Summary: SO glad it's over.... but it's not
Review: I review SFF for a series of college publications, and so am forced to finish trilogies and series that I thought stunk from the beginning. While some [and I stress the word SOME] of the ideas in thie series have interesting beginnings, the writing is so bad, and the characters so genuinely unlikeable, that it is hard to give a good damn what happens to any of them. The names are childish in their sound, and the silly prophecy which they are following has no interesting twists to the outcome, so it was basically as dumb at the end as it was at the beginning. Sarah Douglass is a mediocre writer, fine for producing potboilers like this, but otherwise not worthy of note.

Summary: Great!
Review: I thought that this book was one of the best I have ever read. I can't wait for the caleum starson trilogy to come out! I have looked all over for it but I guess its not out yet. One can only wait. I hope its just as good as the starman trilogy.

Summary: Book 3 of 6 keeps us hanging!
Review: I wanted to make sure everyone knew that this book is NOT the end of the full story! Three more books remain in this set - Sinner, Pilgrim, and Crusader. They just haven't been released in the US yet, but you can buy them in paperback from Amazon.Com's UK division.

This full story ranks as my favorite all-time fantasy set. Can't say enough good things about it!

Summary: Unsympathic Main Characters
Review: I was significantly disappointed by the conclusion to the series. I definately got the impression the author was tired of the universe and just trying to end it.

More distressing to me was the attitude of the main characters toward their children. Axis and Azhure seemed to just give up on them without even trying. Axis's treatment of his half-brother was horrendus, and for no good reason. Also, the elimination of an two entire species with no prick from their conscience. Also, Axis seems to take no responsibility for any of his actions.

The grammar was poor, and the plot weak. The author got the characters out of every jam with another magic device. Everytime there was a problem, oops look, I have another major power and can fix it. The defeats of the villians were just too pat.

On the positive side, the relationships between the characters was well-developed, and well handled. Tencendor is a remarkable world.

The ending just comes too abruptly. You definately get the impression that the series was supposed to go on for longer. Several storylines are just left hanging, or tied up poorly. all in all a disappointing ending.

Summary: Hmmm...
Review: I'm not sure. Not first-rate in my opinion, but definitely a decent conclusion to the (first US) series. The character-character emotional interactions were captivating, if somewhat incredible. Perhaps the best aspect to Starman was the overall sense of glory and beauty of the land and of the races. The writing, while neither verbose nor heavy with detail, successfully paints the story in distinct images and vivid colors. However, certain parts I found a bit...corny, hinting at a slightly younger target audience, though the romantic situations blatantly counter this. The battles scenes were generally played down, and I am sure that I would have appreciated a more structured (or at least more described and detailed) magic system. Nonetheless, Starman is an interesting read due to its unique balance of fantasy and romance.

Summary: How can this book get a positive review?
Review: Ok, the first book in the series wasn't bad, though a bit lacking in imagination.. The second book was so formulated that there was simply no surprise and no dramatic tension.. But I am on of those rare fools who simply must finish a series once I start it, so I waded on through the third book. It took me two months to finish it (I normally read two to three books of this size a week) because I had to keep putting it down and reading something else to purge my mind: The book is over-melodramitic to the point of Harlequin (without all the porn); like the second book so predictable that there is no dramatic tension, extremely repetitive, especially in the case of stating emotion that Douglass lacks the skill to show; and worst of all it is poorly edited! The book is rife with PUNCTUATION ERRORS for God's sake! It's like the editor was so bored by the book he missed the odd five-hundred run on sentences. I give it one star only because the system does not allow less.

Summary: Kills the time
Review: Passes the time but isn't any sort of ground breaking work. If you don't have a lot of time don't waste it here, but if you devour fantasy give it a try.

Summary: Prophecy Fulfilled!
Review: Sara Douglas has outdone herself in this sweeping conclusion to her Axis trilogy. In Starman, you will watch in awe as Axis and Azhure fulfill the prophecy of destroying axis half-brother, the evil monster Gorgrael.Douglas's skills as a world-builder are more evident in this novel as she describes the beauty of her world. The battle scenes in this book are a wonder to behold as you see Axis and his army with the sorcerous help of his wife,Azhure decimate Gorgrael's army of Skaelings and gryphons.Plot twists in this novel are also great as Wolfstar, the cunning iscaii sorcerer manipulates Axis and Gorgrael and twists the prophecy for his own ends. Axis must not only contend with his nemesis, Gorgrael but also with his ruthless baby son, dragonstar who seeks to kill his own brother Caelum to become firstborn and treachery from Timozel who now leads Gorgrael's army! Douglass's unforgettable series with all of it's magic, color, wonder and spectacle pales in comparison to the heart-tugging conclusion as one character will sacrifice herself so Axis can defeat Gorgrael. I look forward to Sara Douglass's next series because I prophecy to make: She will be a force to reckon with in the fantasy genre!

Summary: This is probably the best fantasy series I have ever read!!!
Review: Sara Douglass, Australian and brilliant! The Axis Trilogy and the Wayfarer Redemtion Trilogy is quite incredible, its rich in tapestry and enthrallingly epic! Here in Canada we have the entire series, so I have read all of them! Unfortunately, they are not all published yet in the states (I think!?) so I am unable to give this review on the concludling volume CRUSADER.
Whoever wrote that this series was boring at best, and poorly written at worst has no idea of the talent that this woman posesses. To me, it is always fun to go back and visit Axis and his love for Faraday, but his commitment to Azhure. Even Wolfstar is a character which draws so much interest to the story. Whoever has a brain, and a love for fantasy, these two series (Called the Wayfarer Redemption in America) will love this incredible story, and a prophesy that I, at least wish was a part of! (just to take me away from my mundane life!)
Hurry up and read these books!!!
