Rating: Summary: Very fast paced and intricate. Review: It kept me reading, I never knew what to expect. It had a very deap and thorough background.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous Review: This entire series is one of the best I have ever read. I waited painfully for each new book. I have never been disappointed with Weis and Hickman. If you have not read any of their books, you could do no better than to start here.
Rating: Summary: Good start to a great series! Review: Dragon Wing is the first volume of the Death Gate Cycle, and though it is not the best in the series, is a book well worth reading. The series as a whole is better than the beginning indicates. The characters introduced in the first book, Haplo, Alfred, Bane, Xar, Hugh, and others, are the first group of a great cast of thousands in this series. As usual, the characterization and style of Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman is just stellar. I give this one and the second one four stars, but all the rest deserve five (if only there were more to give). This series, while being a fun read, at the same time manages to be thought-provoking and has enough depth and entertainment value to satisfy any reader. The series remains unpredictable, and the pace remains fast throughout all seven books. A major achievement for these two masters of the genre.
Rating: Summary: A good beginning for a series... Review: Although not one of the best books I've read, it still peaked my interest enough to read the next installment in the series. It had a strong background and plot that hopefully will lead to a more riveting tale about this world and the conflict of Sartan vs. Patryn.
Rating: Summary: The Death Gate Cycle gets only a 10? Come on!! give it 100! Review: A riveting, edge of your seat thriller. The current rating system doesn't do it justice! (aand this coming from a middle school student!) I highly reccommend those two magnificate authors and their stories to anyone that loves fantasy.
Rating: Summary: Once you start you won't be able to stop reading it... Review: A great novel with excellent characters. As the book skips around from one character to another it always leaves you wanting to know what happens next. Well worth your money.
Rating: Summary: Worth reading when you have nothing to do Review: Dragon wing was by far not the best book I've read but the six following were wonderful!
Rating: Summary: Great series! Review: The second best fantasy-series I've ever read. Dragonwing starts off the series powerfully.
Rating: Summary: A Story For All Fantasy Lovers Review: Dragon Wing is an excellent story for any fantasy lover to read. Being young, I can say that it is easy reading and a great story. Although Dragon Wing can never compare to Tolkien's works, it comes in a close second on my list. The style in which the story is written reminds me slightly of Victor Hugo. The characters never are quite what they seem at first, and there is a mystery to everyone. At first, the story starts out slow, but when Limbeck starts challenging the beliefs of his people and when Haplo(my absolute favorite character) arrives, the storyline picks up. Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman have definately claimed their spot among the best with this series opener.
Rating: Summary: One of the best book series of all time!! Review: I read this book from November 1990-April 1991. And was severely impressed of the depth and scope of this book. It was a hard read, but when I got to Elven Star, I knew this wasn't your average series. I now have 6 books in the original hardcover, and this one in SFBC hard cover. It's one I despratly would love to find in hard cover. This book has no comparison in the imaginative world that it is presented within. It is highly recommended.!! So much so my email address is inspired by the series. I told a friend about this book, and from the way I said and told her about it, she said she can't believe she had never heard of it. She now has 6 of the 7 books now. :)And she loves it!!
