Summary: A new point of veiw on an old argument.
Review: Forward has a lot of great ideas. The only thing I wish she would have done more on was the end. She just sort of left her characters there. I wanted and epilogue! I want to know what happens with Sam and Kaylana! Oh well. I guess that she wanted to keep her audience guessing. Forward's novel is full of twists and turns and has one of the most ironic endings I've ever seen. I'd better not give it away though. Her characters are a mixture of your tipical villains and good guys. Especially Sam. If you've ever read David Eddings' Belgariad or Malorean you'd like this book. Mainly because the main character, Sam, is a lot like a cross between Silk and Garion. Though Forward uses a lot of the more stereotypical elements of fantasy, her unique plot twists and point of view make up for that. I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fantasy or wants a new twist on things.

Summary: Just fantastic
Review: Golly, so much to say about this book, and so little time. Well, first off, it was a wonderful twist on the usual good-going-off-to-battle-evil storyline, and showing interesting reprecussions of that particular storyline as well. So, take the plot, an interesting twist on an old (good vs evil) concept, and you've got the makings for a great story. Now, onto characters. I have read hundreds of books in my day, and, with the exception of Kaylana (and I believe she was supposed to be like that, too), I have never read a more likable cast of characters. Forward did some real character development, again, giving the usual one-dimensional bad guys depth- the heartsick, black-clad blond assassin, who kinda of likes rhymes, for example, and the dark sorceress who saw her family brutally murdered at the hands of heroes, simply for being what they were. Interesting, interesting, I say. A great book. I just finished reading it for the sixth time.

Summary: Better Than The Hobbit
Review: I am a very hard core fantasy/sci-fi book reader. I have read many books that are out there. Most people I talked to would agree that "The Hobbit" set a standard in fantasy writting. However, most people still agreed with me after reading "Villains By Necessity". This book has many exciting features. It has to be the best ever fantasy book. The story it tells is one that, most people would agree with, should happen in a fantasy story. With everything that gets said about fantasy. The winning of one side, good or evil, never gets told. That has changed with this book. I believe in the future this will become the book that replaces "The Hobbit", and many others as "The Classic".

Summary: This book is my bible!
Review: I delayed getting this book for awhile and that was the biggest mistake of my life. I loved it! I recommended it to my friend and she loved it too. We now live by this book. We have always been followers of evil and we're glad that this book makes evil glamorous. The characters are great, well developed and funny. The plot is enjoyable and easy to get into to. One complaint, however, is the ending (all I can say is Sam could've made a better choice). All in all it is a great book which I would highly recommend to anyone interested in evil.

Summary: Very Fun
Review: I enjoyed this book, a lot. I don't rate it 5 stars in comparison to the "high fantasy" of Martin or Jordan I usually read, but on its own merits as a stand-alone. It's got a pleasant twist on the idea, and for me the idea isn't so much that evil has a place -- but that evil isn't so evil. Okay, so Sam's an assassin. Almost anyone would call killing people for money an evil profession. Doesn't mean he's not noble and doesn't have standards.
By the same token, good isn't so good. Nobody's ever perfectly pure of motive and such. Chivalry? Big deal. Most of the knights were out to profit and for glory. Heck, good people can get right down to some nasty things. You don't have to be "evil" to do nasty things to people -- even the most normal, "neutral" man might someday kill someone, which is perceived as evil, because he's just been pushed to it by circumstances.
I like the characters. Valerie's a great example of the ethical and moral crisis of the fantasy cliche. "Go out and kill the orcs because they're evil!" Well, what about the mothers who do nothing but raise and protect their children? What about the children? What about the farmers and scholars and holy men? I come to think of Blackmail the dark knight as one of my favorite characters by the end, by the quality of his character more than anything else. Sam and Arcie are just trying to get by in the roles they ended up in. Sam had as much control over it as he had over who his father was, in the end. Robin was just silly but a good example put in to show how someone can change and help realize the "rightness" or necessity of evil.

Summary: Great book, couldn't put it down.
Review: I found this book to be funny and extremely ironic. Finally someone showed the world what life was like after Sauron was destroyed and there was nothing but happiness and light. This book also illustrated the "evil" of goodness. Good simply couldn't coexist with evil. It must hunt it, and it is as cruel as it's prey. Wonderful novel, I just hope my friends give me back my copy so I can read it again.

Summary: This is one of the best books I have ever read
Review: I have not read any other books by Forward, but after I read this book, I am going to try to read all of her other work.

Summary: The best book of all time
Review: I love Villians by Nessessity. I've read it so many times the words have rubbed off the back cover and the pages are louse.
This book is hillarious, the charesters are multi- dimentional, the plot has no holes, and the story is absorbing. It's the first book I recomend to my friends who read fantasy. It can be looked at as a comentary, poking fun at clishe' themes of fantasy, I mean, they are on a mission to bring Evil back to a world purged of darkness. This is the book I read when I want to enjoy something farmilier adn good. If you like, "Split Heirs" I can't remember who it's by, or Patrica C. Wrede or Kristine Kathrine Rusch you'll like it a lot, Foreward writes kinda like Norton too, she's wonderful! yeah! I hope you read it!
