Rating: Summary: Good stuff buts plot development needs something new Review: I've read all of Goodkind's books so far and I wonder if he can keep up the momentum. The first few books had a great theme: Hero gets thrust into situations over his head with unbeatable villain(s) out for his blood, finds out his fate is a dismal CATCH-22 damned-if-he-does/doesn't inescapable death & defeat. Eventually he discovers some new hidden power w/in himself and escapes his dreadful fate and gets the girl. The intertwined love story is a typical but still interesting modus of Goodkind drawing out their coming-together as long as possible; when they briefly get together he then break them up/apart and repeats the cycle. QUESTION IS: Its all good but starting to get repetitive; so can Goodkind shock us readers out of the comfortable & interesting rut we've learned to expect?
Rating: Summary: "Soul of the Fire"- the definitive book Review: Why are people reviewing a book that hasn't been released yet
Rating: Summary: What's up with you peolpe? Review: I am a HUGE goodkind fan, and have read everyone of his books at least 20 times, but what I don't understand is why a lot of the reviews I have read say that Goodkind copies Jordon. I have read every book at least 10 times in Jordons book, and have yet to find one thing that I would consider copied. Hello, Boxes of Orden here people. Nothin like that in Jordons books. Well, thats about it.
Rating: Summary: It's great, but too similar. Review: Before I begin criticizing the Sword of Truth series, I would like to say that does not mean that I dislike Mr. Goodkind. In fact, he is my one of the three most loved author. Now that it's said, I will talk about the four books in the series. The first book, "Wizard's First Rule," was awesome. The book excellently evolved the characters into someone quite real. The plots were incredible, too. There was also the love aspects. The second book is great. This time, there was more of the love aspects. Richard loved Khalan and Khalan loved Richard. Less actions. The third book, more love aspects. "Lesser" actions. Boring. Fourth book, almost no action and too much love aspects. SUPER BORING! So, you see what I am saying. If you want something about love, Mr. Goodkind, make it a complicated love. How about Richard finds his so call "half-sister" and let her fall in love with him. Add the Mord-Siths, too. It will make the next book more enjoyable to read.
Rating: Summary: good but bad Review: Richard finally realizes the secrets of the universe, only to lose it in a bargain. What a disapointment. He should stumble into a book of secrets, learn what power really is, and destroy the world. That would be great. Hopefully book five will swing this way...as for the rest of the series: so far so good...
Rating: Summary: New Goodkind book thin to the point of non-existance Review: The fifth volume of the Sword of Truth series is so thin, I can't even see it. I have been able to ascertain no plot development, no action, and - strangest of all - no copying of the Wheel of Time series whatsoever. In fact, now that I think about it, I haven't even read it. I couldn't. It's not published yet, you see. Still, just like everyone else, I thought a review would be well appreciated.
Rating: Summary: Regarding originality... Review: Goodkind is *good* I read the first of his books before I was persuaded to read any of Robert Jordan's. I remember telling my buddy about it and her laughing and calling him "Copy" Goodkind. Okay. I'll admit it. There are a LOT of similarities between his and Jordan's work. My question: so what? I've seen pages and pages of people comparing Jordans to Tolkien, and not once did I see anyone accusing Jordan of copying. If you're writing high epic fantasy, there is bound to be similarities. Admit it. Evil guys. Good guys. the difference between these guys is that Terry's books *end* at the ending, whereas Jordans are a definate series that you really have to read through. Do you really think Tor would publish Goodkind if he was really copying? Chances are, if you are a seriously fanatical Jordan fan *raises her hand* and were a Jordan fan before you stumbled upon Goodking *puts her hand down* you probably won't enjoy Goodkind. Unless, of course, you can admit that there are bound to be similarities and you can get past that! :o) They're good books!!
Rating: Summary: Need better maps! Review: What kind of a fantasy series has such cruddy maps? When I read the first book, I had to laugh at the map there: two vertical lines of bumpy mountains with plains in the middle. Boooring! Finally, by the fourth book, terry finally added a couple more terrain features, thank God! Overall, despite the map problems, these are enjoyable books, even though he keeps wasting time on poorly-written sappy stuff. And the fourth book was a waste. Did you realize, it didn't advance the plot AT ALL?? In some ways, I wish I'd never started reading this stuff, cuz now I'm stuck. I HAVE to find out what's happening. Please, finish the series already!!!
Rating: Summary: The book isn't out yet!!!! Review: I like Sword of Truth books!!! This book isn't out yet, but when I read it i will enjoy it!!!
Rating: Summary: EXELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: WOw!! Belive me when I tell you this is about the best series you could ever read. Even my mom got hold of "Wizards First Rule" one time, and has become a Goodkind junkie along with me!! She's read all four books about three times. I've read them about a dozen times. These books are captivating and will leave you with bloody stumps where your fingernails used to be. You'll absolutely fall in love with all good guys, and come to curse the bad ones in your prayers. If you have ti read a book for school or something, pick "Wizard's First Rule". All the pages will impresss your techer, and you'll be done with it in under a week! Guaranteed! I can't wait until book five comes out. I'm gonna read it 7 times in a week!
