Rating: Summary: it was ok... Review: This book wasn't half bad, but it wasn't half good either. I read this book a while back and only now am I coming back to write a review on it! By 3 stars I mean it was ok. I would give it 3 and a half stars but well... My problems with the book were the following: It was confusing at points. You were left thinking, "What makes her so special as opposed to other people? Just what is up with that horse? What was that supposed to mean?" and etc. Also, the book didn't go into depth about personalities. None of the characters had personality quirks or such; they simply were one dimensional characters with a one or two dimensional plotline to follow. It was also very difficult to find yourself caring too much about the main character when she is so ignorant at times and so one dimensional. I did, however enjoy the book for the following reasons: While the plotline was perhaps a little one dimensional, it was interesting. There were many adventures throughout the book that were fun and exciting to read. The idea about the intelligent horses was an interesting one. Overall, it was an ok book. It was good fantasy and overall, a worthwhile read if you are looking for something rather light to read while waiting for another book to come out. To anyone who read this book and liked the idea about the horse being intelligent, I suggest you check out Mercedes Lackey's "Heralds of Valdemar" series.
Rating: Summary: Watch out for endings! Review: this book is extremely well written. The plot is exellent. I really enjoyed it. I could barely put it down! I rated this book only 4 stars b/c the ending was a bit ify.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful Fantasy. Review: This book was not what I expected. I expected another fantasy with the exact same plot that they always have. This one kept me one my toes and I read the whole book in 24 hours. You think you know what will happen and you form the plot in your mind and it twists. It is an excellent book and I very much hope there is another one.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazeing! Review: I just finished reading GREEN RIDER for the sixth time! It's one of those books that you can't put down the first time and are compelled to read over and over again. The heroine, Karigan is, as said by many charactors in the book, full of pure spunk, resourceful, and imaginative with the right touches of mortality and a relatively down to earth personlality that never gives up! It is a story full of intregue that keeps you guessing. It has a multi-layered plot that just keeps unfolding as you turn the page. The villans are very believable and very dispiseable, unlike some wacked out over done villains found in other books. The ending, which I have more sense than to reveal makes you want to hear the sequils (of which there are none yet but I compassionately urge Kristen Britain to write! )
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I loved this book! While there are some predictable moments, it is still fast paced and exciting. I can't wait to read Kristen Britain's next book!
Rating: Summary: A truly fabulous book! Review: If you liked the Lord of the Rings, you will love this book. Kristen Britain's book follows the story of a young girl, Kerigan, who has just been suspended from school due to a fight. As she is tromping through the woods towards her home, a wounded rider intercepts her and begs her to deliver a very important message to the king. She takes on this mission, and has a truly extraordinary adventure. I couldn't put this book down, and am very excited to read her next book. It's a must-read!
Rating: Summary: Love it! Review: I love this book! undoubtably, it'll be a re-read classic for me(I re-read most all of my favorites because of a limited budget of 10 bucks a week allowance.) Speaking from the point of view of a teen, Karigan acts bit dumb, but typical of a confused teen faced with a big job ahead of her. She seems to not comprehend the magnitude of the task ahead of her, to not comprehend the life-or-death danger she is in, even after meeting the bad guys. She only seems to understand her danger when captured by two of the Bad Guy's henchmen. Again I say, Karigan's reactions are typical of a teen, her character is believable. The author does not try to make her out into a beefed-up super-woman swords-mistress, either. This is a good thing. The only flaw I found with the story is whether or not Karigan becomes a Green Rider. You know she can't go back to being a normal trader's daughter- her memories of the Wild Ride will haunt her- yet she seems adamant about returning home with her father. You can only hope there is a sequel in store for us.
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I found GREEN RIDER to be a very good, if somewhat cliched, book. The author seems to be trying to follow in the Tolkien tradition (did anyone else link up the Eletians with Tolkien's Elves?) but her Green Riders were new (to me) and I liked her Weapons. Karigan was, above all, a great character; her charisma and 'reluctant messenger' attitude really carried the book. I really liked the lack of explicit sex scenes; a lot of other fantasy writers seem to think that you can't write a good novel without having 'it' occur in every chapter, but Ms. Britain has proved the opposite, and I highly commend her for her great writing style (aside from the few plot cliches I mentioned), exciting characters, and compelling story.
Rating: Summary: On her way Review: What to say about this book. It was good. Not great, but good. The land the author creates is believable in terms of most fantasy worlds, but that is also a fallback for it; it sometimes takes too much from the common perception of fantasy and as a consequence is a little stale. But regardless of that fact, the author was still able to capture my interest enough so that I finished the book in a night. Read this book; it won't be an international bestseller, but it is clever enough to keep a readers interest until the end.
Rating: Summary: Green Rider by Kristen Britain Review: An excellent fantasy adventure! I enjoyed it so much that I am buying it in hardback. I hope Ms. Britain continues to write more about her "reluctant" Green Rider heroine, Karigan G'ladheon. Her spunk and gnack of rushing right into adventures & trouble, was amusing as well as entertaining. Hopefully the start of a new fantasy series!
