Summary: Fanstastic magic system
Review: First, I loved this book because it kept surprising me with its fresh magic system. Second, the villain isn't a mindless minion of the dark. He's got a good cause. Third, I couldn't predict the majority of the plot turns! Fourth, I stayed up all night reading the damn thing. I can't wait for book two. If you like epic fantasy, I recommend this book. And inbetween all the action, we get to see a story about how love and comittment go hand in hand--the love of a king for his people and the love of a man and a woman.

Summary: I was amazed!
Review: I was amazed at how wonderful this book was. READ IT!! If you are a Jordan or Goodkind fan, forget them. Mr. farland has wrote a beautiful book and I can not wait to read more from him(its only his first book!). You will fall in love with the characters and hate to see the book end, although the endeing is one of the most amazing parts. I just finished it and I feel I will read this book many times in the future. The magic structure of the book is something new and I'm sure most people will love getting to know it and its implications. If you are even a casual fan of fantasy you can not afford to miss this book. All I can really say is that I will wait in line to get Mr. Farland's next book and please don't let it be long wait!

Review: Wow! "When is the next book coming out" - this is what you're going to be saying after you read this book. From the start the storyline is compelling. The world that Farland has created is an intriguing realm, and he draws you into it masterfully. I read lots of science fiction/fantasy, and I can tell that this series is going to be one of those that you read over and over for the pure enjoyment that it brings. As I said: When is the next book coming out???

Review: I found Runelords to be one of the most compelling fantasy novels that I have ever read. Farland's magic system is brilliantly innovative, which is a rarity in epic fantasy. Whether good or evil, his characters are multi-dimensional, with compelling interests and problems. All in all, a great opening for what promises to become one of the great fantasy series of all times.

Review: I don't normally buy hardcover books (and by an unknown author!-- at least unknown to me and I read a lot of Science Fiction and Fantasy), but I saw the great review from Orson Scott Card and noticed it had cover art from Darrel K. Sweet and went for it. I was not disapointed and you will not be either! I will be recommending this book to all my fantasy reading friends! Well done David! P.S. When is the next book coming out! I can hardly wait.

Summary: Farland Saves The Day!!
Review: After reading some of the early hype of "The Runelords", I decided to order it. I was getting pretty bored of what was being offered in the Fantasy section and looking forward to someone to come along and revive the genre, especially with a great series. Look no further. This is a very good book. Mr. Farland keeps the interesting characters to a minimum and does NOT lose the reader with complicated and overburden storylines. He creates an imaginative and creative world with GREAT battle scenes. No more "wimpy" fights/battles. His description of the battles are awesome. My favorite: the 2 fingers in the eyesockets move. I strongly recommend this book not only to the Fantasy newbie, but to anyone who has had their tastebuds longing for a new, invigorating, and captivating series. I know alot of people are waiting for the next Jordan book (he's getting tiresome) but definitely get this book. You won't be disappointed!!

Summary: A great series opener
Review: The Sum of All Men is an awesome opener to a potentially legendary series. For once we see some originality in the magic system, even though we have hardly scratched the surface of the series. Farland keeps the novel moving at good speed and doesn't dwell on unneccessary conversations (ala Jordan). You get a good feel for the characters, and also get a few surprises along the way. The storyline of the opening book sets the scene excellently for further novels in the series, yet doesn't leave the reader feeling as though they have read a "go-between" novel. Overall, a great novel Now only to wait for both David Farland and George R R Martin sequels.
