Rating: Summary: This is the Best Book ever! Review: It is my favorite of Anne McCAffrey's books. It's about this boy who saves the life of this little white dragon and Impresses it. They both have a hard time after that but everything turns out all right in the end.
Rating: Summary: The White Dragon Review: There has never been a dragon like Ruth in Pern. Small and white, beautiful in his own way, capable of attracting the small fire-lizards and talk to them. And he belongs to Lord Jaxom, now almost 18 Turns and full of a wish to fight Thread, a wish he is starting to believe might not come soon. But his special relationship with his dragon will brighten his soul, and will reveal hidden secrets of the Acients, the ones who first colonized Pern. And when the Oldtimers start to plot against the Northern Weyrs and Holds, all seems lost. What is the word that cries in the sky? Dragon against Dragon? Jaxom and faithful Ruth will find themselves in the middle of Pern's salvation...I loved, adored and <add other praising adjectives here> this book. And I could not put it down. I read it in a few hours in the night and during the next day. I could not put it down. The relationship between Jaxom and Ruth is amazing and if you ever felt you could love a dragon, Ruth is certainly a wonderful candidate for your friendship and respect. Once thought not to survive his first Turn, this small white dragon showed everybody of what he was made. One of the best on this series I have read but since I haven't read many I cannot really say much. Just that this one touched my heart... like the others... and my imagination. One feels like dreaming... and ride on a dragon's back...
Rating: Summary: Good book Review: I have to start by saying that the first two books are better, but you need to read this if you started the series. It starts off slow with the construction of the Cave Hold and Jaxon's illness. The series makes sure to keep up reasons why dragonmen must remain alive on Pern. You can feel yourself in the series aback a great dragon and fighting thread. That imagery comes thru and is very alive.
Rating: Summary: A really good book! Review: I thought this book was quite good. Ruth the dragon is so sweet. He's clever, witty, and very human. He's one of the best parts of the book. Jaxom is really NOT my favorite person. Another review said that Sharra and Sebell were just stuck in for Jaxom and Menolly, well I disagree. If you've read the Harper Hall series(if you haven't I highly recommend it)then you know where Sebell came from. Sharra was sort of stuck in. I really don't like Sharra and all I can say is she and Jaxom deserve each other. This was an overall good book and if you've read the rest of this series I suggest this book. Even though I gave four stars I think it is quite a book.
Rating: Summary: One of my very favorite of the dragon books Review: McCaffrey's books about Pern are among my favorites -- and this is one of the best. Ruth is an unforgettable character. This book captures so well the dragonrider-dragon relationship that is central to the Pern books.
Rating: Summary: The White Dragon Review: This book and the ones before it aswell as after it are very well done. Sometimes I feel like i am rideing on Ruth and the other dragons saveing Pern from Thred. I can't wait to read more of them!
Rating: Summary: I Love Dragons Review: This was my first book of this type. I enjoyed it very much. I was attracted to this book because of the cover. It comes up everytime I boot up. I liked how Ruth grew and became a proper dragon. All of his and Jaxon's adventures were exciting. I am going to read all the books about dragonriders. It would be great if we could really ride dragons. I would reccommend this book to any reader.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite Anne McCaffrey books! Review: I have read all 4 of the books in the Lessa/F'lar series( Dragonflight, Dragonquest, The White Dragon, and The Dragonriders of Pern) and this one is probably my favorite. I love how Jaxom really needs Ruth, probably more than the other dragonriders need their dragons. It was a wonderful book on all accounts, not to mention the fact that we finally get to see what Fax's heir is like grown-up.
Rating: Summary: This is an awesome book! One of McCaffrey's best! Review: This is a book for anyone who like to go "Oh my God. I figured it out before it happened!!!" By this, I don't mean it's simple to follow and completely predictable. I mean, if you like to put a little thought in what you're reading, this is the book for you. Anne McCaffrey has perfectly captured the relations of travelling through time. This spell binding book is going to draw you in and not let you out! I was reading this book and i just couldn't stop. If you like dragons, Anne McCaffrey's writing and pondering how things would happen as a result to time travel, this is the book for you!!!
