Summary: Run-of-the-mill story and world
Review: The idea of a world sundered by ancient wizards into floating islands makes me think of the excellent "Shattered World" by Michael Reave, a wonderful novel that presents an interesting world with true depth. In Dragon Wing, Arianus, the realm of air, has a superficial feel to it. Occasionally, random facts are presented in footnotes but the history and culture feels empty and artificial. The plot takes a long time to develop, the dialogue of the characters is stilted, and the authors seem unable to hold a consistent tension.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Average & overrated.
Review: What's so great about this? It lacks depth. The 2nd book in the series is practically unreadable. Do yourself a favor. Read Guy Kay, Robin Hobbs, Stephen Donaldson, C.S. Friedman. Any of their work is 100 times better than this.

Summary: An intense book which engulfs the soul.
Review: Dragon Wing, this first of the Death Gate Cycle. We are introduced to the realm of air, a place where a king hires an assassin to kill his son, two ancient enemies battle for the key to the realm, a race uses it's godlike technology to control an other, and a wizard plans to take it all over. This book takes a look into the dark recesses of the mind, examining the ruthless pursuit of death, murder, manipulation, and absolute power. A spellbinding book sure to keep those reading it enmeshed in the intricate detial of the story and characters for hours on end

Summary: One of the easiest to read sagas in print
Review: I was left longing for more and more once I'd finished the dragonlance chronicles and legends series, but none were forthcoming. Then Weis/Hickman released their Deathgate cycle, and the void was filled. You will meet wonderful characters who play critical roles throughout the entire saga, including one character familiar to all who've read dragonlance. The worlds are described beautifully; given ample time to flesh out the physical characteristics of these different environments. The later volumes did not dwell so much on this, rather they developed the details of the story to greater depths. Unfortunately there have not been any supplements to this series unlike the plethora of dragonlance novels being written. The entire content of this series is complex, colourful and very possibly the most complete look at a whole new world

Summary: Wonderus, completaly magical. A powerful saga
Review: Amzing! The Sartan Alfred is a splinded part. The Assasain Hugh is a grand twist in the plot. Siniastad is a grand enemy, as is Iradil I say this can rival J. R. R. Tolken and C. S. Freidman

Summary: If you like Fantasy/Science Fiction......you'll love this!!!
Review: The entire Death Gate Cycle is absolutely a brilliant story. The exciting imagination of these two writers is once again on display in this works. The story is set in a very believable post-nuclear holocaust on Earth! The creativity and ingenuity are absolutely phenomenal! The story will keep your interest and won't let you put the book down. It will also have you running out to buy the next book in the cycle! Only drawback........there are only seven books! There should be a spin-off to this seven book masterpiece!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: The first book in Weis/Hickman's newest seven book series.
Review: Dragon Wing introduces readers to mysterious Arianus, World of Air, where isles of land float amongst the vast expanse of air, and where water is so scarce, that man, and elf, are willing to bring about a world war to obtain it and learn about the wonderous machine called the Kicksey-Winsey. Discover what millions of people have already discovered by reading Dragon Wing

Summary: Great start for an ever greater series...
Review: This is a very good beginning for one of the best series I have read. The book starts off slow and dark...setting the mood just right for one if its most interesting characters, Hugh the Hand. From then on out, you are treated with a whirlwing adventure. I recommend it highly..

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An amazing fantasy novel, truly the start of something good!
Review: This book was definitely one of their best. The introduction of the Patryn and Sartan races was a stroke of genius for the story line. It was extremely well written and excellently detailed. It was exciting and moving. You can truly empathize with the characters and can easily get into the novel. It is the beginning of a series of equally excellent books. They are a must have for any fantasy lover with any good taste at all.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An extrordinary next step in epic fantasy.
Review: Dragon Wing is an extrordinary next step in the fantasy arena. Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman created a world full of intrigue and mystery. In this world, the lands are floating continents in the sky, existing in a tri level setup. The hirearchy is well defined, the powerful(High mystriarchs) live on the highest level, and the wrecthed (Gegs) on the lowest. In the middle are the elves and humans vying for power. Unkown to the world, a powerful being has returned to them. A Patryn, a demi god in his own right has come to explore the world and find evidence of his enemies existance. The story is slightly slow at first. The only reason for my rating of nine. After the somewhat slow start, things pick up and never will you allow yourself to stop riding the rollercoaster that Hickman and Weis have created for you
