Rating: Summary: It's only entertainment but I like it, pt. 2 Review: In fact, why should I review this book when I've already posted my opinion of the first book of the Tamuli, and there's no difference whatsoever between these two epics. Well, let's just say that in The Shining Ones, the characters keep wandering around cracking brilliant jokes and smashing the bad guys up. Nothing could go wrong with this recipe, and nothing also goes. But it's a bit questionable if anything goes in the right direction either. There are far worse ways of spending time, and of course anyone that likes DE's style will have to read this series.
Rating: Summary: Eddings should have stayed with the Belgariad/Mallorean. Review: It's not good enough to be satisfying ,there is too little action and too much politics and i hate politics. The three stars i give are going out to Sparhawk and Kalten.they are the only ones who make me laugh(a little).I'm not going to read book nr.3
Rating: Summary: Not Bad. Review: Not the best of the series (that honor belongs to The Hidden City), but a good book overall. While I didn't like Sephrenia's bigotry near the middle, I realize that it creates a gaping window into her history and her character. I hope that he might continue the adventures of this troupe in another series.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books out there today! Review: The Shining Ones by David Eddings is a New York Times best seller published by Del Ray Fantasy. This book is about a Padion Knight named Sparhawk who travels all over his world with his loyal companions. His traveling companions consist of the child goddess Aphrael, Queen Ehlana, Talen a young knight (a thief in his own time), Sephrenia (a Sytric Socceress), Khalad (Sparhawk's Squire), Tynian, Ulath, Kalten, Biver (who are all Padion Knights from different orders), and Mirtiai a giantess just to name a few. Oh, and a couple thousand soldiers. These people must fight many strange creatures such as Trolls, Drawn-Men, and long dead soldiers raised from the grave. They must also learn about the elusive and mysterious "Shining Ones". Here is a quote from this wonderful book. "That fog's moving straight toward us, and it's bringing the light with it. I don't like the feel of this, Sparhawk," Kalten said, drawing his word. The glowing fog-bank divided and flowed around the hill upon which they stood. And as it drew near, Sparhawk could make out the shapes of bodes within the blur of light. Sehrenia shrieked, "Defiled ones! Foul and accursed!" But the lights in the fog never faltered as they continued their glowing, inexorable advance. "Run! Run for your lives! It's the Shining Ones!" You won't put this book down. It is so suspenseful that you will be sucked into it until you are finished with the story. If you do not like suspense, action, plot twists, and magic don't read this book. All in all this is just plain a great book. You should definitely go out and get your own copy.
Rating: Summary: Oh my god it's so slow! Review: This book as an OK story if you can stand reading it long enough to get to some of the good parts. All they do for most of the time is talk about strategies and the past and other boring topics that sometimes don't even matter. The jokes aren't even funny in this book. I've read some good books by David Eddings but this is DEFINITELY not one of them.
Rating: Summary: The best book I've read Review: This book is full of adventure and fun. A great book for ages 13 and up
Rating: Summary: A good book, not super great, but worth reading, Review: This book was about adventure and love, er, friendship. Eddings catpured manny views of wizardry, honor, and intelect. This was a good book, and it IS worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Another great one from Eddings! Review: This series is not as good as the belgariad but is still great
Rating: Summary: A Great book!! Review: This was the first book of David Eddings that I read, and it started me onto his writing right away. A wonderful plot, there wasn't a slow part in the whole story. To those people who said this book was awful, what were you THINKING? Congradulations on a great book, Mr. Eddings!
Rating: Summary: It is great and so is the writter Review: To all you people who kept on saying that this book wasn't as good as his last books your right it didn't have the same exciting story but if you had just written a ton of great books like Eddings has you would slack off a bit too if it was one of your lastn series as for the book I have seen better but usually those better books were written by authors in either the start of the wrighters carrer or in the middle not at the end. dear Mr. Eddings I don't know if you will ever see this but comming from an extremely devoted fan I LOVE YOUR BOOKS! This book was part of a terrific story.
