Summary: Allright
Review: This book was pretty good. I've always wanted to read more about Menzoberanzan, and this book did reveal many new facts about the city. But one of the characters, Quenthel, actually died in another book (Siege of Darkness, by RA Salvatore)! The author should have done more research.

Summary: Great book!!
Review: This is a really good book. And forget what the guy complaining said, he is mistaking a cutting method for the book being messed up. The book is supposed to have frayed edges just like on the hard back of Cryptonimicon. But please by all means GO GET THIS BOOK!!

Summary: Can you say excellent chaos?
Review: This is an excelent book. It brings in all the wonderful traits of the drow society (wonderful meaning interesting, not literally wonderful). I have to compare this book with Servant of the Shard which in my opinion is one of the best books ever. It does have a lot of background information of the drow, but it is very interesting and amusing. It is also an excellent prelude to the following book Insurrection which is even better. You will not regret reading this book.
I LOVE THE DROW!!

Summary: Wow...
Review: This is one of the best books featuring drow out there. You'll like this book even if you don't like Salvatore (he's not my fav) and the author does an amazing job describing drow society. This book has no actual 'heroes' but you'll find yourself rooting for certain people anyway.
Wonderful read.

Review: This was also my first purchase of a Forgotten Realms Book... and wow, it was not disappointing, not at all!

Richard Lee Byers did a terrific job of elucidating how bad and perverse the dark elves are... I especially loved Pharaun and Ryld. However, this book is also filled with an interesting cast of characters that you will also adore, and believe me when I say that you will not be able to put this book down, buy it NOW! You will not regret it. :)

Summary: Simply amazing
Review: This was the first book I purchased of Forgotten Realms, and it certainly will not be last. Byers does an brilliant job of describing the "lovable" characters, especially the wizard Pharaun and priestess Quenthel. And the battles made me remember the fond memories of bloodshed in Neverwinter Nights, my favorite PC game of all time.

Summary: I hope that the next books are this good!
Review: This was truly a great book! I'm a huge fan of Salvatore and the drow so I decided to give this book a try. Ever since I picked it up I couldn't put it down, it is a very addicting book. Byers did a great job in depicting the drow and all of their sinister ways. There was essentially two stories going on throughout the book, and they both tied in nicely together at the end. Byers probably uses more unique and uncommon words than what was necessary, I wouldn't recommend to people with a small vocabulary, but most people will have no trouble with it. I can't really complain about anything in the book, all in all it was a great book. Would it have been better if R.A. Salvatore wrote it himself? I don't know. The way I see it is that Salvatore was probably busy writing more great books for us avid fans. If you want to save money, waiting for it to come out on paperback in August wouldn't be a half bad idea, but it is definitely worth the money either way. If your a fan of the drow, Forgotten Realms, Fantasy, or R.A. Salvatore I would recommend giving this book a try.

Summary: AWESOME!
Review: To the reviewer who complained about the uneven paper -- that's called a deckle edge and it's supposed to be like that -- it's an expensive premium actually that shows that the publisher is putting a lot into this book!

Beyond that, the book is fantastic -- a great set-up for what promises to be an outstanding series. If you have any interest in the fantasy genre you owe it to yourself to get in on this series from the beginning -- even if you've never read FR books before, or anything by RAS. This is fantasy at its finest -- epic, full of mystery and promise, and loaded with extraordinary detail!!!
