Rating: Summary: A Winner! Review: Frankly, this is the best book Feist has ever written. He can write great series (Riftwar etc.) But this is one incredible piece of fantasy. BUY IT!
Rating: Summary: Wow. I mean it! Review: I don't know how this book could be rated 4 stars, it totally deserves 5! This book had me on the edge of the seat the whole time. This book is one of the best I've ever read. And that's saying something because I've read alot of books. The way Feist captures every detail, I can clearly see what he's describing in my head. No fantasy fan should be without THe Kings Buccaneer! I loved It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A good book with every emotion present. Review: I ended the book last night and while I read the last lines of the book, the entire story came back to me, and I noticed a tear from my eyes. Now I'm nineteen years old and I read only fantasy and I can only admit that together with "lord of the rings" this is the only book I feld horrible. Because something happened, and the reader simpely doesn't want this to happen. I read the books in dutch, cause I started the magician in dutch and I automaticly read the rest in dutch. I'm gonna start on "shadow of a dark queen" today. And I can advice everyone who like's fantasy and hasn't read feist yet, go read him! for he is the best. cause he write's with magic, or maybe it's just a little trick. Nakur.
Rating: Summary: A fun and fresh look into the world of Midkemia Review: I found this to be one of Feist's best works since Magician. Once again, outstanding character development along with a story that simply rocks from page to page. One of the few books I have read that I tried to pace myself with because I didn't want it to end. Highly recommended.....even someone unfamiliar with the Riftwar saga would enjoy this book greatly!
Rating: Summary: This is his best, but read on... Review: I had read the Riftwar, Serpentwar, and Riftwar Legacy series before sitting down to read the King's Buccaneer and its sister book, Prince of the Blood. I can say by far that for Feist fans and literature enthusiasts in general, this book is this author's most well-connected and inventive tale. While many of the other books focus on the adventure or action elements of whatever story they tell, the King's Buccaneer revolves around the inner demons of one young boy, Prince Nicholas. You cheer on not his strength in battle like Erik von Darkmoor, or the victories in magic of Pug, but rather you revel in the triumph of his soul. The King's Buccaneer is an excellent starter book for those looking for a first dip into fantasy, or even a dyed-in-the-wool genre junkie who wants to try out this author for the first time. If you haven't read Feist before, or just want a not-so-traditional adventure tale, pick up this novel, and you'll get all you wanted and more.
Rating: Summary: The King's Buccaneer Review: I have read the entire Rift-War and Serpent-War sagas and I found this book to be the best among the series. If you can only read one book in the series, make it this one. It can stand alone among the series but it also sets up the entire Serpent-War saga as it introduces the reader to the continent of Novindus and the woman who becomes the Emerald Queen.
Rating: Summary: *ralph* Review: I loved the RiftWar Saga. I had a vacation coming up. I needed to take a book. I took this book. I wish I hadn't. For anyone who is considering purchasing this atrocity, I will sum up everything that happens in the book right here, so you don't have to spend money or time. Person A: Oh, I love you! Person B: Well, I love him. Person C: I love her. Person D: No one loves me. And my foot hurts. Person A: Oh, Person D, I've always loved you! Evil Pirate: Arr, me hardies! Person C: Oh. I've just died. Serpent Person: Hiss. I sure am evil. Persons A, B and D: Die, you monster! Serpent Person: *sniff* *dies* Kind Pirate: Arr, me hardies! Person D: Hey, my foot feels better. Really. That's pretty much the whole story. It is a plodding, repetitious bunch of garbage. I found myself embarassed to be seen reading the book, because if anyone had asked me what it was about, I would have had to make something up. "Uh. French socioeconomics and their impact on the maternity cycle of Maori women." I certainly couldn't say, "This guy, he, uh, he's in love with this girl and... hey, where are you going? Like me! Like me!" Really. The book is just awful. Really awful.
Rating: Summary: After the superlative Riftwar Saga, it was disappointing Review: I loved the RIFTWAR SAGA; it was in my top ten of the hundreds of fantasy novels that I've read in my lifetime. And, although this was better than PRINCE OF BLOOD, which I wanted to smash on my wall, somethig is lacking in emotional resonance. True, the crippled boy was an interesting point and more interesting than the others, but seeing all the old characters felt hollow. I think this is an okay read but I can think of some 30 to 40 fantasy novels alone that are better. George R.R. Martin's A GAME OF THRONES, for instance, and THE LEGEND OF HUMA or NINE PRINCES IN AMBER or ELFSTONES OF SHANNARA.
Rating: Summary: Not the best, not the worst Review: I really enjoyed this book. Feist did a great job with this one. It's not my faveorite of his, but I definently recommend it to anyone who is a Sci-fi fantasy fan. I made the mistake of reading the Serpentwar Saga before I read The Kings Buccaneer so don't make the same mistake. I recommend reading all of Feists books in order. A truely excellent book. I also recommend Prince of the Blood, another of Feist's masterpieces.
Rating: Summary: Really good book Review: I really like this book. If your some Fiest fanatick you'll enjoy this book. I gave it five stars because it gave you a thrill and gives still more insight into the rest of Arutha's kin.
