absolutely incredible. Viviane is the most interesting character and it's nice to see what the characters that start off "Mists" are like before they were the Lady of Avalon or the wife of Gorlois and Uther....Beautiful ending to the book.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I am only on page 175 of "The Lady of Avalon" but already I am in love. I started it yesterday! Though it is not as good as "The Mists of Avalon" it is between "The Forest House" and "Mists..." I read the books in the order they were written and am very grateful for the linking between the past and the future... its is great to have a sense of foreboding when reading, though in many instances you are filled with suspense!
Rating: Summary: Best Bradley Book Yet Review: This book is a wonderful voyage through the tales of three people that reincarnate into each others lives time and time again. The characters in this book have such depth you feel as though their family. This is the kind of book you read over and over again. It is worth every penny that you will spend on it. Do not just pass it by, read it! Otherwise you will be missing out.
Rating: Summary: Enchanting! Review: I loved this book! As Bradley spins her tales of the High Priestesses of three seperate periods, linking them through reincarnation, you feel their pain, cry their tears, and find comfort in their love. This has to be one of my favorite books I have read yet of hers and it just makes me want to see more of the same!
Rating: Summary: No words can describe the emotions this book brings forth. Review: I read Bradley's "Mist's..." first and this one second. If you've ever been really in love, this book will remind you of that once in a life time feeling. Don't get me wrong, this book is a true Bradley book in the fact that it has everything from action scenes to love scenes. I have to say that this book touched me deeply. I cried with it and laughed with it and will read it over and over whenever I need a relief.
Rating: Summary: An excellent background Review: "The forests..." and "Lady of Avalon" are perhaps not as good as "the Mists...", but the books together is truly fantastic. The purpose of the two newest books is to give the background of "The Mists..." as much as to tell a good story, and they do the first excellent. "Lady..." is better than "The Forests..." because the storys are shorter; still each story is excellently written, and I find it fascinating to follow the ancesters of the characters of "The Mists...". A must for everyone who loved "The Mists" - even though this IS NOT a new "Mists of Avalon" - or maybe therefore!
Rating: Summary: Comperably difficult and shallow Review: Compared to "The Mists of Avalon" (a marvelous book) and even "The Forest House" (which was a shade off the first but still readable) this book rings hollow. Sadly so, because it is broken into three parts with a great deal of potential to explore various segments of history between the first two novels. Somehow it comes up lacking; as if the author simply missed the characters and times, and revisited both with mediocre success. The energy of the first, and the trauma of the second, is lacking. If you truly enjoyed "The Forest House," however, and wish to revel in the legacy of Eilan and her lover, you may enjoy this as well.
Rating: Summary: Not as Good as the Mists Review: This story started outrather slow, and it was a little confusing going back in time from the Mists of Avalon, but soon you get used to it. The book didn't pick up the pace until the middle of the book, but then it was wonderful! I have also read Bradley's other books, but I don't think anything has come close to the Mists of Avalon.
Rating: Summary: Not Mists of Avalon, but what else is? Review: I might have liked it better if it had been by an unknown author--decent fantasy, but not all that wonderful. It doesn't have the intense sense of place of Mists of Avalon, and it gets frankly silly now and then.I think a great part of the technical genius of Mists of Avalon was that it didn't give everything away. _Lady_ is too explicit, and too hokey. I don't really want a chant-by-chant breakdown of each and every ritual, and the magic is too much like magic in cheap fantasy novels, not the way it was handled in the earlier book, where everything seemed utterly credible while you were reading. Not the best.
Rating: Summary: Doesn't measure up. Review: While I absolutly loved The Mists of Avalon, and was rather amused by Forest House, it seems that this book was put out only as a filler. The story lines were rather weak, and highly predictable. It simply doesn't match the author's extraordinary talents
