Summary: if you don't like ebooks, don't read them!
Review: i love ylesia and i love ebooks! this is an incredibly short little snippet in the njo series and provides a brief burst of entertainment. the action is great, not essential to the overall series but an excellent bonus.

additionally, i don't understand why everyone would buy an ebook and then complain about it. it is what it is, and i don't read any other kind of book! buy this and read it!

Summary: A little snack of a book
Review: I thought Ylesia was a bit short, but action packed. This is my first e-book and I dig the concept. It's a perfect travel book; just a bit of an appetizer to get you through the wait for the next NJO book. On the technology front, I think the Mac folks are so caught up in their OS war that they failed to see that there is an Adobe Reader version of this book, too. Last time I checked Adobe ran on Mac.

Summary: Would like to read
Review: I'd really like to read this book but since it is hostile to all non PC non microsoft users I guess I won't. As with all things from Lucas (such as software) they pander to microsoft first even though they create the stuff on Macs.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Good Story, but short
Review: It was a good story, and fits into the NJO series, but is not needed if your read the other books. Nothing major is disclosed. You learn a little more about Thackren Solo and the Peace Bridge.

Summary: Beware!!! Your e-book timebombed??
Review: It was my first e-book. Found it easy to read and the quality was on a par with the rest of series. If you've read this far you certainly know what to expect.

NOWHERE obvious though does it say though that after a certain time you won't be able to access the book to reread it! I waited a year for Destiny's Way to come out in paperback. Time to read Ylesia again I thought. Despair as the supposed "free" Adobe e-book reader keeps on bleating about "voucher updates" and then crashing itself if you try to perservere. Tried downloading it again. No difference. Pursue it with Adobe on the web and you end up with a world wide list of phone numbers.

Is this what you want to pay for? Any time I wish to reread any other in the series I just walk over to bookshelf and then settle back in the comfy chair. I will look for another brand of e-book reader. If I can't read my book now then what choice do I have other than to be wary and scream []

Summary: Don't pay for this book
Review: My first comment is that the e-book format is so inferior to a real book that at this point they're not worth buying. I found the reader almost impossible to load, and what you get is far less than a real book -- you can't lend, donate, copy or write your name in your "book". Be clear that what you get is the right to read, NOT a book, these are not the same thing.

My second comment is that the story here is awful. It's an excerpt, an episode, and not a good one, with all the flaws of the Jedi series, and none of the charm. From incredible character lapses (a Jedi smashes heads together as part of a fight, Jag Fel who doesn't like public displays of affection rubs Jaina's feet in a public room, Jaina the brilliant tactician somehow doesn't see how a simple fly-over attack can work safely and is "rescued" by Jag -- patronizing, too) to storytelling gaffs (Jag surprising Jaina in her room -- so how did he get in, and how do you surprise a Jedi?), the whole thing is a mountain of errors and bad characterization, living on violence (usually excessive) with nothing to add to the series as a whole.

The worst part to me is that they're selling, for good money, material that is patently not worth publishing as a "real" book, which seems like a lousy idea longterm from every point of view (makes me think twice about buying a book I can't flip through first). I'm really sorry that the publisher, and Williams, got a dime from me.

Summary: Not a Bad Little Story
Review: Not too bad for my first e-book purchase. While not an entire novel, there's plenty going on in this exciting, action packed adventure. It's mainly a story of the twins, Jaina and Jacen, as they help lead a raid on Ylesia to capture the leaders of the Peace Brigade.

Setting wise, it takes place somewhere in the middle of "Destiny's Way" when Jacen and Jaina are assigned (volunteer in Jacen's case) to Admiral Kay'frey's (I botched that spelling, I'm sure) fleet. What they see as an easy conquest turns into a fight for their lives as they end up facing Vong forces they didn't count on.

Jacen is quickly becoming one of the more interesting characters of the NJO and it's no different here as he tries to find his place in the battle with the Vong. Jaina is still a little steely edged, but she's not so bad here as she was in Destiny's Way and her dialogue with Jag Fel is fun.

This is really a nice diversion to help satisfy that NJO thirst in between novels. It's fun, action packed, and has a bit of drama and humor thrown in for good measure. You could do worse than download this baby and spend a morning zipping through it.

Summary: Ebook Scam
Review: Of the whole series in the New Jedi Order, this book is the most worthless. Nothing happens of any significance, the characters do nothing, the Vong do nothing. Nothing, Nothing, nothing...and what do you expect from somthing 90 pages long. It takes longer to find the book in the online store than it does to read it. They call it a book, but its just a SHORT STORY. I recommend--DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Go to the next REAL book in the series.
