Summary: Part of the series, I will purchase this book for my collect
Review: I loved the first book in this series "March Upcountry". I waited a long time for this sequel to come out and have read the third book in the series "March to the Stars".

Of the 3, I found this middle book to be very unoriginal (it seams to repeat the first book over and over); no one seems to grow or change; new elements do not add overwhelmingly to the book.

To say I was disapointed was saying it nicely, however the first and third book was excellent and worth collecting the series!!!!!!! So I will re-read this one and see if maybe I was just "off" when I read it the first time.

If you are reading the book alone, you might enjoy it. But if you are just getting in the series and skip the first book, you probably won't go farther. I suggest you start with the first and don't stop at this one but go on to the "March to the Stars"

Summary: Buy this book
Review: I originally purchased March Upcountry because it was a book by David Weber, and I have so far bought all of his books, and enjoyed them immensely. I am glad to say that March Upcountry was no exception, and i was very pleasantly surprised with John Ringo's style of writing (who I hadnt come across before), the book gripped me from start to finish, and when i saw that a sequel had come out I couldnt wait even the few days it would have taken to ship, so I bought it in eBook format from Baen. I am now awaiting payday so I can order it in a slightly more portable format :-) For all of you out there who _can_ hold in their excitement order this book today, I can guarantee that you wont be dissapointed.

Summary: Could have stopped with the first book
Review: I really liked March Upcountry, so when I saw this one, I snapped it up. Big mistake. I didn't even finish it--there's no character development, no real moving forward of the plot. Now that Roger is grown up, I guess there's nothing more to write about.

Summary: More! I want more!
Review: In March Upcountry, Prince Roger grew from a spoiled clothes horse into a respected individual. Now in March to the Sea, we see his further evolution into a commrade in arms and a military leader. Instead of protecting Roger, the Bronze Barbarians are now depending on his fighting ability. As Captain Pahner said "The Empress is going to kill me." Ringo and Weber have somehow managed to shoehorn some humor and romance into this headlong fight across a hostile planet. Highly recommended. I can't wait for the next book.

Summary: Fun in the Sun
Review: It is certainly fun to read one of the David Weber/John Ringo collaberation books. Once I get them, which is as soon as they are published, I can't put them down until I've read them from cover to cover. March to the Sea is no exception. The Prince actually turns out to be a useful individual!

Summary: An Interesting Twist on an Old Tale
Review: Let's be up front about this, I'm a David Weber cheerleader. I can say much the same about John Ringo. When the two combine, the seasoned veteran and the new gun in town, watch out!

MARCH TO THE SEA is book two in the ongoing series of one Prince Roger, Heir Tertiary to the throne of the Empire of Man. He begins the first book; MARCH UPCOUNTRY, as a spoiled brat who has great potential. By the end of MARCH TO THE SEA he has matured in every way to become the classical hero of Epic proportions.

I won't ruin the plot for you; it is a retelling of an ancient tale, with a few twists of its own. History buffs will see it right away; especially with hints other reviewers will surely give. I will say that buying the first book in the series, MARCH UPCOUNTRY, simply because I needed a Weber fix, opened my eyes to a rising star in the Science Fiction World, one John Ringo. For that alone, the price was worth it; never mind the great story inside the cover.

If you are (im)patiently waiting the next Honor Harrington book by Weber, might I humbly suggest two things:

1) Don't hold your breath, he has other projects and it probably won't be out till early next year if we are lucky.

2) Buy the two books in this series to tide you over until then. You won't be disappointed.

In case I wasn't clear enough:

BUY THIS BOOK!! BUY IT NOW!! BUY _MARCH UPCOUNTRY_ TOO!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: John Ringo is the best new SF author
Review: March to the Sea and before that March Upcountry are excellent books. Weber and Ringo work well together in these books. Both of these authors are on my buy on sight list.
