Rating: Summary: Zahn a great author but a little out of tune Review: Did anybody else find that way too technical? I had to force myself to read it. It would have been a greater storyline if Zahn had created the series in to 3 books instead of cramming it in to 2 books. As for the Luke and Mara thing - Does anybody get married that quickly? I mean my god they only have been on a few adventures and then they get married? This is insane! What about Callista? Well we will just have to read the next book to see what happens.
Rating: Summary: If this is a vision of the future, it is a bleak one.... Review: I'm sorry, but after having to put myself through 500++ pages of this tripe, I am amazed to find that the response has been so overwhelmingly positive. Is there so little else for people to speculate on that a second-grade romantic pairing from hell can make people chuck notions like 'plot', 'involvement' and 'quality' straight out the window? Judging from the reviews here, apparently so. Let's get this straight -- if it wasn't for the Luke and Mara subplot, this would be yet another substandard entry in the Star Wars universe. Zahn's affinity for unexplained technobabble and equally stupid terms -- what the hell does 'Vader-ripped katchna' really mean, anyone? -- are balanced by lousy villains, AWOL plots, and ideas so trite and stale that even Kevin J. Anderson seems like the fount of originality in comparision. This book, bluntly, smells like rotting poultry... but these words are obviously a waste of breath, because it will be continued to be bought in the millions regardless. Anyone with a shred of analytic ability and impartial judgement should think twice, though.
Rating: Summary: Zahn did it again... Review: Once again, Timothy Zahn proves himself to be the master. Vision of the Future proved to be the best read from his hand so far. It crams more storylines than one would think possible into one book. It keeps forcing you to turn the page, you just *have* to find out what happens next. Its characters are people you believe in, whom you identify with and grow attached to. Only one beef, though. I miss Thrawn. I'd have wanted him to return. In him, Zahn created the best, most complicated villain so far. He was a person to love, and care about. He was so much more than just evil. Kudos to mr Zahn!
Rating: Summary: It was "worth reading" Review: I enjoyed the latest storyline that Timothy Zahn had written, It includes a lot of interesting charaters from the Star Wars Universe, (ie Micheal Stackpoles characters from Rogue Squardron). And it ties up some loose ends from his original series Heir to the Empire. Now if you had read some of the reviews you know that Luke Skywalker proposes to Mara Jade near the final chapters of the book. Its is enjoyable to see that Luke is finally going to have the same happiness that his twin sister. Unfortunately I thought the same thing after reading "Children of the Jedi". It seems that there is something that always messes up Luke Skywalker love interest. If you have read all of the Star Wars Novels all of the potential love interest in Luke's life had fell in love with a Hapan Prince, died in a space battle, ran away because she lost her powers. Most of these happened in the sequels. I really hope that Luke does finally gets married and lives happily ever after, but until he says "I do " I'm gonna remain a skeptic. Another little thing that I found annoying about this book is that it reference several characters from the Comic book Dark Horse. Like the Reborn Emperor and Baron Fel. I did not know who these characters were and thought I missed several Star Wars novels. But overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend that it is "worth reading" I seriously hope that Zahn will continue to write more award winning Star Wars novels in the future, but I fear that all of the original Star Wars novels will be moving towards the eagerly awaiting Episode 1 that is coming out in May.
Rating: Summary: Glory to the Empire!!! Review: This book had it's ups and downs, it's ups being excitment and it's downs being 1.As Pellaeon says:Imperials never give up, at least not until (as Tierce says) until we've taken Coruscant.2.How could a member of the Imperial Guard (Tierce) possibly be defeated be defeated by a piece of alien scum.3.The part where Luke and Mara go to the Unknown regions. Come on, no way is the little group of main characters going to get separated.4. Too much excess characters, etc.5.I would have liked to read about the marriage ceremony. Oh well...Glory to the Empire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: YOU GUYS ARE BRAINWASHED,but please listen to my opinion. Review: If I could I'd give it less than one. The only reason anyone thinks this book is good is because Mara and luke get married. Okay, I can see you nerds doing this, but this is a little too far! Zahn is a lazy-bones and instead of writing three or four books in good detail, he writes it in two non-detailed books. Zahn obviously takes a lot of his story from I, Jedi by Michael A. Stackpole, that freak! Also I hated the ending. Luke and Mara training one trainee at a time and living past the Outer Rim Territories. We all know (Luke is my favorite character)Luke should become the President of the Republic and not some weirdo in some far away place. There's too much Imperials too. There should be no peace treaty between the Empire and the Republic. Also, they should describe the marriage. THERE SHOULD BE MORE BOOKS IN BANTAM SPECTRA;THIS CAN'T BE THE END!!! I LOVE STAR WARS BOOKS! PLEASE DON'T LET END. I'LL BE :(
Rating: Summary: Don't listen to people who gave this book less than 5 stars! Review: Zahn comes through with yet another perfect novel. This book is excellent in all ways, it has a great mix of character, plot and best of all Luke finally gets married. Also read all of the Star Wars books, all of Timothy Zahn's books, and all of Michael A. Stackpole's books.
Rating: Summary: Zahn has done it again! Review: Vision of th Future, just like all of Zahn's other books, was excellent, though I sorta don't like how he makes it look like the Empire was on the "edge of collapsing." The Imperials had 12,000 Star Destroyers in RoTJ, and none of the books have a part where they destroys more than four Star Destroyers in the books, but thats beside the point...I really enjoyed the cloaked Star Destroyers over Bothawui, but would've liked to see some Imperials getting revenge on the Bothans...Even though the DFR Sourcebook said Pellaeon was 70+,which would make him 80+, he was great. All in all, magnificent
Rating: Summary: What in the world does Tymothy Zahn think he accomplished? Review: This book is really the worst book I have ever read. What about Callista? Do you really think Luke will marry Mara Jade after loving Callista so deeply? He also risked his life in her search once she left Jedi accademy. As long as I was reading this book, the words in my mind were, 'what in the world does Tymothy Zahn think he accomplished?' I could have ripped the book off if Han and Leia didn't stop me. This book is a hell!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: What in the world does Zahn think he has written?!? Review: This is ABSURD. LUKE GETTING MARRIED WITH MARA JADE?!? WHAT ABOUT ME? WHAT ABOUT CALLISTA? Do you really think HE IS GOING TO MARRY ANYONE AFTER HE LOVED CALLISTA SO DEEPLY? I Can never immagine LUKE MARRYING SOMEONE OTHER THAN CALLISTA. As long as I was reading this book, the words in my mind were 'WHAT IN THE WORLD DOES TIMOTHY ZAHN THINK HE ACCOMPLISHED'. All his other books were really outstanding. BUT THIS BOOK MADE ME REALLY MAD AT HIM. IF I HAVE TO TELL, I COULD HAVE RIPPED OFF THE BOOK IF HAN AND LEIA DIDN'T STOP ME. THIS BOOK IS A REAL HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
