Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: In Destiny, Elizabeth Haydon brilliantly concludes the trilogy begun with Rhapsody and Prophecy. She creates a fascinating world with compelling characters, magic, puzzles, plot twists, humor, and marvelous writing. If Rhapsody in places was a trifle slow, then Destiny more than makes up for it with almost non-stop action. The ending is immensely satisfying: All loose ends are tied up, all prophecies explained, and yet there is the veriest hint of what future books could contain, which in no way detracts from the conclusion. A suggestion: Reread (or read) the first two installments before you read the third. Immersing oneself completely in this world for a few days adds immeasureably to the pleasure Destiny provides. Bravo, Elizabeth! Give us more!
Rating: Summary: A Great Story!! Review: I love this trilogy, The story is unique & well constructed, The main characters are strong & witty connected passionately to each other. READ IT! The only drawback is that I found the last book to be full of descriptions that I thought took away from my concentration & weren't very necessary. Every palace, place & hole described in excruciating detail, It would have been better to leave something to the imagination with a little detail...Also many facts mentioned in the previous books were repeated in detail in this one as well. I know that some readers "may" forget, although I doubt someone who is reading this wonderful story would forget anything about the characters!! I LOVED the ending which was a surprise to me "Meridion", It took me a few minutes & a bit of imagination to realise what the author was saying about the ulternative had this leap to the past never happened! You'll know what I mean when you read the Prologue form the first book "Rhapsody". All in all a wonderful story that I couldn't put down. Thank you Ms. Haydon for the lovely memories you've given me... Also recommended: Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan & don't forget Anne Bishop's The Black Jewels Trilogy.
Rating: Summary: Please don't let it end here! Review: I admire Elizabeth Haydon immensely for many things. She is a gifted author with an incredible talent for words, characterization, battle scenes and depth of thought that shows through in her work. She is also a generous person willing to give away the entire royalties of a huge book that must have taken forever to write. I also admire her for knowing when to end a storyline. Unlike Terry Goodkind and the others of his ilk who do not seem to know when their stories will ever end, just wandering around plotwise and churning out volume after volume of the same tired trash, Haydon has written a complete cycle in this trilogy, culminating in a fiery, gripping conclusion in DESTINY. This roller coaster ride of twists, turns, unexpected actions and thoroughly unpredictable happenings left me unable to put it down and unable to sleep. I was thrilled to actually have immersed myself in so broad and deep a history, so complex a story, so wonderful a mythology, and lived to see the storyline come to an end, to find out WHO the bad guy was, who Meridion was, and what the whole story of the world was, rather than either having this put out for me from the beginning, or grind on in a never-ending saga. It was a truly and deeply satisfying experience. However... PLEASE DON'T LET IT END! There is so much I still want to know, both before and after this period in history. I would quite happily read anything and everything Ms. Haydon chooses to write in this universe, because I know it would be fresh, unpredictable and unique. I hope that she will choose to expance upon what comes next, what happened afterward, and what came before, the little clues of mystery left like breadcrumbs for Hansel and Gretel. I eagerly await finding out more about the inner workings of this brilliant mind. The characters are like old friends, the place a fascinating and beautiful home to escape to, much as the Three did, when life becomes too hard. Ms. Haydon, please tell us more!
Rating: Summary: An amazing finish! Review: I have been waiting for this book to come out ever since I devoured the first two. Destiny is was worth waiting for. I could not put it down. Ms. Haydon definitely has a flair for making her multi-faceted characters come to life. The plots are intricate and one feels as if they are walking the journey with Achmed, Grunthor and Rhapsody. Give yourself some time to read it because you are not going to want to put it down. Hopefully, we will be able to see future projects from Elizabeth Haydon.
Rating: Summary: I loved this series! Review: All I can say is wow! Elizabeth Haydon to me is right up there with David Eddings! I love dry humor and these books are full of it! With its amazing conclusion that smacks you upside the head, I think everyone who reads this series will be plesantly surprized. I was!
