Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: If you have read books 1 and 2 you know that Mina and the one god (Takhisis) have convinced several people, elves and other creatures of Krynn that they are good by helping sick and poor. This book Dragons of a vanished moon has everything from Solamnic knights, elves, dragons, wizards, and my favorite Kender, Tasselhoff. I miss the old characters of Krynn at times but time must go on and this has most of their descendants and a time traveling kender. I did notice several spelling errors but that seems to be the norm in today's market. It didn't hurt the story though. Also recommended: C.M Whitlock's The Price of Immortality, he is the next Robert Jordan or even Tolkein
Rating: Summary: The Return of Dragonlance Review: I'm not sure what the other reviewers found so wrong about this book. It did everything I wanted it to do...make me love dragonlace again. The main plot of the War of Souls is wrapped up with much yet left to say. Its like everyone was expecting this to be the end of Krynn and now their dissipointed because it is a new begining. I agree this IS the begining that Dragons of Summer Flame should have been but now Dragonlance is ready to shine again.
Rating: Summary: History of Krynn beginning Chapters of Silmarillion Retold? Review: If you're looking for a good book, this one is a must not read. Instead of the perfect mix of action and poignant power of the War of the Twins and the Chronicles, you get a story where things just happen without the characters don't do anything ie, 'Army of Elves went and fought. And they won." Absolute crud. Weis and Hickman have been fallling off for years, as was seen in the totally god awful Dragons of Summer Flame and this is just a final stake in the heart of their dying careers. Their are some awesome parts, like the scenes with Raistlin and the Gods, but the rest of the characters are dealt with awfully. Palin and Dalamar are reduced to former shadows of themselves, impotent to stand up against the forces of evil. I didn't know or didn't care about the other characters so their life or death had no meaning to me whatsover. Mirror? Who was that? Who is ...? The fact of the matter is I don't even remember much of none of the character because none of them mattered enough to be remembered. And the resolution was resolved so cheaply and rediculously that it will be rememberd as one of the biggest let downs in the history of Fantasy. And the history of Krynn as explained in the back of the book is merely Tolkien's Silmarillion badly and crudely rewritten. This book is worse than Dragons of Summer Flame. Much worse. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this one.
Rating: Summary: The Dark Review: Ever since I was first introduced to the world of DragonLance, I've been getting every book I could lay my hands on. The conclusion to the War of Souls is just awesome I could not put the book down. Weis and Hickman outdone Themselves..
Rating: Summary: I just dont get it ... Review: I have loved every dragonlance book, but this one bites. ... Why did they kill off the best God and Goddess??! That made no sense to me! And one other thing the grammatical errors were more than I could handle. There were way too many. It should have been edited ALOT more than it was. The ending need to be seriously redone, and the grammer fixed. It looked like they used a thesaurus to pick new words, that really ended up meaning something else entirely, and the "he" "she" were always messed up. It was highly confusing, and very irritating. As a Dragonlance reader, I had to read it to see what they were going to do in this book. But is was very disappointing!!! I will miss the old set of characters, terribly. Will I buy more Dragonlance books, well of course I will. I just hope they do better editting next time.
Rating: Summary: The Krynn of Old is Back Review: Book three of the War of the Souls Trilogy has finally arrived and it has lived up to my expectations. It has been a long time since I have read a Dragonlance book that I did not want to put down. Granted this book (series) did not have the same character development as "legends" or "chronicles," it still made for an excellent read. While the story line is indeed interesting, thoughout the book I felt as if Weis and Hickman were attempting to accomplish something else with the Dragonlance setting as a whole - a type of revitalization. Interviews with the authors also seem to prove that the 5th Age may not have been to Weis and Hickman's liking. The purpose of my digression at this point is to say that my only problem with this book is filling in of gaps and obvious patchwork that was done to explain events from the 5th Age. This all becomes most obvious in the last chapter on the history of creation. With this in mind, however, if this small shortcoming leads readers to a return of the Krynn of old, then I can without a doubt overlook it.
Rating: Summary: Good- but not up to usual high standard Review: The original keepers of the Dragonlance world have certainly 'righted the ship' with the War of Souls trilogy, but even they can never capture the magic that was Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends. I just didn't find the offspring of the original Heroes as compelling as the Heroes themselves. However, this trilogy, and specifically this book, does manage to bring Krynn back to an even keel. Everything is wrapped up neatly. That said, the second book of this trilogy is the best one, and the trilogy itself doesn't measure up to the Legends series, which I hold as the best work in the Dragonlance story line. Read it, but don't expect too much.
Rating: Summary: great but not perfect Review: I finished this book the day I bought it and I found it very satisfying despite lacking the flare which made volumes 1 and 2 so great. This third installment had the benefit of suceeding the previous page-turners and is in itself a great completion of the plot. This book was beautifully written in the beginning, especially the part of the novel where Skie and Malys had their confrontation. But the book died out toward the end and it wasn't as moving as the second book (where Qualinost was destroyed etc) and it leaves the world without significant consequence.
Rating: Summary: Well here is the end..... Review: Well, if you read the first two books, you will need to read this one to finish up the series, but ... don't expect much from it. It pretty much just wraps everything up, and in my humble opinion, not very well. This is prolly the worst Weis/Hickman work that I've ever read. Please don't get me wrong it is still a good book and I read it in one sitting, but after reading it you will think they could have ended it better, or at least I did. The best thing about the book was a cameo from our favorite character :-D
Rating: Summary: Oh How Could You... Review: I am a borderline fanatical fan of the Dragonlance series. I have read all of the Dragonlance novels written by Weis and Hickman and I have loved every one (yes even Summer Flame) until now. Dragons of a Vanished Moon simply does not make any sense. It simply jumps around from one plot hole to another providing very little explanation as to why or how. The power of the characters seems to come and go to suit the writer's need to fill those holes. But I read the entire thing hoping to find some sort of satisfaction in the ending only to be extremely let down by the final conflict (if you could call it that). If they write another one I hope they are able to redeem themselves and save Krynn from stupidity, but for now I'll say BOOOOOO!!!!
