Summary: The redeemer of the Star Wars books
Review: This book was truly amazing. It was beautifully written and portrayed the Empire as more than the one sided villain it has so easily become in the other books. It also shows Luke as less than perfect - something that pleased me no end, because I have always felt uncomfortable with his 'I can do no wrong, and falling to the dark side will never affect me again' status.

I also thought that the Mara/Luke relationship was dealt with well - it was a great plot twist at the end, but Zahn had so carefully laid the background that it was utterly believable. I also liked the suddeness of it, it made a difference from the slow saga of the Callista books (Children of the Jedi, Darksaber, Planet of Twilight).

I also feel compelled to point out what a stunning character Mara Jade is. She beats Callista any day (who although I enjoyed her, was obviously created specifically to be Luke's girl...if you ask me the fact that Mara wasn't only that plotline better!)

It's an amazing book. Read it. Zahn has managed to redeem my faith that truly amazing SW books can be written. Ones which deal with the flaws in the good guys and the redeeming features of the bad ones...books that go beyond a new superweapon appearing in every new Trilogy, and the ageing super heroes going off to save the day. This book rocks!

Summary: Finally!
Review: For a weeek I stayed up every night to read this book! I could never put it down. The Luke/Mara adventure had me in awe. And it was about time the two got together! I thought it would never happen! I STILL even reread the Luke and Mara Jade parts. Ive got them practically memorized. My favorite part was at the end when Mara told Luke that there was still time to back out of the marriage and he kissed her and said not a chance. Now we have to wait until October (and why may I ask October? that is way to far away!!!) until Vector Prime comes out to finish the story. They are keeping the new book pretty secret about what is going to happen. If anybody knows any information sites or documents about the New Jedi Order please post it on this site! Please! There are so many questions I have and so little info. to answer it.

Summary: The best Star Wars book I have ever read
Review: Timothy Zahn has done it again. If you thought his Empire trilogy was good, this is brilliant. He ties up all the previous fraying edges from the other books in this wonder-book. For all those 1 star reviewers, go read another book. The Luke/Mara relationship was done extremely well. I recommend that you buy this book if you like Star Wars. I don't think you'll regret it.

Summary: A merchandizing letdown
Review: Bantam's last-ditch attempt to reddem an already inconsistent and poorly constructed amalgamation of novels has, instead of encouraging original fans to return, left many disgruntled. One can only hope that George Lucas himself gives these Bantam stories as much credence as he did 'Splinter of the Mind's Eye' in 1978. Though Zahn's style is more than acceptable, the story itself is more of a replica of the 'Heir to the Empire' trilogy. However, instead of recapturing 'Heir's' magical reunion with characters forgotten since 1983, 'Specter' and its panned-out sequel 'Vision of the Future' oozes over-encouragement from publishers keen to sell quantity rather than quality. This plot is not only predictable, but well spent. It came as no surprise that both 'Specter' and 'Visions' did not so much as reach the British or European bestseller lists. Perhaps if Zahn would have been given more time to plan an adequate storyline, Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade's sudden relationship would not have seemed unrealistic to a generation of original 'Star Wars' fans old enough to have families of their own. Parents be encouraged - this is a book for children.

Summary: THIS IS THE BEST NOVEL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: THIS BOOK WAS THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!! This gets the unstable New Republic right! Finally, the fleets come to Bothawui. It carfully develops the Luke/Mara relationship without any really sickining mushy stuff that a lot of other books have. For all you Callista people, face it,she totally stunk!Even Gaeriel was better! And the two-sided empire thing was realistic.Timothy Zahn is the BEST! Almost none of the book was boring. All Star Wars fans need to read this! I hope there will be other books in this series!!!!!

Summary: This was the conclusion to the best Star Wars Series
Review: I thought that this book had a lot of excitement and is to be recommended to every Sci-fi Fan and Star Wars fan out there. there was no time in this story in which it was not interesting. Zahn did an excellent job in plot and suspense I remember waiting in suspense for this book to be released after i had finished Specter of the Past. this book is a classic with everchanging relationships and excellent plots. I think Zahn should follow up on some of the relationships and plots because there is few other authors that can give a punch to a story like Zahn. Overall It was the Best Star Wars Series ever.

Summary: ZAHN is GOD
Review: Once again, Zahn has taken these beloved Star Wars characters beaten severely by other ruthless less-than-tactful writers (Not mentioning any names, Kevin J. Anderson) and breathed life back into them, letting them actually act in character. You can tell that in all of his SW books, he has done meticulous research in effort to get details right. Zahn's books are a must for a SW fan.

Summary: I couldn't put it down.
Review: If anybody chooses to read this book and is reading my comments, please read the other Timothy Zahn novels first (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, the Last Command, and Specter of the Past) in the order written. Otherwise you will be very confused.

This book is great. First of all, Zahn writes with great pace and action, preventing you from stopping reading. The weaving of characters and the relationships developed along with the conspiracies that come along with it are incredible. This is a definite must read for star wars fans.

Summary: Excellent in every way
Review: Timothy Zahn is, in my opinion, by far the most absorbing and thrilling author that has braved the task of authoring the Star Wars books. Vision of the Future is simply the latest example of the man's flawless writing technique and character developement. I was infinitely pleased with the way Luke Skywalker is portrayed. Not an indecisive whiner nor an omniscient masterful genius, Zahn's Luke perfectly walks the fine line between natural human nervousness and a sea of deeply felt protectiveness and caring for those around him. I can honestly see this Luke evolving from the one we left at the end of Return of the Jedi. Zahn also skillfully uses dialogue between Mara Jade and Luke to explain some of Luke's questionable actions in the past and his feelings about them. Speaking of Mara Jade, what an ending! It really threw me - considering what we knew about Luke and his conservativeness about relationships, I never even saw it coming. A wonderful plot twist to end a glorious book. I read the last page feeling deeply satisfied with all aspects of the novel. My only hope now is that Timothy Zahn will continue to turn out more of these realistic, thought-provoking Star Wars books in the near future.