Rating: Summary: A Home Run..If only Review: The first two books of this series were an incredible read, a true all night page turner! The characters are a wonderful patchwork of personalities that meshed together to create a well rounded storyline and a unique world. Unfortunatly the (beaten over the head) plot device went one book (maybe even just half a book) too far in this readers opinion. Perhaps I have just read one too many stories where the real plot disolves into a new/old one based around a romantic relationship that keeps dragging out across an entire series (I must thank Terry Goodkind for souring me on this plot device). On the brighter side of things I found Rhaps to be a truly endeering character with an inner warmth and depth that shined brightly even through the adverse and tragic advents that surrounded her life.
Rating: Summary: My new favorite author Review: It has taken Elixabeth Haydon a while to displace my beloved favorites in the fantasy field, but one by one with each book she has finally done it! The level of storytelling in Destiny is no less than masterful, between the near-misses of Rhapsody and Ashe, the "just when you thought it was over, here's THIS little nasty surprise", the beauty of the descriptions, whether in sweeping panaramas or in the heat of the tile foundery. I stand in awe of this lady's writing ability, and will buy in hardcover anything she writes. She's my new favorite author.
Rating: Summary: A+++++++ Superb Review: This was a terrific ending to a series I hoped never would end. I really found myself sad when each book ended, wishing there was more to read about Ahmed, Rhapsody and Gruntor. This book was as well plotted as the better Michael Crichtons or Dick Francis. I thought I had a bead on the deomon's host many times but it turned out I was wrong when it was finally revealed. I LOVED the form that revelation took, too! Haydon is a brave author who tells the story with no fear of seeming politically correct or of making her heroes less than perfect. I applaud the talented Miss Haydon and plead with her to TELL US MORE!!!
Rating: Summary: Mind Ripping Review: What Elizabeth Haydon can do with a series let alone a book is just captivating. Destiny was easily the best with Prophecy and Rhapsody following. It'd take me pages to just talk about the rest of the series so I'll focus on Destiny. Destiny picks up essentially where we left off with Meridion and his main goal in hand but with major subplots. Namely between the three and the F'Dor, Rhapsody and Ashe. Be warned the plot between Rhapsody and Ashe will leave you screaming until its settled. The shock of who the F'Dor is, is also another thing. I could say more giving the plot away but I'll just say this Haydon is best at mysteries and in Destiny she reveals them all. In fact after finishing Destiny I'm thinking of buying Prophecy to read over again and see what I missed. I know I'm rambling. But here it is Destiny is just like the scariest rollercoaster you've ever been on, except if you love rollercoasters you know it was the best. The book has everything a great book should have characters that feel hate, contempt, prejudice, rage. Only to next time around feel love, sadness, joy, and happyness. Meanwhile the plot the characters are so fluidly moved through twists and turns making the ending unpredictible. Lots of great moments especially near the end. But the biggest thing I would say of the book is the mysteries. Haydon has mysteries going until the last page. Thinking on it now I know I missed somethings. Anyway great book, great series if you like fantasy and Sci-Fi (which this book is 'messing with time') this is a must read series. I'd love to read more books from Haydon on the three.
Rating: Summary: Excellent finale to this great series Review: The final battle between F'Dor and the triad that leads the opposition (Rhapsody, Achmed, and Grunthor) seems eminent. Though the intrepid trio has defeated F'Dor in the recent past, history cannot guarantee final victory. Grunthor trains his army for the omega confrontation while Rhapsody and Achmed search the countryside for F'Dor's 'children' to perhaps enable a backdoor to the malevolent being. The threesome understands that no one can be trusted except one another as F'Dor can reach inside to exploit the evil that every person contains. As Rhapsody, Achmed, and Grunthor step closer to the conclusive war, each one of them doubts that they are the saviors that are mentioned in the PROPHECY, wondering if they are still manipulated by the F'Dor to bring about the end of the world. DESTINY completes Elizabeth Haydon's incredibly action-packed yet authentic feeling fantasy trilogy (see RHAPSODY and PROPHECY), which may be the genre's best miniseries of the past decade. The story line is fascinating due to the belief that this realm is real, the events seem as if they truly happened, and the key characters feel genuine all leading to the audience wanting more from Haydon's world. As fans and critics rhapsodize about this author's awesome talent, it is easy to make a prophecy that Ms. Haydon is destined to greatness if she has not already obtained the mantle. Harriet Klausner
