Summary: Best "near futur SF" ever !
Review: There is no better book concerning the near futur. Not onely are Williams visions very plausibe and accurate, he has also a great writing style and a fabulous imagination. He used parts of almost any worlds culture. And most important, the story, the heroes itself are simply great. Even if you dont like SF, this book is a "must have". Read and enjoy !

Summary: The most amazing fantasy novel since Tolkien.
Review: If a reader is able to survive the first 100 pages of Vol I (City of golden shadow), the imaginative abilities of Tad Williams are almost beyond comprehension. He investigated into every major folklore of humankind to develop his plot. And his vision of virtual realitity's future might well become possible one day. I compare it in vision to George Orwell's 1984. A must - all 3 volumes!

Summary: The Acorn Lands Far From The Tree
Review: This is an incredible story. It is rich in prose dialogue characters. It is an awesome work witch will keep you coming back.(This is not good during midterms). Williams conotiunes the story that is both a incredible fantasy. But, is frightenly real when you begin to think of what may happen in the future. This series is incredible. Not only has it been able to be original. Williams has been able to keep clear of turning his works into a set fromula. Keep up the good work.

Summary: most exciting yet!
Review: I've read good fantasy stories here and there but nothing that has captured me like this series. Well written to say the least. I particulay enjoyed Mountain. Many answers were given. Although, many questions arose. Which makes this book so fun to read. Hope this guy won't take to long to getting to the next one.

Summary: Solid Writing And Powerful Imagery Make For Good Story
Review: MoBG is the third volume in the Otherland saga, and I actually enjoyed it even more than the first two books in this series. Williams combines his usual terrific writing skills with some fabulous visual images of different worlds taken from ancient folklore, such as Egypt and ancient Greece. I especially liked the fact that, while there are many more secrets to be revealed in the final volume of Otherland, some information is finally disclosed to the reader and there is a climax of sorts at the end of the volume. I actually enjoyed the ending immensely, though I can understand if others were mystified by it. Of course, Williams has a Herculean task with the fourth novel, Sea of Silver Light. I counted at least twelve developing subplots without answers yet, and so I'm hoping that Williams doesn't fail to provide a great finish to this powerful and exciting series, as so many other fantasy writers have failed to do in the past. Of course, it goes without mention that you must read the first two volumes in this series to understand this book. Ignore the Kirkus review above, unless you really have a problem with reading books over 400 pages. However, if you like detail, well-developed characters, and powerful visual images, then you must read this book. It's the best fantasy novel I've read in the last two years. Here's hoping that Williams finishes Otherland on the same roll!

Summary: Another fabulous book. More. Please. Soon.
Review: This is a great book!

This installment really moves the story and characters forward. As much as I don't want it to end I like having my questions answered, especially if it raises several more in the process. Wicked-good ending. Oh, wait, that's going to be the beginning... good thing!

I like the way the story ebbs and flows. The tempo changes within the book and between volumes; each one has. It adds texture to the different flavours within the story. I have a better sense of real-time perspective within this story than any other book I've read. This is so many stories within one book, length is not a problem for Tad but a virtue. Complexity is not a problem, it's the point. I hope he is getting paid by the word because he earns it. I can't wait for the next 650+ pages. The nice thing about Tad's Otherland books is that I have so much to think about while I wait.

Summary: Is Tad payed by the word???
Review: This story has been great so far but I have a life. There is a name for this style of writing, it's called PADDING!!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent! Recommend to all fantasy lovers.
Review: I won't reiterate what others have written other than to say that this book is fabulous and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The continuation of this story was very well written, and I enjoyed the complete descriptions of the few simulations visited in this novel. To anyone new to this series: read the preceeding two first, or you will be completely lost! As Tad wrote in the first novel, this series was formulated really as one big story, but practicality prohibited it from being published as such (though I would LOVE to read a 3500 pg. book sometime!) Enjoy!
