Summary: Is it a downward Spiral?
Review: I read 'Ruin' in about 3 days.I think that is was too short that was my biggest gripe. The other thing is that Han isn't the guy that he used to be.I mean he's there, more like they added him as an afterthought. The Solo kids DO act as though they're adults I agree with the other reviews on that, but they're Jedis as well so you kinda have to have a compromise there.Either make them act mature or make them act as kids so I guess it's laudible.

The New Jedi Order books are kind of ho-hum, but I enjoy them nonetheless. It is about time for a change, a long overdue one at that. The Imperials are finally good-guys, kind of, but Borsk needs to die, somehow, somewhere, he needs to die I mean the guy's only at Ithor because he wants to be known as a 'hero'. Anyways my review, 5 stars, it is good to see change, and I hope the others only get better and better.Episode I, now there was a mistake in a half.Completely devoid of that Star Wars feel.Jar-Jar must die also. See ya

Summary: Getting better....
Review: In the "new jedi oder" story arc, the books are getting better as they continu. Stackpole no longer has to worry about setting things up. He can play off that others have set up. This was a very good book. We find out that the vong are not infalible (or however you spell that.), and some characters that thought that they wouldn't be harmed learned a hard lesson. I think stackpole has this fear or something about writing about mara. It seems like he avoids using her at all costs, though she does make appearences. Though stackpole is a very good writer and his x-wing series was superb, the continued Star Wars saga should be turned over to Timothy Zahn.

Summary: Star Wars Is Back
Review: Of Michael Stackpole, I can really say only one thing - the force is strong with him. Stackpole has almost singlehandedly recharged my interest in the post-Return of the Jedi string of Star Wars novels. The man knows Star Wars, and he seems to have a great passion for telling the stories.

"Ruin" picks up where the previous novel, "Onslaught," left off. For those not following along, the universe has been invaded by evil, brutal, slave- taking, anti-technology warriors who exist outside the force. Our aging but still potent friends from the Star Wars movies must save the day. We actually get very little of Han Solo and the droids, but plenty of Leia, her children, Luke, and Luke's Jedi students. That's fine, for the most part. I rather like the Jedi, but there are points where I started to miss the irreverent Solo.

As with past Stackpole novels, the action is fast and furious, though this is not simply a battle-only novel. Stackpole explores some of the more interesting questions of being a Jedi. Luke and his students repeatedly argue about the role of the Jedi in the war, and whether aggressively attacking the enemy is the dark side. Interesting sidebar, but the novel cuts back into the action before it gets too philosophical.

The bad guys in this novel are quite fascinating, and I enjoyed the scenes told from the perspective of the invasion leader who believes pain is the one constant in the universe. He obviously was forced to watch NBC's "Must See T.V.". These are interesting villains and ominous in their single-minded violence.

While not quite as well-paced as Stackpole's earlier novel, "Ruin" is a strong effort and should appeal to Star Wars fans and keep them anxious for more.

Summary: Still Great
Review: Star Wars fiction has been around for quite a while, and like the older novels, the new ones do not fail to surprise and amaze. Ruin is different than I expected and it had a surprise ending, which was a plus. I don't see how anyone could not like this novel.

Those who criticize this novel look too deep into it and pick out all of the details which they did not like, and turn them into negative comments about the book. The New Jedi Order:Ruin is the newest addition to the Star Wars universe and it is not any worse than any other Star Wars material out there, in fact, it is better than some.

Summary: Good Action and characters
Review: Michael Stackpole wrote a good book. He keeps the action scenes spaced but exciting. He reintroduced Pellaeon and Baron Fel's son. He also helps devolop the Solo kids. Which I like because I have always been a fan of Jacen,Jaina, and Anakin's. I would definitely recommend this book to any Star Wars fan big or small.

Summary: What happens next?
Review: Stackpole did a pretty good job of ending his two-book adventure in the new series of Star Wars books.

However, some scary, not-so-interesting, themes emerged that we all know from earlier installments in the SW universe. One of the Solo-kids being kidnapped, search for super weapons, etc., etc.

I thought we had gotten away from all that!

At any rate, a good read, which leaves a lot of space for the next authors and books being published about the SW universe!

Summary: Jared Gooch
Review: This is by far the most JEDI action filled starwars novel. I love the way each character's strength and weaknesses are addressed. The Vong are a great hybrid of samurai\S&M\evil kind of an enemy, and I really enjoyed the cultural exploration of the Vong. I think the best starwars novels are the ones with plenty of jedi action. Way to go Stackpole! Buy this book! It Rocks!

Summary: A great continuation of the story.
Review: This book has LOTS of action and a pace that really harboured the feel of the origional trilogy. There are lots of tender moments between characters and events that occur that would make a fan cry. I hoped to see more of Han Solo but that is what the next duology is for (Agents of Chaos). It is a great read that I reccomend to any reader who is following the New Jedi Order story arc.

Summary: Non-stop action!
Review: The day the book arrived I had to be out all day and so carried it around with me listening to bits here and there. I would stop at a coffee shop and listen to it for a while longer and then I had to go and do some work as well. Simply put, I could not put this book down. Yes the wait was worth it and boy if the rest of the New Jedi order volumes are going to be like this I might have to stop socializing for a while in order to read them over and over again. The suspense in this one could not be beat and michael Stackpole once again captured the essence of Star Wars. The battles were fantastic, the characters right on and what a duel at the end! My heart was racing overtime! I thoght, Oh no, not him, not Coron! Well, I wont give out any spoilers but the person who begins to read or in this case listen to this book is in for one very thrilling time. Just buy it, find yourself a comfortable chair and hang a "Do not disturb" sighn on your door because you will not want to be drawn away no matter if its work or fun. In addition, Hats off to Anthony Heald who does such an excellent job in narrating these books; he entertains me every time.

Summary: Dark Tide II : Ruin
Review: This was a good book. But why was it so short? Like the other people have mentioned we waited forever, but it was short. Stackpole, in my opinion, does a great job of describing some characters. (The Solo kids) But he really needed to try harder on Mara Jade. For such a lively character, she seemed really quiet. Finially in the end, the fall of Corran horn was upsetting, he is a great character, and I would like to see more of him. Last thing, I hope Michael A. Stackpole comes back to write more Star Wars soon, he is great at writng this.
