Summary: great book
Review: this book filed in many things that were missing from the belgariad and the melorean it is a book that tells many thing you wonder about polgara and poledra it tells how polgara got so good at her "talent" and why all the birds adresse her by her first name it tells what the tree is doing in the vale and what it signifagance is i know that it does tell in another book but it goes into better detail and about her sister and how she was rivan queen and about the many descendants i loved to learn what happened in the past and i really loved this book and even if it was off on some things you have to give David Eddings lee-way he is getting kinda old and he is only trying to entertain his public so if you got something to say to cridasize him on you are an idiot

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent story about Polgara and her life!
Review: How did Polgara become a soceress? Read this book and it will enthrall you to the end. I was not able to put it down. This book tells in "Polgara's" words how she became a Dutchess, a sworn protector of the Rivan descendants, a dancer, and kept a secret from her famous father,Belgarath. Very well done!!!

Summary: A little criticism
Review: I wrote some before - I basically enjoyed the book, but found it repetitious. Actually, some of it is inconsistent with events and statements in the Belgariad. In "Pawn of Prophecy", Polgara tells Belgarath at one point that she knows nothing about raising a child. Later, Belgarath overrules Polgara several times - and Polgara LETS HIM. This makes no sense, given that Polgara spent years helping to raise these boys and Belgarath (obviously) has has no experience raising a child for 4000 yrs.
And what about when Brendig captures the party before leaving Sendaria? Polgara is going by the title the Duchess of Erat - yet Brendig has never heard of it!! Given that Polgara essentially created Sendaria, you would think that anyone with any court background would INSTANTLY recognise the most important person in the country's history?
The last contradiction is in the last book - Polgara tells Ce'Nedra that Belgarath told her that she was fated to be the bride of Torak when Polgara was about Ce'Nedra's age - but now we find out that it was Poledra just before the Battle of Vo Mimbre and Belgarath didn't find out until later. I still liked the book - I just think that Eddings could have spent some time doing some research on his own books.

Summary: A woman's view
Review: Yes, Polgara was written from a woman's perspective, yes there was less action. But there was a lot of humor, and, better than in all the other books, we find out what happens during those times Polgara pulled a "disappearing" act and "took care of something." The books were never really descriptive of what it was, precisely, she did. Now we find out that she was as much a sorceress as Belgarath and Beldin were sorcerers, though she may have done things in her own unique style, she still affected the world as much as the other two. I found her dealings with other woman characters especially interesting. I love the action in the other books, but sometimes, I enjoy reading something that can stand on it's own without relying on great battles or action-packed page. And yes, MORE MORE MORE. Poledra HAS GOT to be an interesting story, if only on the account that she's basically, a wolf. I wonder though, how long can this series go on?

Summary: A peek into what makes Polgara the way she is.
Review: A good story if you have read the previous Belgariad and Mallorean books. Now we know why Polgara acts like she does. I have had enough of the history lesson now and would like to get on with the story. What happens to Garion's kids? What happens to Polgara's twins?

Summary: Back with old friends
Review: It's been a while since I read the Eddings books, so I wasn't in any huge rush to read this one. But as soon as I picked it up and started reading, I was just engrossed in it. It's like coming home; these characters are so real, they feel like old friends... like family. And even though I knew the basic story, it was fun to meet new characters and learn more about Pol's history. It made me laugh; it made me cry. What a wonderful book!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Another good book by Eddings. 'Nuf said.
Review: Unless you've read the Belgariad and Mallorean, and Belgarath the Sorcerer, dont read this book. If you HAVE read those...well...it's what you've come to expect from Eddings. Superb story, intricate plots, subterfuge, and endless laughter.

Summary: Time to move on...
Review: This book, as good as it is, is running into a fairly common problem that modern fantasy series have - not knowing when to stop rehashing. There is nothing in the book that is particularly new from a plot point of view, though the reader certainly understands Polgara a great deal better (and the reader finds out that Polgara has a sense of humor!). As a companion to the others and as a fleshing out of the world, it is useful - but it is time to move on. Eddings may soon run into the trap comic strips run into - they run out of original things to say.

Summary: Brilliant
Review: What A Brilliant book. Totally differemt from Belgarath the Socerer. Anyone who says it is the same may be refering the conversations which are the same, but is this suprising? No. This book goes into much more detail than the other books related to this series. READ IT!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: It's Eddings, what can I say?
Review: Just because it is part of the Belgariad/Mallorean series written by D&L Eddings it deserves a 100/10 rating. EDDINGS KICKS BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MORE! MUST HAVE MORE!
