Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good, but was cut off. Review: This book, like all of Feist's previous books was well written, and was one of the books that you just can't put down. I was disappointed, though, as the end was quite abrupt. By Feist's previous standards, in order to cover all that happened in this book sufficiently, it would(should) have taken at least another book. Many of the characters in this book just didn't show the brilliant characterization that helps make Feist (in my opinion) the greatest Sci-Fi/Fantasy author out there(even over Robert Jordan). There just wasn't enough space to develop all of the characters Feist presented in the series. By the way, what happened to Roo? He was one of the main characters throughout the series, and was barely present in this one. Don't get me wrong, I loved the book and the series, I just didn't think that it finished nearly as well as I've come to expect from Feist. I'm one of his biggest fans- I've read every book he's written at least 10 times (okay, I read too much, but it only takes a couple of weeks to get through it all). His editors did make some mistakes, and many of the characters (especially Pug and Tomas) seemed to be quite changed from previous books. I don't know if this was from forgetfulness, or because Feist was preoccupied with Betrayal, but it was very disappointing to see these characters change after so much character development in Feist's previous works. All in all, it was a good book, and definately worth reading, but compared to most of his other works, it just didn't measure up.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: I had hoped... Review: I've read most of Feist's books now, all of them in the "mainstream" Riftwar, In-betweens, and now the Serpernt War. I've seen better by him, and I can downright saw I was disapointed at the medicore ending. Hell-o, Pug loses it, Erik just disappears, Roo disappears, Jimmy can't get married to his lady-love, and Dash loses his lady and becomes the leader of the Mockers?! Yeah, right. I'll admit that Arutha was a lot more interesting as a character dead than alive, but isn't it more useful to have an ALIVE character than a dead one 'haunting' everybody? Still, not a bad ending at all, but I wish it had more substance though. I've wanted almost 3 months for this to come out in paperback, and now that i've got it, its only worth is the ending of the series. Pity.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Shards of a broken reader Review: Having long been a fan of Feist, I was dissapointed by the 'thin' ending of this novel. If this is, indeed, the last volume in the Serpent War saga, then the author has left the principal characters wandering off into literary limbo. For Feist to end Eric's involvement in this series by proclaiming him to want to return to the simple life (I think I'll go back to Ravensburg and shoe horses), or to state that Roo will simply find a way to rebuild his fortune, smacks of literary insolvency. It almost appears that the author lost interest in the story and just wanted to finish it. Feist's strength is in the detail he imparts on his characters. The ending of this saga, as it relates to the people we came to know and love (or hate) was a real letdown. Perhaps the void will be filled in his next saga-annuity.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Could be improved Review: The story plot has far extended itself with too many characters that leaves many with a superficial role. Take Jimmy and Dashel, surely there must be some compelling events to shape them to take on such diverging characters later on. The premature death of William and Arutha would be sorely missed. I just hope that Feist would stick to a manageable number of characters and develop them. Just in Magician, the character Kulgan was so well developed that his shadow still lingers in Pug's character in the later books.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: this is a really good book Review: Rage of a Demon King is a phenomenal book. It has romance, it has action, and it has magic! Anybody who reads it will love it. Raymond E. Feist does a wonderful job of developing the characters and the story. He has a wonderful imagination to dream up a whole world. This Science fiction/fantasy is a sure pleaser. The story starts on Midkemia, a world much like that of the medieval times. There's a king, neighboring kingdoms, castles, dukes, lords, princes and seas and ships. But a difference is that there are elves, goblins, dragons, fire drakes and dwarves. The elves are not your short "Santa's Helpers" elves. They are mystical people, often over 6 feet tall. They are a peaceful, long lived (usually about 1,000 years) race, and fight only when necessary. They are excellent hunters and archers, and the best trackers on Midkemia. Goblins are a stupid, evil race. They are short, scaled and live in the mountains, rarely fighting with their superior races. Dragons