Rating: Summary: You HAVE to read this book!! Review: Omg, if the first one wasn't great enough, this one was even better!! Out of the three nightrunner books out so far, this one was my favorite. I *love* Seregil and Alec. The characters are great, and the story is wonderful and fun and funny. It's a complete joy to read, and I don't even like reading too much. (go figure)
Rating: Summary: Stalking Darkness Review: Stalking Darkness is one of the best fantasy novels I have read, it has magic and intrigue and romance. The continuing saga of Seregil and Alec. They have become closer friends and are now almost inseparable. They continue to grow and learn of life love and other useful skills. In this novel the Plenimaran's recreate the helm of Serianaius, and as part of a prophecy Nysander, Micium, Seregil, and Alec must destroy it. It takes all the courage and love Seregil has for his friend Nysander to complete the task ahead of him.
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly Increadable and Addictive Review: What can I say about this book(and it's predecessor "Luck in the Shadows") that can give you any idea of what your getting yourself into the moment you start? These books are surprisingly incredable. I wont lie to you, I bought them based only on the fact that I heard there was a male/male couple. I was thrown into a world I quickly fell deeply in love with. The writing style is refreshing, descriptive but not long-winded. The characters, both good and evil, are rich and full of color. I've come to love each and every one of them(ok maybe not the necromancers but you get the general idea ^_~) I cried for them, laughed with them, wanted to comfort them or go off and kill their enemies. Seregil and Alec are two of the coolest characters I've read about in a long time, and I even came to love Thero by the end. The female characters even though they're parts weren't as large as the males, were strong willed and wonderful. I guess if I had to sum up Lynn Flewelling's writing in one word it would be Addictive. I highly recommend this book to anyone willing to stay up long into the wee hours of the morning reading ^_^
Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: Faster moving than the first book this is another one you won't want to miss. It goes further into the characters, and you begin to love them even more! She even gives you glimpses of Thero and I love that wizard! The ending is suprising, and many of the scenes brought a tear to my eye. You definatly want this book.
Rating: Summary: Even better than the first book Review: The second book in the Nightrunner series is the best one, so far. Flewelling draws on the character development in the first book and builds upon a solid story. This one you will not want to put down. The characters become more personal and their activities more risky.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: I fell in love with this author - and the characters with the first book (luck in the shadows) The characters are quirky, humorous, and have a depth to them that makes the book hard to put down. The histories are rich and unforgettable - not always so with fantasy books. I only hope the author will hurry with the fourth book in the series!
Rating: Summary: Love and Honor Review: Stalking Darkness explores the dangers and pleasures of Rhiminiee on the way to a satisfying resolution, which answers as many questions as it raises. Seregil is a young man - fiery, impetuous, and passionate - but with all the strengths of age:wisdom, learning and experience. This is an irresistable combination for both his apprentice Alec and the reader. It's hard to be both friend and mentor, but by making Seregil a member of the extraordinary 'Aurenfaie' race, Flewelling solves this problem, for the teacher with decades of experience is revealed to be, in Aurenfaie years, almost of an age with his pupil. Don't miss these 'episodes': 1. Dravnia on ice 2. Impromptu dancing at Wheel Street 3. Religious festivities with a supernatural flourish 4. Snow in Watermead 5. A little sewer crawling 6. Lord Seregil roistering and gambling about town 7. The return of the dreaded dra'gorgos 8. Mardus and Vargul closer than whispers at Alec's and Seregil's backs Flewelling excels at showcasing personality:quick-silver Seregil, bristling with fiery intelligence, and the fiercely loyal Alec with his cooler, calmer wit. What a team! Their friendship and the plot deepen together. This is the rare book that exceeds one's highest expectations.
Rating: Summary: A fitting sequel Review: "Stalking Darkness" is a great sequel to "Luck in the Shadows". The characters are wonderful and you get to know much more about them, like Micum and his family as well as Thero, who isn't as bad as you might think. The growing relationship between Seregil and Alec doesn't bother me personally, but it's very tame and doesn't have a too central role in the story. The end is sort of sad, but fitting and really makes you want to read the third book. I had read this a while ago and I had to wait 3 years! This is a book worth reading.
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLE! Review: I waited for this book for what seemed like years and years (only one, really), and, amazingly, I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved Seregil and Alec, not to mention the story. Plus, the secondary characters are also really well written, which is not always the case. I loved it, and I've lost count of the number of times I've reread it...
Rating: Summary: Darkly enthralling Review: Stalking Darkness picks up the story that left us hanging in Luck in the Shadows. Flewelling spins an intriguing tale of dark magic, prophecy, revenge and war in this deep-running installment of the series. It touches on many issues with finesse and great plot construction. Amazing storyline. Excitingly and breathtakingly edge-of-your-seat stuff.
