Rating: Summary: An Excellent Finale to the Saga begun by Zahn ! Review: WOW ! What a great book...this book was definitely a fitting ending to the new Star Wars begun by Timothy Zahn ! I still can't believe that Luke actually married Mara - I was suspecting and hoping all along, but who woulda thought...? Well, it was a well-written novel with a great story line. A must read for ALL Star Wars fans !!!
Rating: Summary: Zahn outdoes himself with his characterizations and plot. Review: THIS REVEALS SOME PLOT POINTS. With a wonderful way of tying up seemingly incompatible plot lines into one coherent story, Timothy Zahn proves his point all over again. Grand Admiral Thrawn was a powerful being and his death, whether real or apparent, does nothing to hamper that power. We learn a great deal more about the character of Thrawn in this novel, that he was more than a one-sided villian, and that his true genius came from his ability to predict and thus control future possiblities. Presenting a major turning point on almost all fronts, especially for Luke and the New Republic as a whole, Zahn manages to work more than a bit of symbolism into the book. With the spectacular surprise ending, Zahn leaves us wanting answers to the questions he saves for another story. What is to me the most interesting part of the story, its title, presents the reader with a possible double meaning. Certainly it refers to Luke's and Mara's visions of the future, but after reading the ending and thinking about all the happenings in the book, the reader is left to wonder: could all that transpired have been a part of Thrawn's grand plan, his own vision of the future? Could Thrawn have engineered this from the beginning?
Rating: Summary: Zahn sweeps up the mess all the other SW authors created... Review: Zahn essentially uses this last "closing" book to the Bantam series to tie up all the loose ends he and other Star Wars authors left dangling. And he does it well. I stayed up till 3 am finishing this book - it was that engrossing. My only suggestion is that Zahn could have finished up the Morganda storyline...he leaves that one dangling. All in all, an excellent end to an excellent series. How fitting that Zahn both started and ended the Star Wars book craze.Word of warning to the reader: Don't read spoilers about this book! Do not skip ahead, either! If you know what happens ahead of time, this book will truly be ruined for you.
Rating: Summary: The very best of the best of the best Star Wars books. Review: This book is the undisputed champion of all Star Wars books. Leia and Han are put back into some real action, General Garm Bel Iblis is back with the fleet, General Wedge Antilles is back in the cockpit of an X-wing, the list goes on and on. There are some genuine threats for once, unlike in some other books where you can't help but feel the New Republic is winning too easily. It posseses alot of interesting background info about the past and fills us in on Grand Admiral Thrawn's history. A story like this really makes you wonder why so many Star Wars years have been wasted on books like "Darksaber", in which the bad guys keep losing and the good guys keep winning; and in which Callista isn't staying anyway so why include her? This book should have been written long ago. Everything that happens here (espesialy with Luke and Mara) should have happened long ago, giving other writers something solid and interesting to write about (unlike the crap in Crystal Star). We can only hope (our lord, the man, the legend) Timothy Zhan will write more. Luke deserves a companion. END
Rating: Summary: One Great book!! Review: It is great how Mara and Luke are now together.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: This final installment of the Hand of Thrawn series was superb. I have always been partial to the Zahn and Stackpole books that followed ROTJ and this latest book has been no exception. Zahn does a masterful job of capturing the essence of all the characters and adds wonderfully to the Star Wars universe! I also love the way he deals with Mara Jade. She truly is one of the best characters in all of the novels and nobody writes her better than her creator. I especially liked the way he tied all of the plots together. As I was nearing the end of the book I thought there was no way he could wrap everything up in the few chapters that were left. All I could say when I finished reading the book (it took me only 4 days) was WOW!
Rating: Summary: Zahn gives us a variety of characters, plots, and places. Review: Great book! Timothy Zahn ties up some loose ends, left from his previous books, but leaves some questions unanswered, so as to leave room for sequels.
Rating: Summary: Timothy Zahn writes yet another dazzling SW novel. Review: I enjoyed the entire Hand of Thrawn set of books. I heartily enjoyed how Mr. Zahn incorporated ideas and characters from other novels into it and gave those people more depth and made them more real. I am a major Imperial fan and I was glad that while the Empire had to sign a peace treaty at least it survived the war and may even become glorious again. I like how at the end it reveals what Tierce really was. A truly stunning conclusion to the entire Thrawn series (all 5 books).
Rating: Summary: Amazing, the best Star Wars book ever!!! Review: This was the best star wars book ever, and i have read all 40 of them. IT was Timothy Zahn at his best, there will never be anyone that can write a Star Wars book like he can. It was fantastic. The plot twist and turns keep you on the edge of your seat and the suspense is outstanding. I couldnt put the book down for two days. It's the fastest i have ever read a book and the most enjoyable book i have ever read.
Rating: Summary: All "Star Wars" fans read this!!! Review: I am a huge Star Wars fan, and I have read a lot of the books, but I absolutely LOVED this one! The mystery, the decpetion, the romance, and of course, the whole idea of Grand Admiral Thrawn returning from the dead. And the ending (with Luke and Mara) really SHOCKED me! Excellent book! I recommend any Star Wars fan to read this book!
