Rating: Summary: Zahn's plot astounding once more, but characters need work Review: I have always thought of Zahn as the greatest author in Star Wars. He has kept George Lucas's masterpiece alive and vibrant with the Heir to the Empire series. But greatest of all was Thrawn, the ultimate machine of intellect any Star Wars fan craves for. This latest duo, the Spectre of the Past and Vision of the Future, have managed to breath life into a dead character, and spin a plot the equal of the original. But sadly, it was tainted by a not-so-glamorous ending where everything just stops and no truly brilliant scene takes place. Just an end. This is shown through a quite sudden conclusion with Luke and Mara. This should never have happened, and a more casual relationship should have continued, which is what made the interaction between these two so wonderful and fun. Zahn tries to end several ideas he created, but leaves a narrow gap for future stories in the Star Wars legacy. If you're going to end the series, end it dramatically and completely, in a manner where no one has any doubts about any characters or ideas any more.
Rating: Summary: A perfect ending Review: This book, was the culmination of almost ten years of incredible SW Books, started when Zahn began his first Thrawn series. I had notices some problems, seeming inconsistencies, unanswered questions, and untied ends with the first Thrawn trilogy. I read every SW book since then, which, if anything, added to these problems and questions. Zahn did an unbelievable job is answering everyone of my problems and questions, and ending the whole series SW books. If no one wrote another SW Book, this would be the perfect ending point. This book is very well written, possibly the best of all the SW novels, the plot seemingly weaves itself into a complicated yet beautiful tapestry. I would suggest this book to anyone. If you have read the first Thrawn Series, of any other SW novel, you simply must read this book.
Rating: Summary: Star wars rocks! not this book though Review: Backgound: I am a 10 year old who loves star wars.I read verywell for my age and love these books. when I read the tharn troilogy Icouldn't love any books more Then Zahn came up with this horrible mess no author could fix! it is a black mark on great reputation. THe plotline is imposible to follow and boring and after loving the thawn seris I read this work i don't want to descide in much detail. Zahn filled it with babble and crud. what was hw trying to do set a record for worst book ever? Buy this book if you love bordom. stay away!
Rating: Summary: Zahn's a genius Review: Zahn's an absolute genius. This book was absballylutely great. The Tierce clone was very nasty. And Luke is FINALLY getting married to Mara Jade. Who would have thought of it?
Rating: Summary: The story all Star Wars fans have to read Review: Zahn is the best Star Wars writer ever. Only he could integrate all the storylines done by other authors and come out with a page-turner like this one. This is the story that ends the "fear of the empire" after 20 years of fighting. The book has some very interesting insights on the force and on the characters we all know and love. However, do read "Specter of the Past" (Hand of Thrawn I) first. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: A page turner and definitely a lot of pages to turn! Review: This is a great book! Every book by Zahn always is. I do not give too many 5 stars but this could be a 6 star book. It hooked me right away. I read about 150 pages the day that I finshed it. Zahn can write action very well. It has so many pages that it actually lasts and you are not done in 2 days. Did anyone else notice how Zahn loves to say countered and twitched? It would be fun to count how many times he did. I think Zahn is a great author and great at writing Star Wars, I hope he keeps it up! I guess if you read any other reviews it is no secret Mara and Luke get married. I love that as an ending. I think they are perfect together. It is too bad that it is ruined by a disease in the NJO. (New Jedi Order) In short this is a great book that is certainly not just for Star Wars fans. Congratulations, Zahn, on yet another great book!
Rating: Summary: This Book is EXCELLENT Review: Bravo Zahn,I would Altimatly suggest this book to ANYONE. Esspecially Star Wars Fans. Go Zahn!

Was time toLuketo have a wife, really, he has more years that Yoda and now isgetingmarried with Mara Jade, the woman that one time she wanted to kill him! It's very strange that. Read this book,is very good!. END
Rating: Summary: One of the Best SW Books Out There! Review: This book had me reeled in right from the beginning! I didn't put it down until it was finished! Zhan portrays his Star Wars books excellantly. He knows how to give his characters depth and understanding. He did a fantastic job writing the book that marked the end of the empire. And of course, Luke and Mara Jade! I had hoped someone would get those two together finally! And no one could have done it better than Zhan. Too bad it had to be followed by Vector Prime though, but what can you do. Just read this book, its fantastic!
Rating: Summary: The Best in the Business Review: A MUST READ! Zahn set the whole Star Wars book line in motion with the Thrawn Trilogy, and this duology goes right next to them in my SW Hall of Fame. Zahn hooked me with his first SW books, and this one was like mind candy- exactly what I wanted, pulled off with class and style. Kinda like baby boomers being nostalgic, this book took me back to what I consider the "Golden Era" of Star Wars, when Luke, Leia and Han were still young and out to save the galaxy. As for Luke and Mara: thank goodness! There's two sides to this argument- too bad it took 17 years to finally find him the right girl, but thank god the other authors didn't attempt this! If KJA had, the wedding probably would have turned into a front seat at a catfight match between Callista and Mara. (Sure it sounds unrealistic-but this is KJA we're talking about). Zahn is THE best SW author- I wish that he had written all the SW books. Can't wait for the next one!
