Summary: The most refreshing book I've read yet.
Review: Two things, unbelieveable style and unbelieveable plot, make an unbelieveable book. Myst : Book of Atrus has all (maybe more) of this. This book take you from the mists of a ruined civilizaton, to the betrayal of one woman, and to the youth that would drive the fate of the D'ni people to their final destiny. It is a ride of betrayal and intrigue that chains the book to you, and gives you more than what you paid for. The illistrations and the typeset add a touch of reality, as if you were really reading from a journal. I recommend that you get this book fast, because you don't know what you're missing.

Summary: Don't miss this!
Review: Fans of the game Myst can now learn more than they ever dreamed about the history behind Myst island. Besides the fact that the cover and pages are unique and beautiful, the story itself pulls you in until the very last sentence. Leaves you hungering for more. Love Myst? Read this!

Summary: Ahhh, now I get it!
Review: After having played "Myst" and beginning to play "Riven", I discovered the "Myst" novels. I began reading "The Book of Atrus" and just couldn't put it down. The writing of this book was just as beautiful as the graphics in the game, perhaps even more so. The pictures painted with the words draw such wonderful scenes in one's imagination!

The story of Atrus was just as intriguing as the game of "Myst". Some parts of the game just never clicked with me before I read this book. I found myself saying, "Ahhhh, now I get it!" as I discovered the history behind the characters. What a wonderful adventure for the mind this book was! It is not only a must-read for any "Myst" game fans, but a great story to read even for those who've never played the game.

Summary: Best book I've read yet
Review: This book is amazing. The CD-ROM game that Rand and Robyn created was brilliant, but it lacked the history that everyone wondered about. This book gives you that history, along with some very nicely done drawings to help you visualize what the settings look like(only in hardcover). I don't generally like to read for fun, or at least I didn't, until I read this book. Before, it would take me 1-2 months to read a book because I never really got interested in one. But this one I read in four days. I just couldn't put it down. Very nicely done. Leaves you rushing to the book store to get the next one in the series.

Summary: The BEST!
Review: "The Book of Atrus" is definitely the most incredible book I have ever read. The Art and the D'ni people are truly amazing. As are all the worlds they created. The story itself does an excellent job of answering your questions about Myst, and then raising a few more. I especially enjoyed the parts about Atrus's relationship with his father Gehn, how they came to D'ni and K'veer, and how and why Myst was created. The Miller brothers are geniuses. The story of Myst is a unique and unforgettable one that will be told and re-told for many years to come.

Summary: The best book I ever read!
Review: This book starts off slow but gets so interesting, you can't put is down! It is also VERY visual. When it is read, it's like you are right there, not just reading words on a page. If you played Myst or Riven you will better understand the game after you read it. It explains all the things that you just have to guess about. In fact, after I got done with the book, I was dissapointed that it couldn't go on forever! In all, I recommend this book to everyone and after you read it you will believe me.

Summary: I stand corrected
Review: When my boyfriend first bought me the game MYST, I laughed at him, telling him I was too old for videogames. Of course, 5 minutes into the game and I was hooked. My reaction was similiar when he got me "The Book of Atrus": what could be more pathetic than reading a book based on a computer game? But it doesn't read like that at all. I had to remind myself it wasn't classic literature-- it has the feel of an ancient tribal myth, a very mystical quality running through the whole book. I loved it, and find myself searching bookstores for the next one.