are a myth to most humans on Midkemia. They can change shape and are very intelligent. Possibly more intelligent than humans. They live for thousands of years and can grow to huge proportions. Fire drakes are a smaller cousin to the dragons. They are about the size of dogs and are as intelligent as dogs. They can also breathe fire, but only do so when hunting. Dwarves are also very intelligent and they look a lot like elves and humans. They average about four feet tall. They are peaceful but are fierce warriors when necessary. In this story there are many main characters. Pug is the second most powerful magician, next to Macros. They are both good (not evil), even though Macros is called "The Black". Thomas is the most awesome warrior in the world of Midkemia. He has powers that date back thousands of years, from a race called the Dragon Lords. Calis is his son and is part elf. Calis is the only half elf and half human being in Midkemia because for everybody, exept Thomas who married the elf queen, it is impossible to have such a child. For this reason Calis is the only one of his race. Calis is very special and plays the most important role in the story. Miranda is Pugs and Calis' friend. She also is Macros' daughter and a magician. Nakor is just a funny little gambler , who claims to "know a few tricks" but is actually pretty powerful. All of these people are long lived, because they are either an elf, a magician, or a magical being. Erik and Roo are not magical, but they also are important characters. Erik is a sergeant and later a captain of the prince's special army. Roo is his best friend and a rich merchant in the city of Krondor. In the Rage of a Demon King, Midkemia is under attack by a gigantically powerful army, secretly led by a demon. The demon is actually controlled by an evil god who has some reason to get the life stone (a stone which is connected to each and every living thing on Midkemia.). If it is used, all will die. But only Calis, Pug, Macros, Miranda, Nakor, and some nobles know about it. Most people only know about the army, like Erik and Roo. The kingdom has to fight for all things in Midkemia and perhaps in the universe. Rage of a Demon King is a great adventure and a spectacular story. Whoever reads this overview has to read the book. It is a book you will never forget. But before you read Rage of a Demon King, you have to read Shadow of a Dark Queen and Rise of a Merchant Prince. You should also read Magician, Silverthorne, A Darkness at Sethanon, Prince of Blood, and The King's Buccaneer. These books are all by Raymond E. Feist and are all as extraordinary as Rage of a Demon King. Go to your bookstore and pick up your copy of Rage of a Demon King now!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Not bad... but editing could be better... Review: a good ending to the saga.. but alot of loose ends to tie up. I would wait until paperback comes out to buy this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Excellent Series Review: So far (so far as in I haven't read the whole book yet)this book has started out interesting. But why the downward slope in Feist's writing? I have loved his series with a passion, and am eager for more, but am somewhat let down. His writings are enthralling and exciting, even Shards which is not what Id hoped it would be. Where is Feist anyway? What does he have to say about this last book? Why the rushed ending, and editing mistakes? I'd like to hear what he has to say about this. I still however despite the rush of the story etc., must say Feist is an intriguing author with an incredible writing style.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Good Story That Ends Too Early Review: Shards Of A Broken Crown was quite a magnificent book in most ways! The way Feist builds up the story was really interesting. It was as if you were by Eric's side while he fought towards Hawk's Hollow and participated in the numerous arguments between Pug(very wise person) and the idiotic Prince Patrick(you really feel like punching the moron. He acts worse than a child sometimes.) Sometimes I really wonder how King Borric could have had such a stupid stupid son. Sighhhh! The royal line has definitely mellowed since Prince Arutha and King Lyam. Now those were REAL examples of how royalty should be. The one fault in this book(to me) is how the major battle (between Pug,Tomas ,Miranda and Nakor against the 'Dream' ) ended so simply. There just wasn't enough details on the creature and the Mad God. Still this book was quite marvelous and i now wait in anticipation of the DarkWar Saga books!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Could have been a better ending... Review: Well, this was definately a good book, but I also agree that the ending could have been a little more involved. I am a longtime fan of Jimmy and Hand, though, and it was refreshing to find how much Dash was like him. I've read all of Feist's books and find them all amazing. Keep up the good work!!
