Summary: Great book but hardly the end we hopeE!R
Review: Polgara the sorceress is the only woman I think my husband would leave me for. The individuals who think Pol is a rehash obviously haven't figured out the Belgariad and the Mallorean. This is another great installment in a terrific series in its most unique point of view yet. However there is still much more that could be told, specifically the even more unique story of Poledra the Wolf and the delightfully maniacal and twisted tale of Beldin the hunchback. We loved it. We have read the entirity of the series in the car traveling across the country and recommend that everyone does so.

Summary: It depends on the point of view
Review: Yes, I've rated this novel with a 10 just because it's worth it. Though different from all the other books related to the Belgariad, it is very good. The only difference is that unlike in the other 11 books the story's focus is strictly on Polgara's own point of view - how she lived through all these years. Of course some readers will be very disappointed, but that's life. I always wanted to know how the sorceress made her way and this curiosity was well satisfied. In some points (esp. seen from the action angle) the book did not reach the others but on the other hand I didn't expect it to. It is really great.

Summary: A must have if your a fan, otherwise?????
Review: As a continuing book in the series it is ok but it fails as a stand-alone book, something I think every author should strive for. I think the center of the book was the best but certainly not worth what you have to wade through to get there and after Polgara's time in Arendia the story goes way downhill. To the Eddings if you are reading this I hope that you can continue the storyline but try to do a better job. I think there is lots of stuff left to explore. (Beldin, Poledra, Zedar, etc.)

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A compliment to a true classic.
Review: The other reviewers have already said it all. I'd just like to add that a true compliment to a book is when no-one says it is average. Either they hate it, or they love it. This is the sign of a true masterpiece.

Summary: A total REHASH
Review: I don't know what's up with this book getting so many 8+ scores. This book was a complete rehash of "Belgarath" with very little new enlightenment about the world they live in. While entertaining and an easy read, I would recommend waiting for the paperback if you're an Eddings fan. Otherwise skip it.

Summary: David Eddings is the best author alive!!!!!!!
Review: David Eddings is truly the best author alive. I was just 10 years old when I was introduced to Sparhawk and David Eddings by my older sister. I liked it immensely, but it was not the greatest thing I have ever read. Then I stumbled upon the Belgariad and the Mallorean, and I was forever lost in the dim world of savageness and ancient gods fighting with man in an ancient prophecy of niversal domination. I have read all the Eddings books at least nine times over. The way that Eddings writes makes you battle next to Garion in the city of Endless night with the maimed god Torak. Throughout the 10 books that had Garion and all his companions, it seemed that the characters were so real as if they were my best friends. I knew them better then I know my girlfriend or best friend whom i've known for 8 years. The tiny intricate things that made the series click together truly seperates the master from the college graduate. The depth of emotion Eddings can wring from a simple page of words is truly masterful. I can feel Polgara's pain when Vo Wacune is destroyed, I can feel Ce'Nedra's happiness when she gets her son back from the evil grolim Zandramas. David Eddings sattirical view on many things such as religious fanatics, and power that a king may obtain, and the effect of power upon a person is truly evident. Eddings is no doubt the greatest author that has ever lived. Joe Jhala

Summary: A pleasing end
Review: Polgara is the first Belgariad/Mallorean book which Eddings fans have mixed feelings for. According to reviews, the majority of the other books got straight 10s or 9s but Polgara has scored a few marks less than 5. Polgara is written with a complete different style from all of Eddings books, and I think that is because is was written more by David's wife, and not David. The book has a a very womenly feel and has less action and humour than all the other books. Though I thought it was a wonderful book, it is not his best, but I thought it wraped up the Belgariad and Mallorean world quite well, with only a few thousand questions still left. (Like what sex are the twins!!!)

Summary: A perfect end to a great Fantasy series
Review: What a wonderful way to bring this monumental series to an end! Not only do we get to meet a lot of old friends again, but this book finishes the task of tying together the other books in the series which was begun in Belgarath the Sorcerer.

After reading Polgara the Sorceress, I just had to start over with Pawn of Prophecy and read my way through the entire series again. I just finished Polgara the Sorceress for the second time, and I think I liked it even more than I did the first time through.

Summary: WONDERFUL!!!!
Review: I'm only 12 and have read the belgariad/mallorean and LOVED them. Belgarath the Sorcerer was O.K. but, POLGARA WAS GREAT!!!! The story of her love for Ontrose her greif when Beldaran died, and the proud Dutchess of Erat. A WONDERFUL piece of lit.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Stale and disappointing
Review: I was disappointed with this book. I am a big fan of Eddings', the Belgariad and his other fantasy series. As I started the book, it was interesting, particularly in the development of the ongoing Arendia problem and Polgara's handling of it. However, after that the book lost it's way and became a documentation of events rather than a rich story. I get the feeling that David and Leigh lost patience with this book and were anxious to finish the series.
