Summary: One Word: WOW!!
Review: Oh my gosh! This is by far the best Star Wars book ever written! I love Star Wars books written by Timothy Zahn! The duology is great! It's the best book I've ever read. (Well, the other Zahn Trilogy was just as fantastic!) The Luke and Mara relationship is fantastic! I cannot think of one thing bad about this book! Everything was perfect! I'm sure you all can agree with me.

Summary: Excellent Book
Review: This was a great book, I would get it. But one thing bothers me. Luke has to fullfil his Jedi right of passage, so he goes to confront his father and turn him from the dark side or die trying. He loses his father, gets lit up like a light bulb, and comes out of it one father less, one hand less, and half his youth less. Mara crashes her precious ship and nearly commits suicide becuase of it. When I read she was going of to make a noble selfless sacrifice that was not what I had in mind. And sshe can criticize Luke?

Summary: SITHSPIT! should be 7 of 5!!!
Review: Wow. This book was awesome. There are no words to describe my relief that SOMEONE finally got Star Wars down to a T. The characters are realistic, the plot is good, and the character-character interaction (esp. pg. 481-482 hardcover edition) is the BEST. Highly recommended to anyone who likes/will like the comic Union or Vector Prime!

Summary: What an amazing book !!
Review: Look at it this way : right now that I am writing these comments, 222 other people have made their evaluation of VOTF, and the average rating is 4 1/2 stars! If this does not suggest to you that we are talking about one excellent book, then nothing can!

Indeed, Mr. Zahn has done it again, and even better than ever before ! Vision of the Future is great reading, and captures the real spirit of Star Wars perfectly. I remember that, even as I read his first SW trilogy, I thought "this could well be the story of the next three films!" And now, in this book, he has outdone himself. It has actually been years that I have not stayed awake at nights to read a book. Even the first book of the series, Spectre of the Past, didn't do it for me, I thought at the time it was rather slow and somewhat repetitive of older themes (I say at the time, because now I know that SOTP was just setting the stage for VOTF). VOTF, I couldn't put it down, I read it in taxis, waiting in line at the bank, inside my car at stoplights, I even took it at work one day (when I was in the last pages) and sneaked out to read it! I really have to thank Mr. Zahn for giving me the opportunity to feel again the magic, not only of SW, but of an exciting book that sweeps you away!

The book is great because it ties together most previous storylines (I wonder, Mr Zahn, did you really read them all, to avoid inconsistencies?). I had been waiting for Luke & Mara to come together ever since the Thrawn trilogy. Actually, I had been waiting for Luke to find a decent girl ever since the original SW movies, and Mara seemed to me just perfect ! I missed Chewie in this book however, and there is one thing that let's say "disappointed" me, and that was the fate of the Thrawn clone. Why couldn't you let him live this time Mr. Zahn? If the clone grew up, we could perhaps in future books enjoy his genius, as we did in the Thrawn trilogy. After all, who can honestly claim that after Thrawn there has been one complete and really masterful personality to pose as a threat to the New Republic? No, noone was as good as Thrawn, which explains why it takes three people (Tierse, Flim & Disra) to impersonate one dead Grand Admiral. For this, and only for this, I would give the book 4 1/2 stars instead of the perfect 5, if Amazon gave me such a choice !

Anyway, I could go on for pages like this. The bottom line is, noone who is a genuine Star Wars fan can afford to miss this book. I personally saw the first SW movie when I was only 8, and I have never forgotten the magic, even now, 21 years later. This book brought it back to me. It will do the same to you.

PS. There is one thing I have managed to miss : in which book or comic does Luke go over to the Dark Side, accompagnied by the resurrected emperor? Can anyone please inform me, so that I can purchase it and complete my readings on the topic?

Summary: zahn is good but...
Review: i must say that i was really waiting for this "Hand of Thrawn" series, what with the best ever Star Wars novels that he wrote earlier. and so i waited and it came and i read it. hmmm couldnt really understand how and why zahn must tie up every loose string in the star wars saga. i mean, i know that this is the last installment for the novels but that does not mean that he had to include every character from here to the Unknown Regions !? for those unlucky enough to miss the earlier trilogy by zahn and lucky enough to miss the astronomically boring and monotonous other novels by whom i shall not name, you will be holding up the book with one hand while the other scratching your head as you wonder that it is indeed a large galaxy far, far away. i was happy for luke and mara. but while zahn is a genius at the field that he is holding, the same cant be said for romance. this is best left to others such as danielle steele et al. that part about luke needing to hold mara just so she could understand the irritating lifeforms left me gagging and puking. i mean, couldnt she get a bleeding translator? but the novel does have its strengths. the political saga was quite good as you see that indeed this was how the emperor manipulates such a wide variety of alien presence in the senate. for those wishing to buy the novel, better get the paperback.

Summary: Poor Mara...
Review: I've gotta say this: I personally think Luke is a little creepy, starting with THE RETURN OF THE JEDI. Still, I like him. Everyone but Zahn has made him out to be so cold and emotionless, so I'm glad he's finding happiness. Let's take a second to think about the words "Luke" and "happiness"--his first love turned out to be his twin sister. Gariel, #2, never made a move. They didn't see one another for 14 years and then she died a pointless death. Whatshername from Dathomir ran off with Isolder as soon as she saw him. Callista...oooh, don't get me started on Callista (whiny, gutless little wretch). Given the kind of luck Luke always has with women, it will probably be about three more books before Mara dies. Sigh...

Summary: Woooo! Zahn does it again!!!
Review: What can I say? This is the best Star Wars book ever! An intriguing plot filled with all the twists and turns of his orginal trilogy but better, and the same wonderful characters- Talon Karrde, Corran Horn, Booster Terrik, and of course Mara Jade, just to start. Zahn has a real talent for characterization, and his writing style leaves you on the edge of your seat because you just have to know what will happen next! The multiple plot lines give it depth, and I liked the backstories involving Caamas, Emberlene, Yoda's battle with the Dark Jedi, and the Hand of Thrawn. I thought that Mara Jade was very well characterized, and the scenes with her and Luke were extremely well written. Heck, so was everything else! I'd go on with every single thing I loved, but that would take ten pages- suffice to say that you'd have to be crazy to pass up this book.

Summary: A great novel for any Sci-Fi book lover.
Review: Timothy Zhan is the master of Star Wars novels. How could he possible outdo his last trilogy? I don't know how he does it, but he sure blew away the others with this book! Spectre of the Past didnt' seem as good as it could, but now I see that it was just setting up the amazing conclusion. Truly a great book, but read Spectre of the Past first if you already haven't.

Summary: This is a Great book!
Review: Wow!!! I really liked Vision of the Future. Timothy Zahn is one of the best writers of Star Wars. Though it took him to long to write, this book is worth the wait!

Happy Reading!

Summary: Loved the book, but will there be a third?
Review: I loved this book. Timothy Zahn created another masterpiece. He is truly a magnificent writer. He needs to write more Star Wars books. The characters were so well defined. Talon Karrde and Mara Jade were a great addition into the book. I just have one question; will there be a third?? I don't want the story to end.
