Summary: I can't wait for this book.
Review: I have read all of the Midkemian series, and I can tell you , Mr. Feist is one of the best authors, of fantasy, I've ever read. I've fallen in love with his characters from the lovable young Pug to that "rat faced" Rupert. This whole world is a must for any library. ENJOY!!

Summary: Not the same without Jimmy but great none the less!
Review:

Although I have yet to read it I'm sure it will be one of his best to date. I will certainly buy iy when it comes out!

Summary: Feist strikes again!
Review: Of course I haven't read this yet, but it looks to be yet another great book from my favourite author, Raymond E. Feist! I wonder what it will be about, since it seems that he wrapped up a lot of the story already in Rage of a Demon King (At least I think he did...can't talk about it much -spoilers!). Whatever happens in the story, it will be very good reading! Hmmm... I wonder what he will write after this book....?

Summary: Feist is a winner!
Review: Obviously, I haven't read this book, but Ray Feist is a fantasy author worth reading! Start with Magician and work your way forward. This book will complete a 4 book series and his books always are exciting and thought provoking!

Summary: advance praise
Review: Obviously, since this book is not published yet, I have not read it . However, I have read all Mr. Feist's other books and they are gorgeously well written and engrossing. I know that this, the most recent of a line of epics, will equal and surpass it's predecessors. Bravo Mr. Feist!

Summary: Doesn't have the good grace to lie down and die
Review: This is one of those books where you sit and think to yourself "Gee if the author had just stopped at the previous book thing would have been cool."

No that would have been too easy instead this book stumbles along kinda half-baked while there are a few fun moments such as with Jimmy and Dash and their chocies in life this book is totally forgetable. Its a shame really..the chausm between the first and fourth book as a mile wide when you take into account like things like plot and charecter development.

Overall-if you thought this book was bad don'tgo any further Feist only compounds his errors in the next two books.

Summary: Leaves you wanting more
Review: The last book of the Serpent war is maybe not the best, but it is a satisfactory ending to the story, albeit a bit off balance if you compare it to the to-the-pointness of the earlier three. Feist should not have steered the plot into deeper and deeper evil to be vanquished, and the part of the battle with the final evil is downright poorly written. The unimpressed way the heroes deal with that cannot bring up any suspense at all.

Not that I think he will read it, but still a word of advice to Mr Feist: beware of the automatic pilot! Either end the story, or open up new threads that are worth developing, but don't introduce subplots that only last for 30 or so pages just to throw in yet another demon. not in a 2000 page saga anyway.

Summary: Look in the mirror...
Review: Many of the reviewers are criticizing this book for its "rewriting" of Midkemian history. Events that were described in previous books are changed. Remember though, that this kind of thing happens all the time in real life.

History textbooks are often rewritten, sometimes contradicting 'facts' that everyone knew from previous editions! If you read a history text of Alaska from 50 years ago, you will find that most of it was made up because the authors didn't know what really happened.

This just adds another dimension to Feists work. The characters tend to be very real, often making the some mistakes that we would in the same situation (if we didn't have our omnipotent view as readers:-)). Sometimes characters forget vital information. They lie, cheat, steal, and yes, even die. I find this far more realistic than a saga like the Lord of the Rings (not to knock it down or anything; I liked it), where the good guys are all perfectly good, not to mention immortal, and the bad guys are totally evil.

Summary: Magic takes a turn for the worst...
Review: In this book, I found that I enjoyed the continued stories about Erik and Roo, and Jimmy and Dash, but I was continuously (...) about Pug and the whole magical side of the book. Pug might as well be completely powerless in this book for the world of good he does. I think Feist got tired of writing about magic and just tried to throw it together in something resembling a conclusion. The truth of the matter is, the Riftwar Saga was amazing, and the beginning of the Serpetwar Saga that concentrated on the military and financial side of the war was incredible, realistic, and intriguing. But then Feist tried to throw in the magic part of the series and just screwed it up for all his fans. A disappointing end for what could have been a wonderful series. But don't give up hope yet... Feist could still produce a winner with his next series.
