Summary: Goodkind is good, Jordan is good. Stop comparing.
Review: I love fantasy. I have read The Wheel of time 5 times. I have also read the sword of truth twice. Goodkind was refreshing with his new style of magic, but still followed basic guidelines. Yes, he expanded on the old guidelines, but didn't stray far. Jordan had a completely new style of Magic that I personally have never seen the equal of before or since. I enjoy reading both authors, consider them both at the top of the list of great authors. But please. Don't put either one down while praising the other. if you have any respect for fantasy fiction, you will know that with THESE authors, it would be almost impossible to place one above the other.

Summary: These books are pretty good, but not that good.
Review: This is really in response to all of you nuts who keep saying that Goodkind is better than Jordan: Shut up. Goodkind's books are excellent, but they are rather simplistic and can get boring. Jordan on the other hand, writes greatly involved, very detailed books, which can also get boring. The difference is, one has more detail, thus better describes the setting/characters, thus is better. And to the guy who said goodkind shows more emotion: you're wrong. Goodkind expresses basic ideas over and over, while Jordan introdcues character development, and other good stuff. Plus, his characters act logically. So, I say again: shut up.

Summary: Goodkind is one of the best authors I have ever seen!
Review: Goodkind has always lived up to my expectations. This book, I have no doubt, will be one of the top sellers in the world. People say that him and Jordan have a similarity between them, but I don't notice anything except a passing resemblance: after all, the top books of the world usually have a similarity of thought and plot to them.

Summary: I have no doubt that I'll love it.
Review: I first got hold of his first book in 6th grade. It fascinated me, as I was already a big reader it really got me into fantasy. ever since then I've read everything of his I could get my hands on I have also read Jordan and I think the similarities between the two great writers is cool. These books made it like there was a real westland, and midlands. And that is the mark of a great writer they were a real tear-jerker in the sad times and exciting in the action. I look forward to reading the rest of his books.

Summary: Copying or no, I like both series.
Review: As for the copying goes, if you were to take any fantasy book that deals with magic you can only come up with so many different variations of that magic and the abilities given to those that weild that power. But I have to say that Jordan has begun to loose me in his series, the last book that was written was by far not up to the standards I have begun to expect from him. But as for the Goodkind series I've begun to expect a lot and don't think that I'll be dissapointed. Now for those of you that are reading this and like Jordan I'mnot saying that it is a bad book, it is good in it's own way, but Goodkind has him beaten by far !!!!!! Keep it going Terry.

Summary: Top Flight Fantasy
Review: Roll on Terry, roll on!

For those who have not delved into the worlds of in-depth, adult themed fantasy, then Terry Goodkind's works are a great place to start. World building is a diffucult assignment for any writer, but Terry Goodkind turned the trick - and he did it in spectacular fashion. The world he created and the characters all posess depth. The plots of Terry Goodkind's novels have a certain weave to them, they move about, they are not static and predictable. I have enjoyed Terry's novels and having been a Fantasy buff since Tolkien and Lieber, I did not think there was much out there to exercise my imagination, but Terry Goodkind did it. Go buy Wizards First Rule and enjoy from there

Summary: No comparison necessary
Review: To compare either of these men is a rather foolish debate that sort of mirrors their respective series; it will never end. Each man sells millions of books and have expanded the readership of fantasy in general. Their styles differ as much as Steven Spielberg's movies differ from John Woo's action flicks. Though incredibly different in presentation and plot development, each series can captivate the reader. I repect both authors and can't wait until their next 1000 page marathons.

Summary: Educated guess.
Review: Since I have yet to read this book, I am just guessing,or actually hoping that this book will live up to my expectations. Based on the quality of the books in this series, I would say that "4 Stars" is a safe bet for this book.

Summary: Goodkind: The author that could.
Review: People compare Goodkind and Jordan as if they were competing with each other for readers out there, people both are exceptional writers and both should have all of you for fans. The sword of truth and Wheel of time series are books that will be considered as high as the Tolkien Books. Read on fellow fantasy afficionados. A follower of the light and truth.

Summary: Why Goodkind is better than Jordan.....
Review: Ok..there are certain reasons that Terry Goodkind has Robert Jordan in the fantasy writng industry these days. One: Goodkind introduces actual feelings and emotions which mix greatly with the magic and fantasy elements. I had never read fantasy before and Goodkind grabbed my attention like no other author could. Two:Goodkind started the story nice and simple so that it could be easy to follow, I tried to read the first Wheel of Time book and found myself looking to the glossary in the back {yes a glossary for a book )often. You shouldn't need a glossary to read a story. Finally my opinion here folks. Mr. Goodkind's books, i think cater to the first time and not so often fantasy reader. Not to the legions of dweebs, nerds, role-players, and other assorted weirdos out there. Most of these hard core fantasy nuts feel contempt towards Mr. Goodkind because he wants regular people to read his work and not just those of the pocket protector class.
