Summary: A great book following the life of Masterharper Robinton
Review: This book starts with Robinton, the much awaited child of the Mastersinger of Pern. He becomes ignored by his father Petiron. He makes instruments sings and writes songs without his father knowing. He grows up to be one of the most beloved men on Pern

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Too bad there isn't a Six Star category...
Review: Once again simply spectacular writing and characterization. As with everything she writes (or even helps to write- see Jody Lynn Nye's works) Anne McCaffrey has given us a fresh view of one of her most beloved characters. The only problem with her books is that they end. In all seriousness, I have enjoyed everything she has written and will remain a life-long fan. While her Pern Dragon books are generally the most well known one cannot overlook her other writings. To anyone who has enjoyed one of her books I can without reservation recommend anything else she has written... My favorite is the Dinosaur Planet and Planet Pirate series of books, or maybe the Killashandra series, or maybe the Ship Who Sang series, or maybe... you get the picture.

Summary: Fantastic read - I fell in love with the Masterharper!
Review: Anne McCaffrey is the only science fiction writer I read and this book just confirms her place in my mind! A great storyteller, no matter the genre.

The Masterharper has always been one of my favorite characters in the other Pern sagas and I was very pleased when he finally got a book of his own. A great read that kept me up awake until 3:00 am!

Summary: GREAT INSIGHT INTO OWN OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PEOPLE OF PERN.
Review: THIS BOOK IS GREAT DESCRIBING WHO MASTERHAPER ROBINTON REALLY IS AND HOW HE BECOME A GREAT LEADER AND WHY HE WAS ABLE TO HELP SAVE HIS LOVELY PERN. ANNE McCAFFREY IS THE BEST WHEN IT COMES TO BEING ABLE TO PUT YOU IN HER BOOKS AS IF YOUR ON PERN AND LIVING THE LIFE OF A PERNESE. WHILE READING HER BOOK I CAME TO UNDERSTAND THE WORLD OF PERN SO MUCH BETTER. IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK YET AND YOU LOVE PERN AND DRAGONS YOU'LL LOVE THIS BOOK AND WANT TO ADD IT TO YOU'R COLLECTION. ANY QUESTIONS OR JUST WANT TO TALK TO ANOTHER ANN McCAFFERY FAN I WOULD BE MORE THEN HAPPY.

Summary: Amazing!

Summary: It's about time!!!
Review: I own the whole Dragonrider series in hard cover and paperback. I was highly pleased to see a book devoted to the beloved Master. If people want to know what happens between the death of Fax and the death of Robinton, read the series. I would like to see a story about where Sebell comes from.

Summary: Masterharper Anne McCaffery enchants once more!
Review: The Masterharper of Pern satisfies both the neophyte and the experienced dragonlover! Thank you Ms. McCaffrey for filling in some details of the lives of our friends (wow, Robinton knew F'Lon!) and still writing a story that excels in character development enough to appeal to new readers! Brava, Anne! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Summary: The Masterharper fills the gaps and answers all kinds of ?'s
Review: after reading Anne McCaffrey since my early teens (nearly 17 years!) I have always wanted to know more of the "main" characters and where they came from- Groghe, F'lar, F'nor and the like. Questions like this are all answered in this book. It is a wonderful tale of how a great man came to be, expressing his faults, his loves, his disappointments. I especially loved it when Ms McCaffrey incorporated a chapter from a previously written book into this story! This is a great book to curl up onto a favorite chair with, something I'll be doing again and again!

Summary: interesting (for Pern addicts like myself) but no magic
Review: Like I said. In case you haven't had enough of Pern and it's many denizens (is it possible??) here's a look at the pre-"Dragonfligh" life of Masterharper Robinton. Someone who previewed this before me wrote that they found Robinton too perfect. I agree completely. This guy leads a charmed life. A protege who everybody swarms to protect...still, you like him. I did, anyway. He's a very warm, fatherly figure, like a favorite college professor or something. Anyway, like I said, no Lessa, no F'lar, no Jaxom, few dragons = no magic. The coolest thing about this book was learning of F'lar's and F'nor's folks (it makes you want to read "Dragonflight" again, which is always fun)...and they're original names! Fallarnon and Famanoran?!?! For dear, utterly imperturbable, capable, stoic F'lar?? THAT was worth the price of the book!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not for Pern Newbies, but Satisfying for the Dragon Lovers!
Review: Anytime there is a retelling of information you've read in previous books, it might get a bit boring. For those who love the world of Pern, this just enriches the experience.
