Rating: Summary: GREAT SERIES! Review: This book is just the start of the best series of books I have ever read and I have read more than most people would think was possible. This book starts out the series really slow. That's the reason for only four stars. Every other book in the series are easily five stars. The charters that start out here run through the other great six books. To actually review this book and get a good feel for it and the series you MUST read Elven Star. After that you wont be able to put these books down. Weis and Hickman are awesome!
Rating: Summary: Dragon Wing: A great start to a wonderful series Review: I found Dragon Wing in my school library about 7 months ago and thought it looked interesting. I had currently been in a reading "slump" and after that book, I had to know more about the descriptive and well-thought out characters. I am currently on the third book in the series, as I had a very long time between the second and third because of busy schedule, but I am thoroughly enjoying the third. Dragon Wing, was, as the subject says, an excellent start to a wonderful series!
Rating: Summary: Awesome series! Review: I thought that this book was the best book of a really good series. The characters were interesting and well developed, in my opinion. I also liked how the majority of the main characters in this book were evil, in some way or another, which isn't common in most of the books I've read (such as those by R. A. Salvatore). If you like Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman's writting style, you'll probably love this book. The only thing that I didn't like about the series was Zifnab... If it wasn't for Tracy Hickman's personification, I think that the series would have been much better, though not as funny.
Rating: Summary: The best there is. Review: This book is a wonderful intro to the world of the Death Gate Cycle. The book, in my opinion, moved just fast enough to keep one interested and yet still develop those crucial characters. I used to think that the Wheel of Time was the best series out there. Then I thought Lord of the Rings was the best. Now, I believe that Death Gate is better than either of these. I have also read numerous other fantasy serieses (this a word? heh) and this one tops them all. David Eddings, eat your heart out. Everyone should read this entire seiries, not only because it is a grand work of art, but because it shows us insight into the essence of humanity. Read it! Feel free to spam me with bashings.
Rating: Summary: A Dark and Mysterious Beginning to the Death Gate Cycle. Review: I was very satisfied with reading this book. Like all of the "introductions" into a series, this book couldn't just leap into action straight from the beeginning. It was written in a great way, although I still think that the character development of the Gegs was really dull. My favorite character was Hugh the Hand, and I'm kind of sorry what happens at the end. I loved the way that all throughout the story the Kir Monks guided his mind. Excelent Starter for the Death Gate series, might be a bit slow-paced, but keep up with it, and it will unravel a great twisting plot at the books beyond!
Rating: Summary: An Excelant story and begining to the series. Review: I think that this book is an excelent begining to the series. It does a good job at introducing the charictors and gives the reader a feel for the books. So many questions are left unanswered at the end you just HAVE TO read the rest of the series. While I was reading it I only put it down when I absolutly had to. IT was exciting, touching, spellbinding, and constantly leaves tie reader hanging and longing for more. All in all, I would say it was an excelent and must read book.
Rating: Summary: A definetly notable opening to the superb Death Gate Cycle Review: Dragon Wing breaks with traditional Tolkin influenced works in more ways then one. Weis and Hickman's superb characterization goes far beyond convention, and unlike most other Fantasy authors' black/white version of good and evil, Weis and Hickman create a universe in always changing shades of grey. Dragon Wing begins the Death Gate Cycle in Arianus, the world of air where war always threatens the mench (elves, humans, dwarves). This makes Arianus the perfect world for the patrons (a major Weis and Hickman addition) to conquer. This book is full of unbelievable twists that you will never expect. Read Dragon Wing and the rest of the Death Gate Cycle to follow the adventers of Haplo, Alfred, Hugh, Bane, the culturaly diverse mench of all four worlds, the arrogantly powerful patrons, and their sworn enemies and eternal duplicates(though neither will admit it) the Sartan.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: Breathtaking! Exciting! It had an ever-moving plot that was comletely different at the end than at the beginning. Weis and Hickman did a wonderful job with this one! I love the way Alfred was developed. One minute he's a harmless old man, the next he's...I'm not gonna spoil it for you. READ THIS BOOK! It is well worth your time!
Rating: Summary: Slow beginning, worth every moment. Review: This book starts out a little slow, and may not hold your attention, but I suggest sticking with it and continuing on with the rest of the series... It is truly an excellent series and after the middle of book 2, i couldn't put it down.
Rating: Summary: This book is boring! Review: This book is very boring. The characters are mildly interesting but there is very little development of the characters. Very bland. The book takes over 300 pages before anything gets interesting. I do give it credit for being different from your standard fantasy but it just doesn't have good content to keep one interested. Reading never felt like such a chore before this book. A word of warning as you go through these reviews, beware that some reviewers have given away some spoilers without warning. Read these reviews with caution if you do not want the ending of this book ruined for you.
