Summary: Average Rating: Higher Than it Deserves
Review: I honestly can't understand how this book got such a high rating. That's not to say it's a bad book, It's not. Maybe it even deserves 3 stars. I'll admit the story was fast paced and somewhat enjoyable. But overall the plot was predictable and too simple. I can barely remember any of the characters (besides the main one) since there wasn't anything special about them, they were just there. Perhaps the people who enjoyed this book so much like a simple story, I prefer something a little more complex, something that will make me think...

Summary: it's pretty good
Review: A fair effort from a new writer. First, I'll tell you what I didn't enjoy - a plot/world that wasn't all that fresh and an ending that spiraled out of control. I thought the world and plot were stock fantasy and not all that original. The ending became suddenly metaphysical when most of the book stayed firmly in the realm of reality.

I enjoyed the equality of men and women portrayed in this book, as well as the 'can-do' attitude exhibited by the heroine. The book is also a safe read for pre-teens with no inappropriate sexual asides.

I also appreciated that the book began and ended within a single volume. Most fantasy writers would try to stretch this epic across a number of books.

Summary: Spectacular!
Review: A friend pressed this book on me...

Ms. Britain's first book hooked me from the start. I followed Karigan's adventures eagerly, each turn of the page bringing new action to hold my breath. I read the book in one day (putting off lunch for 4 hours), not wanting to miss a heartbeat.

When I put the book down, I instantly knew that I would follow Ms. Britain's writing career as one of her biggest fans.

Karigan G'ladheon is a character not typically found in fantasy: Ms. Britain herself describes her as "an everywoman". Kari is an everywoman--until F'ryan Coblebay, a Green Rider for the king...P>This is an excellent first book, and I heartily recommend it. The only bad thing about this novel is the end: several of the story's threads are tied up in (from the viewpoint of a fan) most unsatisfying knots, leaving us readers with a semi-cliffhanger. Aah, we want MORE, Ms. Britain! And fortunately, there's going to be more: Green Rider's sequel is tentatively scheduled for August 2003, with two more books on the way. Well, I'm buying THOSE in hardcover!

Summary: Intriging
Review: This was altogether a very good book. The characters were well drawn and the plot was solid. Its the sort of book that makes you want to run out and take fencing lessons and what not. Ms. Britain does a very good job at bringing Karigan to life so you almost feel as if you are Karigan. I feel like I've been to the Green Cloak, Sacor City and Selium. The ending though I thought was odd. Almost nonconformist, and while I can understand that, I WANT MORE!!! I enjoyed this book very much and I want a sequel to tie up the loose ends because I am rapidly going insane. Not to say it incomplete, it's just I now feel like I know these characters and something is left to be desired. So I will now try to keep my sanity while waiting for another book.

Summary: A wonderful first book
Review: One of my favorite books! Karigan goes through many trials to save king and country. It looks like she can find love but then the book ends. Where's the next book?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The most satisfying book one can ever read.
Review: To quote a previous reviwers statement that heroine of this book was a "Mary Sue", the female character who is instantly loved by all characters in the book and excells in whatever they do. Where is the mary sue of this story? I certainly didnt' see one. Britain has managed to write a throughly satisfying book that has a quickened yet easy to follow pace. With a character this more realistic than I've seen in a fantasy story in a very, very long time.

The book begins with action and finishes with satisfaction, I confess I found myself being absorbed within the story and world of this novel. It is rare one can walk away from a book completely satisfyied with whatever they had just read and still filled with enough excitement to want to return back to the novel and read it a 2nd and 3rd time? Not many authors can boast that of their readers.

Britain weaves a truely wonderful story that captures the readers imagination and keeps them guessing and longing to ride again with Karigan in the sequel. I truely reccomend this book to anyone who wants to read a throughly satisfying and wonderful book.

I say this phrase rarely and with much sincerity THIS IS A DARN GOOD BOOK. I reccomend it to anyone. And I look forward to her next novel.

Summary: Great first novel
Review: Kristen Britain shows a lot of promise in her first book. Her characters are interesting and fun to know, and her descriptions are crisp and vibrant. Her storyline is a little stilted, but that will change with time. I'm definitly waiting for more books by her.

Summary: A wonderful story worth reading...
Review: I've never been good at giving summaries of things, so this isn't going to be that type of review. I just bought this book two days ago and I've already finished it. I could not put it down, not even at 2 in the morning. I loved this book. It had a great main character that I could relate to. She was normal, except for the whole brooch and being called thing. The only thing I would have changed in this book was to add a bit more romance, not much, just a bit. (guess I'm one of those romance freaks) But it was by far one of the best novels I have read in a while. It had a good plot that kept you reading and lovable and rememberable characters. So go out and buy it now!

Summary: This book has it all!
Review: This book is similar to 'king of thrones' series by George RR Martin(one of my other favorites). It has an intriguing plot, courageous, but reluctant heroine & a plot that includes danger, betrayl, olde magic, kings, knights, gaurds, mysterious creatures & romantic hints. I rarely put it down & look forward to the next book in this fantastic series.
Enjoy!
