Summary: Lynn does it again
Review: As I said about "Luck in the Shadows" so this goes for "Stalking Darkness" beg, borrow, or go to your local library, but don't miss this exciting sequel to "Luck..". I am waiting for the arrival of the third in this series. This has to be one of the best series writen. It handles the growing love between the two characters with infinite patience and a touching humility. Don't let the sexuality of the book (there is no overt/explicit sex) worry you. It is handled with a Master's touch with the reader cheering all the way.

Summary: A worthy sequel to Luck in the Shadows!
Review: This was a definite page-turner and I found myself thoroughly immersed in the storyline. You won't regret reading it!

Summary: Fabulous high fantasy!
Review: The characters are well-crafted, the world is beautifully created, and the story is compelling and entertaining. Alec, Seregil, Nysander, Micum, Beka, and all of the other characters are just wonderful! I highly recommend the entire series!

Summary: A good book, if you are comfortable with strong gay theme
Review: This is a good book and is well written. The gay story line is not to my reading taste. Many of the reviewers have taken others to task for this remark. It shows that there can be a difference of what each of of likes to read. The gay theme is much like Mercedes Lackey and I notice that most of the reviewers who like the story line also like Lackey. (I also like Lackey..but again have no point of reference to gay characters). Difficult to relate to this dominate theme. A very good triolgy despite the above.

Summary: How Can You Not Like This Book?????
Review: I read Luck and Stalking in one go, and loved both of them. The plot is so cool, and I think both A&S deserve their happiness. Those of you who have problems with the relationship... well, just forget you. I may be a little younger than the average Flewelling reader, but my opinion still counts. I say read this book!

Summary: Great book but.....
Review: I enjoyed Luck of the Shadows very much, then started in on Stalking Darkness, it's also very well written, however I do feel uncomfortable with Alec and Sergil's attraction for each other. It's hard to feel any connection to these characters when you know they are gay. The homosexuality theme sort of crept into the novel, and there is more of it in "Traitor's Moon". I've only read the first few pages, but the relationship between these two men continues. Thus creating a Catch-22, you want to see how the story ends, but you don't want to hear about the "relationship" between Alec and Sergil.

Summary: read this book!!!
Review: Oh my God!!! This is definitely one of the most amazing books I've ever read. It is so full of intrigue, humour, wonderful characters and plot that I found it impossible to put down! Seregil is such a wonderfulfully enigmatic character and Alec is by far my favourite (athough a bit too innocent at times...). For those of you who out there who didnt like this book because of their relationship...well, all I can say is that's pathetic because that's one of the best things in the book! They each deserve their happiness! Anyways I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars and I wish Lynn Flewelling would hurry up and finish the sequel!!! It's 1999 for God's sake!!! I'm dying here...

Summary: disappointed
Review: I guess I don't see what everyone else likes about this book. I thoroughly enjoyed Luck in the Shadows and would enthusiastically recommend it, but am greatly disappointed in Stalking Darkness. There have been only three books that I've never finished: Ulysses by Joyce, Peloponnesian Wars by Thucydides, and now Stalking.

I read about the first half of the book. The plot dragged, the characters dragged. I'm disappointed with what Flewelling has done to Alec. It has been been pretty apparant that he's attracted to Seregil, but didn't know how to act. And the way that Seregil treats Alec - this is up through the Streets of Lights - was the final straw.

My friend who recommended the books and I talked about my reaction. He assured me that the 2nd half was much better. But he had problems with the storyline development: the relationship between Alec and Seregil is almost an afterthought as the story starts a new plot for book 3.

Maybe some day I'll finish Stalking. But I can think of better books I'd rather read first.

Summary: I love these books!
Review: The Nightrunner series is one of the most vibrant, wonderful things I've ever come across. Lynn Flewelling creates a world so real that I feel as though I could crawl into the pages and inhabit it with all her wonderful characters. So often in fantasy novels, the secondary characters serve only as plot devices, but all the characters in Nightrunner are well rounded and alive. I'm especially pleased at her decision to make Seregil and Alec lovers. I've been looking for books like these for a long, long time.

Summary: ...And the Second one was even better!
Review: I wish I could give more then just 5 stars to these two books. I adored Luck in the Shadows and have found Stalking Darkness to be even better. I applude Flewelling's choice not to stay to the sterotypical characters. The depth and thought she brings to all her characters, not just Seregill and Alec but also the secondary characters as well shows her attatchment to them and that she thought them each out, instead pulling them from a formula pile. The plot moves at a rapid fire pace and not a single word or scene is wasted in the book. Everything ties to either the central plot or the fascinating sub-plots. Both these books are wonderfully refreshing, and powerfully engaging and I already have the third book on reserve at my local bookstore.
