Review: This book shows the life a young boy who Impressed the only white dragon ever on Pern. McCaffery shows the struggle of how the Lord Holder and his dragon, Ruth, try to play the roll of both Dragonrider and Lord Holder. I loved how Anne showed that anything can happen on Pern, even new kinds and colors of dragons, and anyone can suddenly have their life changed.

Review: Fantastic book. Definately a must read. You really should read the other books in Anne McCaffrey's series. Very fast moving, with a great plot. Good character development, and action-packed. Again, a must read for fantasy readers!

Review: This book was one of the first that I encountered of Anne McCaffrey. I couldn't read it right away thought because mom said I had to read the other 2 before it (go figg), but I fell in love with it by the time I finnished the first chapter. Some people might think that it draggs on for a wile but it is just setting you up for the next books to come. A MUST read!!
