Rating: Summary: The Essense of Great Science Fiction Review: I grew up reading Robert Heinlein. When I was a child, I read every single one of his books in my school library. When I ran out of books, I assumed that was it. I knew he was an older man and I assumed he was dead. As an adult, I rediscovered Heinlein, and little did I know, I had unwittingly saved the best for last. The Lazarus series reminded me again, more than 20 years later, how profoundly this man has affected my life. He helped shape my values, stretched my imagination to new limits, taught me to take responsibility for my destiny and completely redefined the possible. I only wish I could have met the man and thanked him personally before he died.
If you're a science fiction fan. This series is absolute MUST reading. Start with "Methuselah's Children" which is the first in the series. It's a little slow at times, but it's laying the groundwork for an enormous tale that will take you through countless generations and many light years of space. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Best Book I've read in a long time! Review: The life of Lazarus Long, the man who refused to die, is by far one of the best science fiction stories ever told. The Grand Master of Science Fiction himself proves to us again that he can captivate his readers with characters so believable you can't wait until the next time you get to see them.Heinlein throws out any pretext of following an organized plot, and instead fills this book with anecdotes, stories, letters that tell of this great man who most certainly had Time Enough For Love. I laughed, I cried, I made certain that I had read the last page of the book, hoping that maybe a couple pages were stuck together. But when I put the book down, I felt deeply satisfied and honored to know Lazarus Long. I will certainly be reading it again.
Rating: Summary: Powerful Review: This i must say is on of heinlins best story since stranger in a strange land. Lots of great charecters that you wish that you got to know outside the book. Wish it was a millions times longer
Rating: Summary: Heinlein's condensed philosophy via Lazarus Long Review: This single book has almost totally defined my personal attitudes about life, politics, family, and the relative importance of mules.
My introduction to the book (and Heinlein) came when Analog magazine ran an excerpt from the "Notebooks." I found the paperback at an airport news stand some time later. I remember that at the end of the summer my brother wandered through the house and found me reading the book for the Nth time. I've always been a bit hard on books (food stains, broken spines, etc), and I was carefully holding the loose pages together while intently following the lives of 'Llita and Joe, Buck and Beulah, Laz and Lor, Ira and Justin and Galahad, and the various members of the Senior's harem. My brother is one of those people who cannot fathom rereading a novel, and demonstrated his displeasure by snatching the book, running to the end of the street, and scattering the pages off a high bank into the Hiawassee River. I had another copy by the end of the day, and I estimate that I've read the book at least once a year for the last twenty-one years.
"Troopers" is more direct in its message, and "Stranger" more uplifting, and a rereading of "Glory Road" causes you to select a likely blade and stay in practice (just in case), but Woodrow Wilson Smith's biography is Heinlein's most prescriptive and all-encompassing book, and to my tastes his best.
Rating: Summary: Heinlein's Best Review: This book remains remarkably applicable regardless of it's copyright date.
That's an indication of great science fiction. No matter how old
it is it seems up to date. Heinlein makes you want to meet Lazarus Long, or think you may already have! Great character development (2000 years worth!) keeps you turning pages. It's one of his best.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book Review: As a follow up to "Methusela's Children", it exceeded its parent. The scene where Dora is dying actually brought tears to my eyes, that is not something that books normally do to me. One of my all time favorites.

Rating: Summary: One of the grand master's best Review: Lazarus Long is probably the greatest science fiction character ever written about. Heinlein has written several novels about him, but this is the largest and it provides much more detail about the life of Lazurus Long. Even though some might not agree with some of Heinlein's views they can still enjoy the great storyline and Heinlein's wonderful writing style. Towards the end of the book, Heinlein creates a situation that makes you just want to be there and join the fun, carefree, and slightly stange family of Lazarus Long
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite books! Review: I could not put this book down! It has everything: suspense, comedy, romance, fantasy, etc. I would recommend it to anyone. It left me amazed at the shear power of Heinlein's writing. I couldn't wait to get my hands on another book about Lazarus Long
Rating: Summary: Reflections on love and the meaning of life Review: The story of an old man who discovers love and mutual respect are the true reasons for wanting to live forever. Heinlein hits you right through the heart and you are changed forever. The best of new-wave sci-fi. Get it
Rating: Summary: One of heinleins best! Review: First in a series of books which include 'Number of the beast-', 'The Cat who Walks Through Walls', and 'To Sail Beyond the Sunset'. These are some of Heinleins best works and include his vues (vius, vus, veus?) on a wide range of issues, but with enough action to keep the stories moving along. A good book for a Heinlein fan but a hard onefor a first time Heinlein reader. P.S. If you read carfully you will identify characters from many previous Heinlein stories. P.P.S. read the series and find out about my username.
