Summary: Disappointing
Review: Great ideas like the writing of worlds, great settings like de D'ni underground city, characters with a lot of potential... but the writing style is awful, nothing really ever happened in the book, jump like a frog in the rain, too much emphasis in stupid little details, and a fairy tale ending. I dind't like it. Its a real shame because the book hardcover is beautiful. A book to put in a shelf, nothing more.

Summary: MYST was the best book I have ever read!
Review: I think that Myst was an excellent book, in the light that it explained the game a whole lot better. I hope that the other two books are as good as the first one!

Summary: Beyond the Mind's Eye....
Review: This book goes into the depths of the farthest reaches of our untouched minds. Reading this book, you are drawn into your own world....you feel the suspense when Gehn is present, you feel the love when Catherine and Atrus are together, and you feel the horror as Atrus jumps into the fissure. And the ending....you crave more. The ending has not yet been written. With this book, you do not just reach out....you feel. Touch. MYST is a whole other world...and brings a new meaning to books. For those of you who want more, you crave more, who would do anything for imagination, read this book. You'll be blown away.

Summary: A well paced adventure for every reading interest!
Review: I thought the entire structure of the book was well written with believeable characters and settings. It was one of the few books that I had to read in one sitting after I got started. Blew all my plans for that day!

Summary: Great Book!
Review: Although it is confusing at times, the myst book is great

Summary: The Age of Beginings.
Review: Myst: The Book of Atrus takes place before the game of Myst. This is the story of how young Atrus discovered how to write Ages, learns of his past, and builds for his future. This is one of the best books I have ever read. If you have played the game, you have to get this book. Each step that you take in the book hints at the future we already know from playing the game. Each time Atrus steps into a new Age you are taken there with him. The mixture of science and story telling make for a very entertaining read. I swear you will not be disappointed.

Summary: An excellent, easy to read book for anyone.
Review: This was an excellent book, though fairly simple to read. It might be strange for anyone unfamiliar with the computer games, but still interesting. Further, it was an excellent companion to the computer gemes Myst and Riven. I would recommend it to anyone who wants something easy yet interesting to read.

Summary: A Necessity for RIVEN players
Review: Even for those people who have played MYST, many people don't understand the significance of Riven and why it plays a very large part in Atrus's life. The Books of Atrus is really the prequel to MYST and I believe it is the perfect companion if you play Riven. If you read the Book of Atrus, it will help you to understand more of the game of Riven. I read the Book of Atrus right after it came out, and I can't imagine playing Riven without it. Not only is it helpful to fully understand the MYST games, it's also a wonderful story.

Summary: Very good as a supplement to the games
Review: "Myst: The Book of Atrus" serves very nicely as a supplement to the games "Myst" and "Riven," nicely filling in parts of the story that the games leave out. It also works, though, as a stand-alone story -- I have to admit, the idea of travel through books (literally, not figuratively) is quite original, and very appealing. This, along with the other two "Myst" books, augments the games well; the writing style seems to come from the same mind that created the game (actually, it did.) "The Book of Atrus" serves better as a gudie to the beginning of Riven, because Myst's appeal was in its mystery (hence the name "Myst.") A better overview to the entire Myst/Riven universe is the "Book of Ti'ana," wherein is told the story of the fall of mighty D'ni. Overall, this book rates an eight -- I recently gave Tolkien's "The Hobbitt" a ten, and while a good piece of fantasy, "The Book of Atrus" just doesn't match up to that sort of competition.

Summary: Myst: The Book of Atrus, is a wonderful book.
Review: This book is the beginning of an excellent series that vividly describes the worlds of Myst and Riven. It is wonderfull and I recommend it to everyone!
