The depth and involement I get from these books, parrallel those of my own life. I feel for Kahlan & Richard and all the troubles they go through. Terry has a unique writing ability and I can't wait for book 5
Rating: Summary: Reader from New Hampshire Review: Even though I have not yet read this book, I thoroughly enjoyed all of his other books. I have read them several times and enjoy them everytime. I am very much looking forward to any new books that he comes out with. I wish there were more writes with as much talent as Mr. Goodkind has. If it were possible to give higher than 5 stars I would
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Authors in his Genre since... well never. Review: I must admit I read the first book of this series by accident, because I recieved it in an incorrect order from a book club. But I have kept reading the series, strictly becuase of Mr. Goodkinds abilty to weave a tale. The characters in the books are so life like, you can actually gain an insight into the character outside of the story. As with Ricard Rhal, his boyhood is hinted at but, as the story grows and the character developes, you can almost see his entire child hood. The same for his father. My favorite book in the series has to be the "Temple of the Winds", becuase of the history it gives of the wars between the wizzards of the two magics. And the detail that is finally given to the Wiazards Keep. I don't know about you or any other readers, but there never has been another land I would like to see, than that of the one that Mr. Goodkind sees, every time he writes these books. I am thinking a great Movie could come from each installment yet. Thanks, Casey Annis
Rating: Summary: I want it now! Review: I simply adore Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth books. I may just be a gushing obssisive fan but I can find no flaw with this man's writing. Reading one of his books is like being caught in some perverblial vortex of life that won't let you go till you've gone trough every possible human emotion. You feel more than empathy for the characters! You can't wait for everything to work out again! When I tried to go to sleep after prying the book from myself I would dream of it. His books are haunting and masterful and I can't wait to read Soul of Fire.
Rating: Summary: How do you say? Kick A**!!! Review: This guy rock the Shisnit!! He should get a hell of alot more awards than he has before. His writing style is quite like nothing I've seen before. He lays out scenes so vividly I'm there. And his use of foreshadowing is subtle enoughn that even I overlook it. And so far what I see in these previos reveiws are some people who need to prioritize, don't take these books too seriosely. Remember "The Catcher in the Rye".
Rating: Summary: So far the best series I have read!!!! Review: The series that Terry has begun is by far one of the best of all times! I do however have one question for all who read this and to those this pertains to. I have noticed alot of people slamming Mr. Goodkind for "The constant rape scenarios in his books" If these people would bother to read the whole book they would understand that for these charecters it is a way for them to mature and have more depth I grant you it may not be everyones cup of tea to read these parts ,but let's be honest in the time these books would have been set in in our time it was a common place thing for women to be raped. Also the women who keep complaning about these senarios why didn't you complain about the way the little boy got killed in the first book or the way the boys were raped in the first one???? So in short get off your soap boxes and either read the books or don't just don't complain about the senarios!!! For everyone else I would highly suggest this series it is very well written and very very full.
Rating: Summary: You want this book. TRUST ME. Review: This series ranks up there with the Lord of the Rings, Wheel of Time, and Dune. --If you read science-fiction, Robert Jorgan, Anne, Weis&Hickman, Piers Anthony, you will want every book in this series, and depsite the size of them, these books go by quickly, because you can't stop reading them. These books hold you in suspence, and unique plots in each novel. These books are not just a good read, though. These books are NOT just another bestseller, another classic. These books teach you something. They teach you valuable lessons practical today. After reading this series, and applying the lessons that are alligorically written within it, you will see what I mean, and what everybody else that has read this series means. Terry Goodkins has gotten extremely good reviews in every area of his writing by top writers like Piers Anthony, who writes Xanth novels, and did the bestselling Apprentice Adept, and Incarnations of Immortality. This book series will not only change the way you look at science fiction novels. It will change the way you look at everything. Read it. ;)
Rating: Summary: Brilliant exposition of racial truth Review: This book gets five stars for it's wonderful tale of the Anders and Hakens. Most may not have noticed that this story is a parable for race relations in our world. The Hakens were people whose education and weaponry were superior to those of the Anders. They conquered the Anders and improved their lives by sharing the benefits of their superior intellect. The Anders, resenting their obvious inferiority, slowly turned on the less numerous Hakens and institutionalized a culture of Anderian guilt and weakness. This is perfectly analogous to what is happening to white Europeans. Western culture has advanced humanity beyond any other and yet, lesser cultures as found in sub-Saharan Africa are busy trying to convince whites that they are responsible for the horrible condition blacks find themselves in and making whites feel guilty for daring to accept the truth of black intellectual inferiority. I congratulate Terry Goodkind for daring to tell this tale and hope that the Anders (whites) will one day proudly identify themselves as part of the white race and dare not let anyone persuade them that their heritage is not a great one worth preserving.
Rating: Summary: another good book Review: this is a very good SOT novel. If you read this book you will enjoy the whole thing. Though i must say the ending was not as strong as it could have been but it is still a very good book. If you have never read one of these books i urge you to start from the begining or you will be lost. All in all a very good book
Rating: Summary: not what i expected Review: I have read all the other sword of truth books and i loved them. However they were much better then Soul of the Fire. The over-all plot was good but i just didnt like the parts including the Minister and his advisor because i thought they were very bording and could have had much more action. but i would still highly recommend that you read this book befor moving to the next ones.
