Summary: On a scale of 10 this series is a 20
Review: I've been fortunate enough to read all of the Belgariad & the Mallorean series & to those interested, do yourself a favor & read them all. The characters of these series each have a distinct & interesting personality which will entertain the reader for hours. When I first started reading the Belgariad, there were only three or so books out, so I had to wait for the next one to be published. I was sad when they finally were finished, but all good things must end sometime. I must say that if I could I would thank David Eddings for many lost hours of sleep & a truckload of enjoyable memories.

Summary: Good, but not great
Review: First of all, I have to say that I enjoyed all of Edding's books that I have read. However, they are not the most original or well-written books that I have ever read. In fact, I found it suprisingly refreshing to encounter a writer who doesn't write that well and yet still entertains me.

Summary: Can I yawn mre while reading a series?
Review: If Eddings ran his main characters into any more opposition, they might break a fingernail. I have not read a more cliche and montonous series as eddings wrote and rehashes the plot. I need to get his address so I can send him a dollar to get creative enough to think up a new plot next time. Every book in this series is the same damn book the last. There is no beginning, there is only a long, long, long, long, extended, drawn out ending. If you don't like my review, compare Edding's works of the Belgariad with original works like Glen Cook's "The Black Company" and Steven Brust's "Jhereg" series. Eddings' characters are far too infallable to be believeable. Run them into something that they can struggle against for a change. "OH NO! THE BAD GUYS ARE COMING." "No problem," Yed replies. "We'll do the same damn thing that we did in the last 4 books, they always fall for it." The lead character travels with kings and gods as his escorts. What opposition is there to throw at him? At least Eddings learned with the sparhawk series to make an enjoyable personality for his lead character, rather than a dry, pompous, bloated little snot-nosed punk that was smothered by the companions that rode with him in order to wipe his nose when he couldn't. (Most of the damn series.)

Summary: second rate fantasy
Review: Although I thoroughly enjoyed this series I feel that Eddings falls short as a leading man in his genre. He oversimplifies everything. I think that he could stand to learn a few things from a one Robert Jordan.

Summary: LOVE IT!
Review: I'm only 13 and I totally love these books. They're the first Fantasy books I ever read that I enjoyed. I can't tell you how much life each character has and how real they become once you read them. Garion definately grows up as you read and you tend to grow up with and relate to him more and more throughout the books. He is definately my favorite in the books. Whenever you're bored just pick up one of them and you won't be bored anymore-you'll be too busy laughing, crying and cheering as you read!

Summary: This is the best tale of a fantasy ever!!!
Review: I just finished this tale of Garion (all ten books of the belgariad and malloreon) and I cant find a better set of books I know I will read them over and over. If you want to talk about the books e-mail me!

Summary: Since I was 12
Review: I read the Belgariad the first time when I was twelve years old. Since them I have read the entire series no fewer than 13 times. Whenever I am at a lack for a good read, I pick up 'Pawn of Prophecy' once more. Years later, and I still haven't lost the magic of Garions journey.

Summary: David Eddings is remarkably fresh with his creative thinking
Review: I began reading Eddings poetic masterpeices of fantasy about eight years ago. I must say that his charecters and their lives will be remembered for the rest of my life. You pick up the book and you can't put it down until you've finished it. He is really that great in his story telling, like Old Wolf in book one. His stories come to life, in full color in your mind. He didn't miss one detail in the charecters life. Eddings is the creative Mozart in novel writting in the 20th century. A real poetic jusice. #1 all the way!!!

Summary: Commercial- but very funny to read
Review: I really like all books in the belgariad serie. It's very commersial, you can see that the authors is more intrested in giving out MANY books than make each book fine. Hovever, it's wery fun to read!

Summary: A Myth to Grow By
Review: If in watching Star Wars you felt a deep connection with Luke Skywalker through his process of growth, you similarly will enjoy the Belgariad. I literally grew up with Garion and the series, and through reading about him and the other characters, learned to broaden my own imagination. The Belgaraid presents a convincing argument for the capacity for heroism latent in every person (sorcery and destiny notwithstanding). The Belgariad is only somewhat superior to the Malloreon in its overall vision and characterizations--the only flaw is how many of the characters' senses of humor sound more and more alike as the series goes on. But I will not deny that that sense of humor happens to be a very likeable one. This is a great series for adults and children--it provides an accessible, engrossing, and inspiring myth to think about.
