Summary: Utterly Spectacular
Review: The best Star Wars book ever created? Yes. The best book I've ever read? Quite possibly. Zahn captures the Star Wars universe in this addicting novel perfectly with plot twists galore! It's about time an author was brave enough to break out of the traditional Star Wars mold and bring on something new for the authors of future SW books to work on, besides the ever lasting battles. All I can say is this book is utterly spectacular.

Summary: A Must Read!!
Review: I ahve to say that this book was totally awesome, it had action, suspence and even a bit of romance as you will see...I have to admit the book started off a little slow but picked up and gained speed. I recommend that you get aquanted with the other Star Wars books- especally Specter of the Past before you pick of this book. I have to tell you this- the ending will blow you away ;)

Summary: HOORAY!!!!!
Review: Happy, happy, happy. All I can say is for those who would not give this book anything less than five stars is either joking, has no idea what they are talking about or has not read the book in the first place and is only writing here for fun. For those who have not read the book please do not read any of these reviews (I did and am regretting it to this day) some have revealed the final plot. A terrific read, and masterful weaving by Zahn by far the greatest star wars book ever. A welcome change from all the other star wars novels that could not depict the charaters as well as his books could. To argue a point with [a reader] who thinks that this was an unworthy ending to the series, I beg to differ. To end an age old war with a peace treaty is the exact ending I would expect from a trilogy that ends with a title like "Return of the Jedi" rather than 'Revenge of the Jedi' I thinks its the most appropriate ending. Though romance doesn't seem to be Zahns stronger points I loved the ending of this book. Since I loved Palleon and Admiral Thrawn from the earlier series it is wonderful to find that they are not your usual baddies who are pure evil. To find that Admiral Thrawn was actually working for a greater good was an even better twist. I also liked that twist on the jedi thing, I found it quite interesting and more fitting than the ones other authors seem to want to establish (not that I'm slagging the other books-I enjoyed them too).

All in all a marvellous novel giving the characters room to mature and portraying as they should always have been and giving a whole new area for exploration. I really was getting sick of the usual last ditch try by the empire and this novel definitely put an end to it. I don't think this ends the star wars series it just the start of a whole new one where the Empire and New republic will be working together to battle the many "somethings out there".

Summary: The best SW book I've read, and I've read 'em all.
Review: Undoubtably, this book was the best Star Wars book written. I think that Timothy Zahn has written the best of Star Wars. This book is a must-read.

Summary: Greatest Star Wars Book Ever
Review: I went everywhere for this book, but it was sold out (that itself being a testament to the greatness of Timothy Zahn), but I finally found it. The first night I stayed up until 2 a.m. in the morning because I was so engrossed in the story. I loved the whole Luke-Mara surprise ending thing. All I want to know if there is going to be one more book at the end to make it a trilogy even though it was only supposed to be a duology. I've been reading the Star Wars books since they first came out with Heir to the Empire and I can safetly say that this one is my favorite.

Summary: I take back what I said!
Review: When "Spectre of the Past" was released, I was disappointed to see that this was NOTHING like the Zahn SW books we'd become used to. There was a lack of imagination and enthusiasm on the author's part. I'm glad to see that this time, Zahn has returned with a flair and energy we haven't seen since "Heir to the Empire." (Well, maybe not "Heir," but at least "The Last Command.") There are some wonderful touches; this is definitely classic SF storytelling. Wonderful! Worth the price, indeed. Too bad it didn't last THREE books. This latest entry in the SW pantheon has helped me restore my faith in Zahn's vision of Star Wars and, overall, the author as a Force (gag) to be reckoned with in the ranks of great SF authors.

Summary: Timothy Zahn and his evil pen have done it again!
Review: You know, you should really read this book. Not if you're bored and want something to do, but really because it is a good read. I have confidence that you will be very surprised when you read the ending. No looking ahead! It can get a little choppy, but, really, read this book. This is honestly the most goofy review I have ever written, but it is the way I feel, and not just because I am on a 2am sugar high. G'head, read on, SW fanatics like mois!

Summary: Perfect Ending...Or a Perfect Beginning? Either Way PERFECT
Review: From the time I read the first page to the time I finished the book the following day I was hooked. Timothy Zahn has once again captivated the hearts and imaginations of Star Wars fans everywhere. This book ties up all the loose ends from SW books written by other authors, as well as those written by himself, and creates a new beginning for the universe we have grown to love. And Love is something Luke can finally feel toward someone, and more importantly have that same feeling returned. Each of the main characters was written with the style that was implied when they were first introduced on the big screen. I can't wait to see what Dell-Ray does to attempt to top this, which will be very difficult. The opportunity has been created for new authors as well as Zahn to exploit the "Unknown Dangers" lurking in the unknown regions of the galaxy. The future looks bright for the Star Wars universe.

Summary: Mediocre
Review: I've read three other Timothy Zahn Star Wars books, plus Kevin J. Anderson's addition to the series, and about two other Star Wars authors. VISION was the worst of all of them. I'm glad I only checked it out from the library, and didn't pay actual money for it. The characters were especially weak and superficial. Most notably, Luke Skywalker, who's supposed to be a Jedi, still acts like a new recruit, but without any of the cockiness that was originally his most appealing quality in the first movie. I was disappointed with the way Zahn tied up the relationship with Mara Jade. There wasn't much of a story line here either, absolutely nothing original. Worst of all, it was just a poor mishmash of better previous Star Wars plots, why not just throw in a Death Star while you're at it? I just can't wait for the new movie to come out, to see something new and original.

Summary: Slightly long and drawn out.
Review: First, I admit, I am a huge SW fan. I have read about 85% of all the hardback novels and most of the softbacks as well. But why 3 stars when everyone else is giving 5?

The story was 'good' and their were a few surprises along the way, especially a huge development for Luke Skywalker that fans may be excited about. However, some of the characters we like, took a second seat to the story or didn't show up at all. Chewie was not even present in this book, as were any of the Solo children. C-3PO had a minor role, Lobot hardly did a thing, and the potential of Rouge Squadron was very anti-climatic.

Well, actually, in my opinion the whole book was anti-climatic. At close to 500 pages, I will admit the last 60-70 pages started to get tense, and it was a page turner, but the ending wrapped up so fast! And it seemed to take forever to get to the last 70 pages.

If you like political intrigue, and multiple story threads, this book is pretty good. It was interesting to see how the Imperials were vying for power, and still cheating each other. Hats off to one Admiral Palleon (2nd man to Thrawn) and his resolution to stick things out.

There was a lot of emphasis on Luke and Mara, a whole story in itself that seemed to be 1/2 the novel anyway.

Interesting concept, but missed a bit more of the traditional SW drama, villiany, and epic battles.
